Come Grow With Me: A Beginners Guide

The "Peyote Wi Fi". She's starting to get really nice looking. She was Topped & Quad-Lined & has just been Super Cropped. I think she's about wide enough for Flower; so I'll let her grow upward a quick minute before we go 12/12.

Really nice job on your training. I agree she’s close to flowering. I’d turn her about 45 degrees and it’ll fit the square perfectly. Looking forward to seeing this one flowering!

Love the plant tag idea!
Yeah, Labels don't stick to the pots very well .... lol. Best I could come up with as I'd never remember which is which without them. Once you buy a pack of Shower Curtain Hooks you will be amazed at how many uses you can find for them in a grow tent. I buy 5 - 6 packs of 12 just to have some extras laying around. In some places I use 2 or 3 just to be safe but have never had anything fall in 4 years of using them.

The 10th will be 8 weeks of Veg so planning to start Flower between the 10th - 14th. Ordering new bulbs for my lights so depends how fast they get here.

Planes Trains and Automobiles, when I hear shower curtain hooks!! Keep up the great work! I’ve learned something new already today!

This post is for @MochaBud , here's the pics.
The Light & Ballast I bought.

My light has this plug end on the Ballast (Pic is from a dimmable ballast)

I also see some dimmable ballasts with this plug end. If you flip this pic over the holes are in the same position just different shaped.

So I'm kind of wondering if the Round Plug ends on my light would plug into either of the ballast plug types.

I found Ballasts with the U Shape Plugs for $15 ea. just a mile away so I gotta ask. What you think ?

I’m going to say if the cords fit precisely, you should be good. This isn’t an area for “hobbling something together “ as you know, like I would have done when younger:(.
Anything “short “ of perfection here will create a great deal of stress upon throwing that switch. My.02. Better safe than sorry.

OH NO!!! :thedoubletake::thedoubletake: the bottom looks like a UK plug...they have different wattage's over there...I would definitely not use it...

So that's how I spent the better part of yesterday. Today I'll get the Intake connected after I get some more 4" Duct.
I'll also do a short write up on the nutrient I use & additives. Need to take the pics 1st. So I'll just go burn one & get busy on the nutrient part. Till then, In the words of John Wayne .... "Let's Fire Em' Up & Smoke Em' Out !"
Fantastic writing.....gotta get back...

Hope this isn't overwhelming. Packing all the info into this I have. Got anything to add .... Feel Free.
We'll be growing soon. Need to see if she popped her head up yet so we can get the grow on.
Overwhelming???? Heck yea.....But if you want a decent grow; you have to be willing to learn (and retain) all this info. BTW Buds----you're doing extremely GREAT! And helping alot....with this pandemic, people almost have NO CHOICE but to learn "HOW TO GROW"

I just found this "DIY Pesticide" write up : I thought it was cool.
Okay, I have good news for those of you who want to keep things simple. You can easily make a DIY organic pesticide by placing one teaspoon of cinnamon in a dish filled with one-quart water and mixing everything together. Then, you’re free to spray the substance on your plants to create a natural barrier against common marijuana pests.

On the other hand, if you aim at making a more advanced organic pesticide, add cinnamon tea or pure Castile oil to the initial mixture. You can use it interchangeably with a mixture of water and pressed garlic. Garlic comes with a plethora of benefits for our bodies, but you may very well use it on the cannabis plant as well. However, it’s best to keep the use in moderation; otherwise, it may kill the good insects as well.

Another natural ingredient that proves invaluable for dealing with common cannabis pests is cloves. Cloves are very effective in terms of the plant protection, so if you want to keep your crops clean and healthy, prepare a mixture of cloves and a couple of drops of I was essential oils like citrus or peppermint. The aroma of cloves keeps aphids, spider mites, and ants away.

Last but not least, use your preferred mix to the new growth at the very beginning to protect you to prevent cannabis pests from appearing.
Buds-----when I was gathering everything for my Super Soil; and didn't notice it til I was mixing the soils- the epsom salt that I got is peppermint scented.....in your opinion, this will be ok, huh. Hope I hear back from you before I start this strain.....the soil is still cooking...

OK ya'all, Are you ready to start growing ? Guess you wouldn't be riding the 420 Mag train if you weren't. Anyway, I'm going to keep this real simple while providing pics & details from start to finish. I'll be posting & adding pics throughout the day.
Today I'll be putting up the tent & all the necessary equipment. It's just a small 3' x 3' x 6' tent & I'm only doing 1 plant (Peyote Wi-Fi).
I'll be assembling the tent in a few minutes so I'll add pics. Hopefully this little grow will help some of the new guys out. My average is 9 oz. per plant; but I'm shooting for a 12 oz. grow this time & I'll be cloning along the way for those interested in that. I'm looking to grow this plant in the same manner I grew this one.

If I happen to run into issues somewhere or are unable to answer your question I do know the right people to call on for the correct answer.
So I'll see you all soon as I get this tent up & we'll get Rockin'.
Gorgeous pic.! Do you keep the leaves trimmed back ALL the time or just for this pic?

After prepping the Clear Cups fill with soil & water till run off. You can see if the soil is completely wet through the cup. Then let drain while making the holders from the solid cups.
Cut the bottom off the Solid Solo Cup with a pair of scissors as the Solid cups are just holders for the clear cups that go inside. Once that's done put the clear cup in the solid cup / holder & it's ready to place in the 2 gallon pot.

Hi, thanks for checking out the Journal. I've never heard of Scented Epsom Salt before. I usually just buy the $1.00 bag from WalMart. Not sure what's been added to make the Scent; but it might not play well with the other ingredients. I'd buy some unscented rather then chance it.

That was ready for harvest & it's easier to trim with the pot holding the branches for me. I got 2 hands to work with that way instead of one hand holding the branch. Just easier for me.

You know, I'm kind of surprised more beginners haven't visited this thread yet. I do understand it though. I'm sure, like myself, nobody wants to spend time reading during their 1st grow. They just want to get growing .... & then they run into a problem instead of learning how not to get the problem in the 1st place.
I'm no Master Grower (maybe intermediate); but I know enough to get beginners off to a real good start without a lot of issues. I can give a lot of the basics & then they just have to perfect their growing technique.
I'm only doing 1 more grow journal after this one & I'm done with journaling for a while. Still going to grow. Just not do journals.
I sure hope to get a lot of views when I do the "All I want for X-Mas is: MARS HYDRO" journal. It will be a sponsored grow & I bought 90% new equipment just for this journal. May as well make my last journal the best I can before I start concentrating on moving up to the next grow level.
OOOOHHHH, they're reading....or they better be... It cost alot just to get started, a MESS UP is going to costs you alot more....especially if you're having to BUY your seeds! Speaking of seeds, mine finally came yesterday, but I wanted to read the first 5 pages of this before I started playing in the dirt...lol BUT ANYWAY.... they also sent some FREEBIE seeds (NOT SEXED), so I read up some more and I decided to plant these first for 2 reasons. 1. Shorter flowering time 2. I might get a male.....if so....I'm keeping me some seed; they're NOT cheap! And instead of getting 3, I really ended up with 2! One just ended up being hull. WE'LL SEE... So let's teach me good Buds!!!!!
