Following intently. I'm new to organic soil grow. Just started my supersoil 6 months back. Vermicompost and grass trimming compost getting set up this weekend. Will flower outdoors. Keep up the great work!

That's a GREAT question!!
We had our son stop by and check on things for us and he said that I probably didn't need to add any water. I had about 20 gal of water in 5 buckets covered tops there waiting for him. He was stopping by weekly and the first 2 weeks he didn't do anything, the third week he said it was still 1/2 full but added in the 20gal of water then. When I got home the reservoir was almost empty.
Several of the plants I'd say 4 of the 8 there were flipped into flower when I started the AP system. So they weren't really ramping up water use until I'd say 2 weeks ago. Now they all are drinking A LOT. I bet one more tank full will get them to the end of the grow cycle.
I'm contemplating just letting things run the course and not mess with them at all, and then harvest.
Right before we left for vacation I had spider mites. That was almost a disaster.
I had to resort to neem oil and Dr Bronners peppermint soap for the kill down. The plants are bug free (knock wood) as I type. I have a little yellowing on one or 2 plants but nothing I'm going to do anything about. Probably too late to do anything now maybe a slurry of ewc and calcium maybe I'll do and ewc tea and let them go. We will see how energetic I get tomorrow after ... ahem trimming!
One of the things I "thought" was different this run was the slight lack of resins and terpines as the buds don't "look" too sticky. Then I bent down to turn the pots a 1/4 turn and my glasses brushed against a bud. Got a face full of stickum on my glasses and face. I had to get some alcohol to clean it off!
So yeah I'm extremely happy with this setup. I could see this taking off for us in the future for sure.
So review time:
My style of growing cannabis is pretty much the same as growing tomatoes. Stake em up and let em grow. I do trim the btm laf off the plants when I switch to 12/12 light cycle and take clones of the best looking clippings which I did right before going away.
Soil is Coots style organic
1/3 CSPM (peat moss best of the best)
1/3 aeration
1/3 Compost/EWC/soil - I used some bagged soil for the soil part from Premier..not the expensive shit.... we make our own EWC.
+ Amendments
RO Water (no need to PH test - its going to be 6.5 every time all the time)
I just up potted all the clones I took and I now have a Mother plant of the Purple Chemdawg I grew out last run. My Mother clone was almost dead when we left for vacay ... thought she was a goner but when we got home she was huge! I'm going to turn this into a nice run of a bunch of them. She was solidly up into the lights and the Apical Meristem was burnt to a crisp so I had to top that off..... oh well I'll turn this spindly little lady into something good ...
Pretty simple! Less messin and more smokin is my deal.
First HSO Black Dog to show some color... it's early but it here! I think this is a sign that fall is coming.
Kimbo Kush starting to do her thing. I'm thinking this one is going to take a little longer. Lemme read up on it and report back...

Yeah... about the Chemdawg...
I tried some when I was away on vacay. Was ok... nothing to write home about but I was pretty beered up sitting on the dock and whatnot.
Move to Thursday night... I read your post so I thought I'd do a proper smoke test and see whats what.
Well I got snickered pretty good too... I think I hurt myself hahaha
I vape so not going to get a lot of flavors but this one tastes a little earthy with a slight herbal fuel flavor maybe some minty after taste...very very smooth tho and expands a lot after hitting it.
The high is off the charts ... it took a few minutes to get going but the medicinal effect just kept building and building .... body buzz followed by bought's of laughter one right after the other... I don't remember going to bed! Got a good nights sleep but was plenty active so got me off to a nice evening and let me down easy... not too much craving for snacking so that was a plus!
Yeah so overall some of the best meds I've had in quite a while.
I'm glad my mother is taking off... we will have a room full of this going forward to next round!! I'll be cloning shortly.

I have 1/2 a room worth of clones going of the Black Dog and Kimbo plants just up potted to soil the other day..

On the calmag... I personally do not use that stuff... IF I need a boost of calcium, well I just add some Calcium Carbonate and/or Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate CaSO4 2(H2O). ) to my water and water in. IF I somehow need magnesium... add 1 tbs Epsom Salt to some warm water to dissolve and add into your water & water in... OR EWC slurry.
All of the above and more will already be in my soil mix ... some plants may use more and some less probably due to the microorganisms in the soil are different populations and uptake will be moderated by the micro herd to some degree. I think my one plant that is slightly yellow and shorter .. I forgot to add in Mycos at up pot/transplant.
I was always against using CalMag with organics but found thru trial and error using a tbs of Epsom Salt every once in a while kept things a little more green over time with SOME cultivars.
I'll throw a little science out here:
Chlorophyll a chemical formula = C55H72O5N4Mg
Notice the Mg there on the end only one molecule of Magnesium ... gonna be hard to get a deficit in organic soil. Very hard actually.

Wow, that Chemdawg sounds awesome. A room full of purple Chemdawg plants in AutoPots is going to be incredible Bo! That original mother was the most beautiful plant I've seen in a long time. A room full of those will be garden of the year worthy.
Interesting about flavors while vaping. I find the exact opposite. When I smoke (which is hardly ever) everything tastes the same like burnt weed lol. When I vape I can taste everything very intensely. What type of vaporizer are you using? I've got a volcano, haze, pax, and firefly. My haze is the only one I use now just for usability but they all five tons of flavor on the first pull.
I just ordered the mighty from the same folks that make the volcano. $365 shipped to my door. I'm a vape collector lol.

Hey Doc thanks for the tips on the vapes.. I only have one vape - its a decent one but to get the flavors it requires cleaning which is no problem cept I'm a little... well shall we say ... ok I'll just say lazy. hahahaha whatever... anywho, yes I can taste the flavors and my vape has an all glass chamber and tube, just got to clean it every once in a while... I even have a 2nd chamber with tube handy so I can swap in clean for dirty and I'm good ... I'm just "lets puff" ... there's tons of resin/oils in the chamber from the last round so the flavors get blended to some degree, but yeah I don't really smoke much anymore. For just the reason you say.. the flavor is WAY better than a bowl or a spliff. Mainly its the flavor of burning paper I don't like and I'm particular .... rice paper FTW.
My vaporizer I use is the DaVinci Ascent.. it's a good one and spendy too. I like it - it looks like a cell phone but it heavier which is why I don't like to carry it around if I'm out and going to puff. With this Vape, if the meds are good my whole mouth gets numb starting at my tongue.... then buzzzzzz, then face heat... ahhhhhh.
Ah crap... going to go try some more Chemdawg again tonight... I think it's finally ready. Wish me luck I hope to do better tonight... the other night I hurt myself!

I agree with Dr. vaping is way better for enjoying the taste and flavors of weed. Whenever I'm with a friend and they pass to me to smoke it's literally like licking an ashtray. It's one of the reasons, I make sure I always have some sort of vape on me when I go out. I have the Extreme Q by Arizer. Which is like the Volcano but cheaper, and it has a hookah type whip to smoke from too, not just balloons. I use it with Reynold's turkey bags which is twice the size of the bags it comes with and cheaper. Every time I have a party, I whip it out and people lose their minds. One balloon can pretty much mess everyone up really nice. Rarely do people hit it more than 2/3 times. I had/have the Iolite, Magic Flight, Pax, and my absolute favorite is my Arizer Solo which I can place in a cup and use it with a straw and everyone thinks I'm just drinking a softdrink, it's especially stealthy for driving. The Extreme Q is my second favorite for home use, when I have several people to share with.

Hey there Nunu thanks for the vap tips... yeah I'm like you smoking anymore for me... is hard to do. I smoked ciggs for 10 years and quit many years ago when I started growing cannabis full time for health reasons.
I'm A LOT more health conscious now and yeah really prefer not to smoke. I'm a swimmer... as in go to the YMCA and swim laps at race pace for health, member of the US Masters Swimmer for fitness so smoking, every time I do it when I swim I have to stop and expel the nasty shit. Vaping I don't have those issues. To be honest I think its the taste of burnt shit I don't really like.

Hey Bob, yea I started vaping around 35, I never smoked cigs ever. But loved my bongs, joints, glass pipes. But the coughing was was getting bad, and I just did not want to be that older chick with that "smoker's voice" and the cough that goes with it, just not sexy and definitely not lady like especially with a younger hubby. Then once vaping, I was shocked beyond belief of how amazing the floral earthy flavors you take in. I was amazed, I was even more amazed that i never heard of it sooner. Use to shove my glass tools in the fridge or freezer so it would be cooler/nicer on my throat, but nothing has stopped the coughing more than the vape, and nothing taste as amazing. I have even gotten into vapes for concentrates, I have the Dr Dabber light (nice) & the Puffco (complete crap/worse co). I have tried every type of concentrate from oil, pure, butter, wax, catridges etc from Cali, but no matter how strong they're rated, it's just not the same as a good dry herb vape. Though the concentrate vapes are great for travel/vacation. I feel a bit safer trying to hide it and get it where I need to go. I travel a lot and never had a problem. Before 9/11 use to travel a lot with herb, I'd be a bit nervous but never had a problem. After 9/11 I will not travel with herb. I love toys, good or bad they all have their time and place

Its funny while I was looking into a new portable vapes the last few days the Mighty has been popping up on my radar. Never heard of it til recently, sounds nice, though I'm looking for something less bulky. Though I would be terrified of losing it while out at that price, especially while stoned. I tend to lose things in my hands I have insurance on my cellphone just for that reason. lol.

Ok another update... interesting reading about all the good vaporizers out there, keep the reviews coming. I need another one!
OK so our 27 day holiday in August was soooo successful we decided to take another week off... so up to our cottage 420 in Cana-da we went once again.. Now plans in place to start our garden up there next spring outdoors with some super rudaralis. It is Canada after all and we found a local source of soil, peat bogs. Thats super soil if I ever smelled it and its EVERYWHERE.
On to the indoor garden. So we added 30 gal of water to the 60gal res and hit the road... thats it.. I did one regular IPM with some Protec-k, Ful-power, coconut water with aloe, a tad of Monterrey and top watered in some water with a few tbs of calcium carbonate and a few tbs of Gypsum... water in .... lets get outta here.
So I come back to an astounding set of ladies. Most all of the HSO Black Dog the buds are falling over .... I staked all the main stems at flip but there are many side branches. The Black Dog is nothing but buddage, big fat swollen buds hanging all over... sticky and sweet smelling. The Kimbo Kush doesn't look too bad either but I think is going to take a few more weeks. The Black Dog is ready for harvest right now...
Weather forecast... Cloudy with a bit a amber .... followed by more amber.... time to chop. I'm going to wait for the humidity to come down some ... we are in the middle of another heat wave.. 95F and 65rh... not a good time to hang dry IMHO. I can wait, I have a window... few more days and fall will be here.
Oh and the 30gal I added to the res ... it was gone this time ... so 30 gal a week at peak canna production for 8 large ladies indoors. That's a lot more water uptake that what I've been giving them by hand for sure.
As Doc said the AutoPot system is a game changer.... I'm completely stoked about this and the results are the best ever for me and the best consistency I've ever grown. <-- KEY The consistency thing is off the charts. I know that genetics is the most important but this run has been extremely easy and trouble free once I got rid of the spider mites. I got lucky with those buggers.
I've got some clones going already in soil for next round ... still smallish for flowering but I may just put them in and let them run and get a big set of the Chemdawg the purps going. My mother plant will give me a full set and then there's the mother.
Coots talked me down on topping plants and this is a good example of how they grow naturally with a lot of side branches .... just as good as the main top (apical meristem). The only reason the main stem didn't fall over is I staked it at 12/12 flip and tied it up.
Yeah so I have to give a shout out to Coots for showing me a way to build sustainable soils organically and to Doc for the Autopot system that takes that soil to the next level.
The ONLY trimming I do is the low down branches at flip and use the best ones for clones and get out of the way and let the ladies do their thing...

Coming down the back stretch with the last round now @ ~62-65 days. Kimbo Kush is a 50-56 day strain. These plants look like what its supposed to look like but this is my first time with this strain. Kimbo Kush is Starfighter X Blackberry kush.. the BK is a 65-75 day strain so I'm in the sweet spot for harvest.
We had a late summer heat wave with high RH so I've been wary of harvesting strains I'm not familiar with in a high humidity situation. All that work up in mold... would not be good. Although I try and grow mold resistant strains just for this reason. The Blackberry Kush is a mold resistant strain...
Finally tonight the temps and humidity are going to go away.... finally... wow I feel like I just spent the last 2.5 months in the tropics. The ladies seemed to be fine with it. I did not use AC - just a lot of air movement all the time. Fans on high 24/7 seems to have worked. Last summer I had AC but I've got bigger lights and the AC didn't help this round so basically throwing money down the drain and I decided to just use fans and let the ladies have at it.
I think we did OK.. I've got a bunch of clones going from the Chemdawg the Purple and also from these ladies .. I did not label the clones from this round. These 2 strains look decidedly different so it shouldn't be hard to ID once in flower.
This round has been the EASIEST grow for me hands down and results are the best also hands down. Thanks Doc for the encouragement and the AutoPot System and also shout out to Smoke Sara = all lamps in this grow are MarsHydro gear.
Lets not forget that Coots feller for bringing me along for the ride. I found soil to be my favorite part of growing everything we grow. Soil and compost are my friends... and Coots.

I did a test smoke of the Black Dog last night.. I broke a few branches harvesting ... think bull in a china cabinet. I think the plant I chopped yesterday weighed a like 3 pounds. Not a real tall plant but its heavy and hanging now..
Early green smoke report - I vaped maybe 4 hits ... slow to hit me but BAM ... nice uplifting high .. was giggling/laughing for a good 20 minutes on the train ride to go see a band in the city (Vieux Farka Touré). Taste is the same as the plant smelled in flower... earthy maybe some sandal wood with a hint of berries very mild flavor. The effect was GREAT. I think its going to be a new favorite for me.
Very uplifting .. I was like one of 4 people dancing ... but I'd probably be the only one dancing and I don't care! hahahaha
I'm one of "them" peeps with the dancing feets. YYR (Yeah you right) nothing left to do but dance dance dance... and so it goes.
Oh BTW HARVEST MOON - time to chop and/or go check it out... We should see the moon about 9:30PM eastern standard time tonight. Oh and there's a partial lunar eclipse too (already happened earlier today).
I like to use the lunar cycles for harvest and starting seeds.. so sprouting, cloning transplanting and best of all harvesting will be going on this weekend! Psyched here .. I finally have work to do.
