Alright brother Bo!

That's a sight for sore eyes! Looking forward to your thoughts on the AP system once you get settled in. The girls look absolutely healthy and beautiful. Hopefully the Borg didn't angel back in in your absence!

Ok so a mini update - still away on vacation and going to give the AutoPot system a HUGE thumbs up. Thanks and BIG reps to "Doc" drcannabi for giving me the tip for the auto pot system.

Here's a comparo from 2 weeks ago roughly and now. Needless to say I'm tickled green.

2 weeks ago:

Here's from yesterday after lights out Woohoo AutoPots are killing it! :cheertwo:
That's totally crazy growth for 2 weeks and all they got was RO water. Just goes to show WTF I know.

"Leave em alone they know what they are doing". hmmm kinda turning out to be true.

HSO Black Dog and Exotic's Kimbo Kush. The big cola plants are the Kimbo Kush.

Holy Sh!t Bo!

That is just incredible. Goes to show how well you build your soil. Without a solid LOS, the AP system would need salts and that's where we're never going to go lol! These AutoPots are easily the best investment I've made since my humble beginnings as an Organic grower. I'm just amazed with the results I got on my first grow with them. I'm even more amazed with your fist grow with them. KIG Brother!:Namaste:

Hey there Rad... yeah buddy growin some goodies this round. Wasn't even here to mess anything up so I can blame me for the good fortune..
I'll do a little update:

First off we are back home from vacation. We went to our cottage in Ontario, CA - Cottage 420... that's the number that was on it way back when I was 10yo and my dad bought the cottage. I asked him if he was going to retire and hang out there... he told me right there, this place is for you, talk your mom into it and here we are 48 years later.

We spent the last 26 days away on vacation while our ladies did there thing. As mentioned thanks once again to drcannabi for trying out the AutoPot system and suggest I try it. So I went big and got the XL which is 7gal pots and a 60gal reservoir. Our grow is on the 3rd floor of our old house to to fill the res what we did was drop a rope, pull up the hose that's connected to a garden filter...15 minutes later filled. I had our son add in 20 gal more that I had sitting beside it. Dump and run .... oh take a pic or 3.

When I got home last night at 11pm I ran upstairs threw on the lights and woooooo Doc this AutoPot system rocks.. I could grow a shit ton of top shelf with this system if I wanted to.

OK so brief overview of what I did:

7gal pot with my version of the Coots/Lumperdawg organic soil mix. Only reason "my version" is I use what I have on hand buts its still the basic Coots mix but at the base of the pot I added in a 1 1/2" layer of clay balls per Doc's advice. What the hey... try it if it doesn't work, live and learn. Well it worked in spades. I'm totally stoked at the outcome. I think the "secret" is that we make our own EWC/compost.

My take on that whole organic compost worm bin thing is we create a sort of micro climate of bacteria ... bacteria from us, our home and kitchen that the worms work wonders with and that feeds the soil that feeds the plants. I treat those worms & worm castings like gold. For me, that's the value. As long as I have the worm bin going I'll be growing stellar cannabis. I've been a worm wrangler for a long long time. Once I started adding Comfrey into the bin.... whoa...

if you could see how fast the worms get down to business you'd be afraid to put your hand in there this time of year. No doubt..
We also happened to have a stellar outdoor garden when we got back. A little over grown but lots of veggies ... all we have to do get to weeding and picking, already done.

Giving my wife the reps for that - girl power FTW.

Ok so here's a few pics of the ladies after we were away for 26 days... took them tonight:

Sorry for the crappy pics again :lot-o-toke: Shakey McShakerson was helping out with that.

Group shot from Monday night:

HSO Black Dogs there's a tall pheno in the back that tonight is starting to turn colors ... the only one so far. That plant is 5' tall almost touching the lamps

20160823_202957.jpg

The same 2 Black Dogs ... big fatty coloas. Very impressive for no love for almost 4 weeks. Oh and tonight we filled the 60gal res about 2/3 full say 40 gallons. Took us 15 minutes with a hose thru a garden filter.

20160823_202947.jpg

This on is Kimbo Kush.... all the Kush plants have large leaves so predominately Indica. I have a patient I give cannabis to. He's just had back surgery to fuse a bunch of discs and such and he prefers the Indica so he can relax.
This buds for you Big Chris! :passitleft: :RoorRip

Put down those opiates; lets see if we can go a day without ... then another... and so forth. :Namaste:

20160823_202937.jpg

Another pic of Black Dog... call her BD 1

20160823_202841.jpg

Here's a closeup of BD 1 big nugs... yummy.. these plants dont smell like cannabis, kinda more like there's a fuel depot around the corner very very faint smell of fuel. Like I should look around before starting a fire.... Did someone say: "Start a fire"..

here we go! :smokin::blunt:

20160823_202833.jpg

The big Black Dog behind BD 1 so we call here "BD 2 the Tall". She's going to get some color.. I can feel it.

20160823_202823.jpg

Kimbo Kush another... big fans and huge cola

20160823_202814.jpg

Black Dog another.. she's not a purdy as the rest but she's still beautiful in my eyes and later in my vaporizer.

20160823_202802.jpg

This is another Kimbo Kush.. I think I missed one .. I've got 8 plants in this run hooked up to the AutoPot system. I do have one more Black Dog that's in senescence and is the oldest of the lot and is yellowing not getting black. We are starting to get some cold nights tho so finally dog days of summer are gone till next year :byebye: now we can concentrate on the ladies...

20160823_202754.jpg

That's pretty much it.. all I was hoping for was a few ladies makin it thru ... now I know what I can expect from the AutoPot system and run with it. This system is a game changer for me...

I could ramp this up A LOT bigger if I wanted to. Automate the res fill and concentrate on soil mixing which is my passion.... granite, limestone dust and worms. FTW Thanks again to Doc here's a link to his grow:

Drcannabi's BudMaster GOD - Organic Soil - Venom OG - Autopots

Please stop over and say "hi" to Doc he's got it going on - organics FTW. Yeah u right! :Namaste:

Beautiful girls you have their Bobrown. Dr. has totally got me interested in the autopots too. I can't wait to get them for my next grow. Your plants look amazing after being gone for so long. Love it.

Thanks there NU and welcome to my little grow world. Yeah the AP system is a game changer for me. I bought the XL version with the largest pots they sell and a 60gal reservoir. You can get smaller reservoirs if you want to but for me the 60gal is perfect. The ladies drink up the water pretty fast once they are @ 30+ days in flower.

The rope is there as I'm on the 3rd floor - rope down attach hose and rope hose up and fill. You can see in the pic the hose is there and I'm filling the container. Takes about 20 minutes to fill it up. Saves me running up and down stairs with buckets of water... good exercise but meh... that got old after 4 years.

Results are hard to argue .... I'm very happy.

Here's a pic of the 60gal reservoir

That's a pretty bad ass set up. How many times did the 60 tank have to be filled while you were gone for the month, may I ask?

Hey brother Bo! So cool. Thanks for the props but your setup is crushing mine. You're going to be the resident expert in no time (all ready are). 26 days is incredible by itself. But when I saw those huge colas it made my jaw drop :high-five:

Black D.O.G. and Kimbo Kush are just killing it with your soil and the APs. Speaking of killing, it I saw Chemdawg hit 30% on the thc scale. Did you end up vaping yours? Was it super powerful? Makes me wonder if it was from one of these newer seed companies or a cut off the original.

That's a sweet setup but I hear you. Carrying 60 gallons of water up 2 flights of stairs isn't fun at all. I bet your legs were feeling that lol. Yep time for a rope and to get inventive lol. I just upgraded to the 25 gal and 8 pots. I figure this setup will cover me for 3 weeks emptying the res and having enough water in the pots to make it through. I'll test it before leaving but yeah this system opens doors for organic growers that were never there before. This is really the product of the year and a total game changer for me.

I hope people don't read our threads and think they can go buy some roots organics or fox farms bagged soil and get these results. You have to have some really good LOS to make it on H2O alone. I am going to use CalMag next grow just because plants love it under LED.

Glad your vacation experiment was a success and wow those plants look stellar brother! :thumb:

Hi Dr. so you would use calmag with the sohum the next time, cause of LEDs? I was hoping the sohum was a true just add water setup. Im growing one of my Raspberry Cough plants in KindSoil with LEDs, which is a just add water set up as well, I haven't needed to use calmag at all so far. It's more expensive than sohum but it requires less because you use it at the bottom of the pot, not the entire pot. You use something on top like cocoloco/perlite mix.

Hi there Nunu! The SoHum will definitely get you through 9 weeks of flower without a hitch. I'm going to add the CalMag just because I'm neurotic lol . I've never used the kind soil but it sounds great. I'd try that with the SoHum. I'm a believer in the SoHum soil. My terps were of the charts. Super healthy and green throughout the entire flower cycle. I only have 1 grow under my belt with the SoHum AutoPot combination. So I'll be experimenting a tidbit to see just how much I can improve my grows. :Namaste:

That's a pretty bad ass set up. How many times did the 60 tank have to be filled while you were gone for the month, may I ask?

That's a GREAT question!!

We had our son stop by and check on things for us and he said that I probably didn't need to add any water. I had about 20 gal of water in 5 buckets covered tops there waiting for him. He was stopping by weekly and the first 2 weeks he didn't do anything, the third week he said it was still 1/2 full but added in the 20gal of water then. When I got home the reservoir was almost empty.

Several of the plants I'd say 4 of the 8 there were flipped into flower when I started the AP system. So they weren't really ramping up water use until I'd say 2 weeks ago. Now they all are drinking A LOT. I bet one more tank full will get them to the end of the grow cycle.

I'm contemplating just letting things run the course and not mess with them at all, and then harvest.

Right before we left for vacation I had spider mites. That was almost a disaster.

I had to resort to neem oil and Dr Bronners peppermint soap for the kill down. The plants are bug free (knock wood) as I type. I have a little yellowing on one or 2 plants but nothing I'm going to do anything about. Probably too late to do anything now maybe a slurry of ewc and calcium maybe I'll do and ewc tea and let them go. We will see how energetic I get tomorrow after ... ahem trimming!

One of the things I "thought" was different this run was the slight lack of resins and terpines as the buds don't "look" too sticky. Then I bent down to turn the pots a 1/4 turn and my glasses brushed against a bud. Got a face full of stickum on my glasses and face. I had to get some alcohol to clean it off! :geek:

So yeah I'm extremely happy with this setup. I could see this taking off for us in the future for sure.

So review time:

My style of growing cannabis is pretty much the same as growing tomatoes. Stake em up and let em grow. I do trim the btm laf off the plants when I switch to 12/12 light cycle and take clones of the best looking clippings which I did right before going away.

Soil is Coots style organic

1/3 CSPM (peat moss best of the best)
1/3 aeration
1/3 Compost/EWC/soil - I used some bagged soil for the soil part from Premier..not the expensive shit.... we make our own EWC.
+ Amendments
RO Water (no need to PH test - its going to be 6.5 every time all the time)

I just up potted all the clones I took and I now have a Mother plant of the Purple Chemdawg I grew out last run. My Mother clone was almost dead when we left for vacay ... thought she was a goner but when we got home she was huge! I'm going to turn this into a nice run of a bunch of them. She was solidly up into the lights and the Apical Meristem was burnt to a crisp so I had to top that off..... oh well I'll turn this spindly little lady into something good ... :smokin:

20160823_074546.jpg

Pretty simple! Less messin and more smokin is my deal.

First HSO Black Dog to show some color... it's early but it here! I think this is a sign that fall is coming.

Kimbo Kush starting to do her thing. I'm thinking this one is going to take a little longer. Lemme read up on it and report back... :reading420magazine:

Thanks Dr. & Bobrown I will keep an eye on your grows to see how this system can be improved.

Do either of you use the air-dome feature in the pots? That seems like a good addition. IF you do use it, which airpump did you use for it?

Here's the info for kindsoil
