Cottage 420's Organic Perpetual Indoor Garden

The red chem is even prettier than the purple chem. The 30 day Chem is another knock out. The frosty 30 day buds are some of the most photogenic of a grow. Well done bb! :Namaste:

Thanks BL, that red one I just trimmed and into jars today. After trim.. bright green just a touch of purple you cant tell unless you look for it.

Smells like Mr Clean and gasoline! Vapes like it too.. the Auto Chemdawg sorta musty chemmy very light smell but it tastes like Mr Clean/Pinesol/gasoline...I know, why would I like that taste right? Well well well. I didn't first puff.. after that its all history as they say!!

Got used to it REAL quick. Now looking forward to it...

Those Chemdawg clones of the Purple mom are all over the place... I didn't know that was possible. It's almost like they are seeds and I've got 3-4 different phenos showing. Short stout & green all over/ tall lanky and red/ tall fat and purple / short stout and purple. All from the same clone mother??? I guess environmental conditions can turn on and off some of the gene profile.

The soil basically is the same as I use a recipe. The purple mother was in a no-til pot that had been used like 10 rounds! These are by far and away the best healthiest and best yielding plants I've grown that didn't take +100 days of flowering (giant sativa's).

Here's some Chemdawg Red version going into the can - one pic with flash the other not.. it's all a bright color green with a dash of orange pistols, a little bit of purple but that's mostly the camera. These are hard nugs ready for the fire, and the buds are very uniform in size; (should be a warning on the label) "Freshie Alert - meds are stronger than they appear."

Oh one more like for this strain... trimming it's a gas! (pun intended) - I think I had 10 dried fans that I threw away the rest was sugar and saving for hash. Was SUPER easy to trim.. very little waste, I was even thinking of keeping the stems with the sugar leaf trim for hash.

3 zips final dry weight green goodness. FTMFW!

I give this all 10s... bag appeal, flavor, smell, taste and best of all the effect, I could give this an 11 on the meds, it's off the charts. I'm a light weight tho.. life gets me high, all a bonus after that!

Chemdawg the Red.. in the can & Cheers:

KIG!

You were running HSO chemDawg and Black D O G? :hmmmm:

cool beans.......indeed

Black Dog yes I ran that this summer run ....ChemDawg was a springtime plant that turned completely purple.. I mean the whole shebang was purple. It was crazy... buds trimmed up green like above in the can.

I took a few clones of that one Chemdawg plant. It was the only seed I popped of that lot from HSO - I still have a handful of seeds left. I got lucky... I'm good at being lucky fer sure..

So from those few clones I had a mother and a bunch more clones and on it goes. I've got a bunch of them in flower now. The Red from above was the mother from the original clone. All her twins are in flower now and they are showing classic chemdawg traits.. smallish short FAT and green (slightly purple), Go figure. I do have one more from that purple version in VEG now. She's turning into the next mother for the spring time run.

I originally bought the Chemdawg seeds to see what all the fuss was about... now I know. Black Dog is Chemdawg x Blackberry Kush. Almost the exact same thing just an added bit of berry smell and flavor, everything else is the same. Top shelf. Kimbo Kush is Starfighter x Blackberry Kush... looks very very close to Black Dog/ Chemdawg ... everything but the meds.... slightly not as potent.

So here we are in flower:

This is the 3rd gen clone of the purple Chemdawg from the spring run. I put her in flower too soon, she's smallish.

Some Mandala Sativa hybrid ... I have 2 more.. they are in the process of back building buds. I gave them some malted barley tea about 3 weeks ago.. one plant I chopped the next week after barley tea ... left these go and was going to chop in a few days after that but they just kept throwing out more pistols and getting fatter and fatter colas.. :cheer:

More Mandala.. I "think" Cali Dream clones from last spring run. Label fell off!

Another Cali Dream close up

Here's the 3rd Cali Dream... I broke one of her main colas trying to move the Chemdawg plant that is outta control.

20161214_190214.jpg

Here's another Chemdawg feminized version from seed... not from HSO this one I got seeds from Mandala. Not sure where they got the seed from. She's takin over. Growing past my lamps in stretch .. she's almost 6' tall. I'm about the bend her over and show here she's the boss! :thumb: Last lady I had do this I had to bend over the top cola there. If I let her grow into the light I might get some mutation on the top bud.. its happened before.
This pic was taken 2 days ago... had to move her so she could grow up past the lamps. Today she's about 3" above the btm of the lamp. I LOVE having these "challenges" - time to take clones.

I'm totally floored by the quality of Chemdawg... props and reps to the breeder whomever he/she/they are. Likely mother nature giving us peeps a taste of the goodness she has to offer. :Namaste:

Al Capone ... guessing here day 40ish... getting her shit on she's a wide girl! Easily 1 square meter around.

Al Capone = (El Diablo x WiFi 2) x WonkStar (La Confidential x MK Ultra) x (Chem4 Alien OG)
I'm growing this for my old buddy Doc Cannabi... He's a Wifi aficionado. One of his favorite strains so, this one goes out to "The Doc" where ever he is. He turned me onto the AutoPot system. I'm using that here with these big beautiful ladies. Thanks Doc, you rock! :thumb:

I'm 5' 10", this is eye level... she doesn't fit in the pic.. hahahaha that's a BIG lady right there (for containers).

Speaking of the Black DOG,, I have one fixing to go in flower in the next couple days... GL and thems some nice colas Keepem Green

Enjoying your Chemdog explorations. It's such an amazing line. While the true Chems are few & far between, excellent cuts are held by many breeders who have developed some kick ass crosses. But also lots of impostors out there as well. I've never figured out why more growers don't go crazy over it & keep it as a rotation regular. A good Chemdog is up there with anything.....& yours are damn nice.

Black Dog was fun to grow... easy, grows herself and the buds are tasty... very very very good.

Here's a pic or 2 from the summer run of the BD.. she was off the charts. Chemdawg not as big a yielder but a TAD more potent.. they of course are related and taste very similar as are the meds.

Lovely as always

What is your 'usual' plant size for moving into flower ?

Well that's an excellent question there Rad! Usually it's 18-24" or so in case I get a plant that wants to double in stretch. That will give me 40"-50" tall plants and that's about where I want for canopy height. I don't top my plants ever... Coots talked me down from that and I did an experiment .. he was correct = lower yields. Topping early in VEG is fine... with indoors space is a premium so I don't want to VEG for 3 months and have huge ass plants.

Sometimes we get a runaway... that Chemdawg in my last pic ^^^ is one of them. I moved her into flower at 20" MAYBE... she's still stretching its been 2 weeks or longer. She just started flowering so she's likely done with the stretch. She took off for the lights ... was growing like 5" per day. If I was outdoors I'd be dancing in the rows! There's going to be one HUGE cola there.

I'm going to take measurements. People wanna know... :geek:

Hey there BL, thanks very much for the reps... yeah these daze who knows what we're getting. I bought those Chemdawg seeds from Mandala. I trust those folks 100%. I believe they do what they do to try and promote healthy strains and have an high bar when it comes to genetics. Picking seed suppliers is even more complicated that picking seeds!

I'm seriously thinking of doing some seeds with this purple version. I've looked into this strain and there's been a few purple cultivars going back a ways... I've got 2 big Al Capone males looking at me right now wondering where the ladies are! They know they are in da house just not in da room!!

My last 4 clones on the 4th iteration of the ChemD are all smallish short green plants slightly purple ... don't know how I got the tall purple version that turned into the short green version cloning. Every clone I ever ran was always the same as the donor plant. Could be how I cloned them likely. I've got a new cloning machine so I'm working on some more! These short plant clones never stretched... at all?? I've grown autos taller.

Hello Bob, so I'm going through your journal right now. It seem that now know what I'm gonna amend to my compost. I want to share one way to do vermicompost. I've seen a guy who had it in a bathtub. Prior to harvesting the castings he fed only one half, so when the worms were done eating one half he harvested the other half. I kinda liked that method. I dunno if I'm gonna make my own vermicompost as worms are abundant in the garden, but I know I need some shredder for the kitchen waste. Also worms like cardboard to munch on. I like how you feed your girls better than I feed myself sometimes, haha. But that ends next year and I shall grow my own veggies, finally! I will get stronger lights eventually and that will test the soil. I do not use seeds for enzymes as I do not think it is really how things are supposed to work. I mean giving plant a coconut water. I say compost the coconut shell after you eat the coconut and then use your own casting from the coconut. Hey but that's just my 0,02$. Good job so far the plants sure are looking great! :Namaste:

Hey there Tomula.. I appiciate your input. I'm going to talk a little bit about Malted Barley:

Regarding the use of Malted Barley... without the science, its akin or similar to sprouted seed teas... You've heard about people drinking and eating sprouts for health... that's the idea here. It works the same with plants and I think even better.

Malted barley is simply sprouted seeds that the malt house sprouts and at a specific time in the spouting process they halt the sprouting so that they can contain the maximum amount of enzymes, carbohydrates and other important nutrients. These are used for beer brewing and also for bread dough as an example. The enzymes and carbs can also be used in growing plants. We can add in malted barley ground up to our soil and also make a tea as well as top dress.

Here's a list of enzymes from malted barley:

Barley Enzymes - amylase, arylsulphatase, β-glucosidase, cellulase, chitinase, dehydrogenase, phosphatase, protease and urease.

Chitinase is very important to healthy plants. Chitinase helps a great deal with resistance to pests, disease and mold.

Also salicylic acid is in abundance in the Aloe Vera plant which I harvest and use to sprout seedlings and use to root clones and water in. It works also helps with pest and disease resistance as it works with the plants immune system.

That is my 2 prong attach on plant pathogens and pests as well as using aloe for cloning and sprouting seeds. My 3rd prong of defense is my IPM routine which includes many of the above sprayed onto the plants for pest/disease management.

Sorry for the long winded version... I tried to keep it simple.

Worms ... what can I say. They do all the heavy lifting around these parts for sure. We do a lot of outdoor gardening as well as a fair share of container gardening. We depend on worms for success. That's probably the best way I can describe it.

We don't worry about grinding up or processing kitchen scraps. The worms make small work of them is very short order. Healthy worms = healthy plants and trees. Most of what our growing success comes from we can thank the worms. They contribute almost 1/3 of what we use for soil mix. It takes a lot of time, effort and work to take advantage of worm power. Worms are my deal. What they do directly affects our gardens.

Vermicompost = quality in = quality out. I don't use cardboard or paper products anymore in my compost bins. Sure you can use them, but I do not. I prefer to feed the worms what I eat.

At the end of our daze..
the worms get everything we leave behind.

I think they will take all of us equally,
as they have been doing for all of time.

Something humans can learn from worms.

JK ... I have a best friend I call JK.

Round ball ... it keeps turning.

We keep burning the beautiful fire.

I don't think even the worms want what I have left....... I'd been rode hard,,, put away wet afew too many times.... Keepem Green

Jees... NCWood got me emotional... thinking about my friends. Tears welled up... thank you for bringing back memories of my mates.

Lets do a little pic update:

Chemdawg the purp clone coming down the stretch:

Sativa Love... Mandala gear... Clone from ... wow a few years ago, still going strong - they keep taking longer and longer to finish = classic Sativa Landrace.. looking like Colombian Gold here side branch pic:

20161219_183616_2_.jpg

Step back shot of her ^^^ Don't even need to stake 4 coners this time.. err yet. Leaf claw completely normal. We can see the Chemdawg purp in the back round there.. she's a shorty?? :

20161219_183605.jpg

Another Mandala sativa clone sister to the ^^^ she's a pretty girl... and buxom, just the way me likes me ladies. Rrrrrrr I'll be r-r-r-ing when we taste these buds, 63 days in flower getting fox tails now:

Best Coast Genetics - Al Capone
(El Diablo x WiFi 2) x Wonk$tar (La Confidential x MK Ultra) x (Chem4 Alien OG)

This girl started out fast and furious - doubled in stretch right out of gate in about a week. Took about 9 days to get flowers then just getting bigger fatter buds. She's got about 2 weeks I'm guessing. I thought a Christmas chop .... the pistols are changing color, and she's just starting senescence.

20161219_183509.jpg

Another Chemdawg clone.... shorty.. I've got 3 of them in flower they never stretched after flip. I'm disappointed about that. I have another Chemdawg from seed that's 60" tall and 3 clones from the purple mother that are all shorties and are about 24" - non of them stretched much at all... all my eggs in one basket. Had I known they were going to do this I'd have them in VEG a lot longer. I kept one in veg she's getting bigger than these.

20161219_183555.jpg

Here's the other 2 Chemdawg shorts.... They are solid little girls ... the plants are one huge flower. Calyx spacing is well zero.. there's no space in there... gonna be solid bad ass nugz in a few.

Those are another batch of beauties from your auto pilot garden. That top pic is world class pot pic....perfect. What do you attribute the late bloom claw in the big fans? Don't look overfed so is it just end of life plant "fatigue"? This type of clawing is different than N overfed leaves where only the tip curls & claws. I get it on some & not on others...even in the same grow. Not a big deal....just wondering. Great gardening bb.
:goodjob: :Namaste:
