Come Grow With Me: A Beginners Guide

Here we have my 5 x 5 tent change up .... again. It's a bitch to keep up with things while getting things ready to go perpetual. Sorry guys, but I don't want to skip a beat. I have to be ready to start the next batch as soon as I put these in flower.
So I added the 6" Fan to the Intake. I just used a 6" - 4" Reducer for now till I get the plants out & can move the tent to change the window kit from 4" to 6". No way I can get in there at the moment. It helped some, but still not enough.
I did notice that the Drum on my exhaust fan is a lot bigger round than on my intake fan. The exhaust sounds way more powerful. I may switch the 2 fans around.

I also added the TSW 2000 to the 5 x 5 so we will soon know if the slow growth is a "Not enough Light issue".
I've ruled out it being the new Version of Mega Crop because several growers say they haven't noticed any difference.
That means not enough light or too much training to early. Like I said, we'll know soon.

So here's some pics including the Wi Fi back at home.

Time for a little update of what I'm up to. But first off I'd like to mention that either of these plug types work fine with the lights. I looked at some lights at the Hydro store & some had the Round Plugs on the lights & U-Shaped plugs on the ballast. Asked the guy at the Hydro Store & he said there is no U-Shaped Plug end that goes in the ballast plug end. That they are all round on the lights. He says the flat end is designed to hold the plug in tighter.

So I'm replacing the Old Ballasts with these Hypotek 1000 Watt Dimmable Ballasts.

And here we have 2 pics of the Shed / Flower Room that I'm putting up the lights in. I have the 6" Fan & Filter Mounted. I have 1 of the lights up & the Exhaust Duct Connected to the Vent for outside. I'll be taking down the 3 x 3 today & getting the rest installed.

And 1 last shot of the Peyote Wi Fi in the 3 x 3. I think she is ready to flower. The room will be done soon & we will get rolling on that.

So glad you went and checked that all out to the degree you did! Plants looking Beautiful!!!

Well, well; I think it is the light causing the Slow Growth. Mars Hydro doesn't want my review on the TSW 3000; that's for sure. It says it covers a 5 x 5 Veg. Maybe if you want small plants. It would probably be OK for a 4 x 4 tent. All this BS 5 x 5 veg & 4 x 4 Flower is a crock in my book. Go with the Flower size area they recommend for both Veg & Flower when it comes to buying lights. That's my advice on lighting.
The TSW 2000 says 4 x 4 Veg & 3 x 3 Flower. I've always used these to cover a 3 x 3 area & they do great that way.
Anyway, it seems like my plants are much happier & I think they grew some in just 24 hours after adding the TSW 2000 to the 5 x 5 with the TSW 3000. Let's see the difference in a week.
I'll be putting a few of the Clones in soil this weekend. About 4 of them I think are ready.

I did get the 3 x 3 taken down & a little more done in the Flower Room. I have to buy a couple Duct Fittings from Home Depot today to finish it. Then just waiting on the Timers, Power Cords & Bulbs to get Flowering. Should all be here this week.

Exciting Stuff!!

I'm now about 80% convinced it was the light causing slow growth. They seem to be taking off now. I actually had to put both lights on about 65% - 70% as it was too bright & the leaves started Taco-ing & twisting sideways. All better now.

The clones are doing excellent. I put 1 of them in a Solo Cup this morning to see how she does. There's about 3 more with roots like this one so if she looks well tomorrow I'll put those in Solo cups as well.

Got the Shed / Flower Room as done as I can get (other then cleaning it) until the Bulbs, Timers & Cords come in. I fed this morning so it will take 3 - 5 days for the Wi Fi to dry enough to carry it back out there anyway.
A few pics of the Flower Room.

@MochaBud , does this look OK for an HPS set - up ? Both are 1000 watt with 50 - 75 - 100 & Super settings.

Hey Buds, how long do you like your clone roots to get before transplanting?
I've done everywhere from 1/2" to full ZZ Top beards but when I put the long ones in the media they just kinda pile up in a lump, etc. But sometimes if they're too short the clones struggles to survive.

These were only about 1/4" or so long. I figured they'd be harder to plant with longer roots. I have all 8 in the soil now.
6 out of 8 it doesn't seem to have even phased. The other 2 look a little wilted but I think they will come back. These went in FFOF & I only feed 50 ml. of water every couple days till I see roots on the side of the cups. Only then do I water till run off in a solo cup. But so far they seem to be doing OK. We'll know more in a few days.

Thanks! I may not wait as long next time!

Another Update : Let's start with the Peyote Wi Fi. Well I've been noticing some wet spots on her when I open my tent at lights on. She is (was) really bushy with giant leaves. Not no more. So here's some pics before & after my defol.

As you can see I don't hold back on it any. All grows back in 2 weeks anyway. But it gives growth that was hidden a chance to make it to the top.

After the defol I trimmed her up the way I do it to get the large colas you seen on page 1. I removed all the bottom growth & twig branches. I only left the thicker branches that will hold decent size buds. Doing this eliminates a lot of popcorn bud & let's the plant focus it's energy on making the large buds.
Here's the pics before & after.

So she's all trimmed up & ready to go to the flower room. I'll be moving her there on Monday night at lights on most likely. Tuesday at the latest.

I did a defol & some LST on the 3 other plants.
Here are pics of the White Widow before & after defol.
I'll be doing some more LST on her side branches. I think she will do pretty good although she had a slow start. I expect to send her to flower in about 2 weeks.

Next up is the Bruce Banger. This is my favorite of them all. I like the way the training & topping came out on her; so I'll probably do it this way more often. This plant I topped between 4th & 5th node. Removed 1st node & Quad-lined the 2nd & 3rd nodes. The 4th node I let the 2 branches grow upward. After a couple weeks I topped all 4 ends on the Quad-lined branches which now gives me 8 branches to train. I also topped the top 2 branches again giving me 4 top branches. So this plant has 12 main branches & it fills out nicely.
Here's the pics.

I expect to send this one to flower within 10 days.

And we have the Gorilla Girl (more the size of a Chimp). She's going to stay in veg a while longer. I think she will do OK in the long run & I'll be vegging other plants so may as well just let her grow.
Here's the pics.

And here is how the Clones are looking so far. I still have the one clone that was in the cup in the cloner now. It's starting to root so should be in a cup in a few days.

I also started 6 "Cherry on Top" seeds this morning. These came out of dispensary weed so they could all end up males. Hope not. Just 1 female I can clone & I'll be happy.

And that's my update for today.
