Colorful Sunset Sherbet Clones DWC

Nice. Yeah I've read about how colder temps help color develop like that. Good. Glad it's not something worse. That's easy and it appears from your current growth and nodes that you have that issue behind you. Sweet.

It is behind us for now ;) . Once we get to about 5-6 weeks in flower, I'm going to bring the temps way down at night to force the purple. Also planning on supplementing some Purpinator in with the bloom stuff to encourage more coloring. Flower might even start next week with the way these girls are starting to take off. Really not trying to have the space issues we were plagued with the last run.

Well folks, today is a happy day. Spent most of the night last night plumbing and testing our new water chiller. Decided against going with a JBJ chiller since i couldn't find one locally. I try to keep any purchases over $250 local to support the little mom and pop shops. They got me a 1/10 hp Ecoplus chiller and for a better price than i could have gotten online anyways :yahoo: And way less than the JBJ at more HP.

the chiller is being fed by a 400gph pump and draws its water from the bottom corner of the res on the drain outlet side. I plumbed the “line out” on the chiller to a bulkhead mounted bear the top edge in the middle of the res to make a large waterfall. Also gives me a stream to rinse out my measuring stuff in while mixing the juice.

Its starting to get tight in this closet but everything fits perfectly so far with room for an ac unit to the right of the tent in the near future.

Happy Friday everyone!! :bongrip:

Made and added a screen last night. It was too late to give them a haircut by the time i got the screen in so that’ll happen tonight. Plan on removing any yellowed leaves and growth down by each of their bases.

even if I'm not doing this scrog thing exactly right, this net should beat the hell out off the yoyo game we played last run.

Love your work my friend. Your attention to detail is awesome.
My tent looked like a spider web with all the supports i had.
Would love to do a scrog in my flower room. But no access. And I'm moving them to the tent now to finish up under the big lights. :thumb:

Thanks man :thanks: Really trying hard to think ahead on this one. I dont like the idea of not being able to pull one of the plants out to flush the system. But im sure there’s a solution out there somewhere.
Your Purple Pics thread blows my mind every time i wander through there. I couldn't imagine the sea of yoyo strings and supports. I wouldn't know what to do with all that fine flower :lot-o-toke:o_O

I'm looking forward to see your grow fill that room. Thank you for the kind words. The scrog dilemma isn't my forte, talk to Google Genie. If there is a solution he will know it.

Time for an update! :bongrip:

its starting to really get warm out here with highs in the mid to upper 80’s during the day. Scored a practically brand new portable air conditioner for dealing with said heat.

Now to the fun part of installing the thing in this closet and tie it into the existing duct i have running out the house. All went according to plan until it was time to fire the unit up. Turns out, my wooden “air box” creates a lot more air resistance than first thought. With that resistance, and the t6 fan being far more powerful than the exhaust fan on this air conditioner, the air from the tent was traveling down the ac exhaust vent. This was causing the unit to over heat and shut off and the temps in the tent actually went up a few degrees. Kind of the opposite effect we were after o_O

So i guess its time to make a second “air box” for the ac unit. They restrict the flow obviously, but there really isn't any other option aside from venting straight up through the roof. And that isn’t happening.

Onto the plants :yummy:
They’re looking great. Lush green and got their first hair cuts yesterday. This caused a ton of new growth pretty much overnight. They really like their new home. And they better, I've thrown everything we’ve got at em!

As they say, pics or it didn't happen!

WOW, man. Just wow. Dude, you are SO on top of your shit. I'm super impressed. A man after my own heart. Your setup is so tight and just keeps getting tighter. You think outside the box. Your setup is super clean and super organized. I notice even little details like, for example, how perfectly spaced and equally sized the squares are on your trellis. Having made one myself, I know this is not exactly rocket science. But have you seen some of the homemade trellis attempts out there? I LOVE the attention to detail on that level. Awesome. Does something like that matter? Not really from a functional point of view. But that's obviously not the point. This is how it's done.

Now your plants - Wow, those girls are the very picture of health. Beautiful consistent unblemished green top to bottom. The RIGHT green. And to my admittedly very inexperienced eye, that haircut you gave them appears to be absolutely perfect. Not too much gone but just enough, lots of light, lots of air getting through, opening up sites. Nice job man. I'm on the road to there if I can keep the girls as sweetly as I am now. Again, super impressive.

So how hard are you pushing these ladies on the nutes? And how hard do you push on the lights? Are you at liberty to say what kind of light and/or nutes you're using? (did I miss that info somewhere?)

Damn I wish I lived near you so we could have an exchange going on. :laughtwo: :Rasta:

Thanks for all the kind words man! :thanks:
It’s been a lot of trial and error trying to get everything perfect. Shoe horning everything into this small closet has been a challenge as well. I’m looking at it like engine repair. If the water pump goes, you gotta take half the crap off the front of the engine to get to it. Thats kinda how this closet is. Adding or changing anything is never easy. Gotta remove the res, both pumps and the chiller to get into the space where we need to add the second vent :lot-o-toke:

The end goal is to be able to shut the door and not tell there’s anything going on in that closet. Aside from the 2 vents under the soffit outside.

you’ll get here soon man. Once they pick up pace, i swear you just cant contain the growth. Not sure if soil will be slower but man they are growing FAST in this system.

As for the feeding goes. Im just following my charts from my last grow with a little eye balling thrown in. My ph/ppm meter went out a week or 2 ago so all i have is a backup ph pen. Just guessing on the PPM numbers and going by the look of the plants and water right now. After about 3 days into a res change, the water starts going clear again from the usual redish brown from the micro (i use GH flora with some additional stuff). Once this happens, the tank gets another 50ml of micro and 50ml of grow plus some h2o2. This usually lasts until the next water change on day 6-7. If our numbers are anything where they were on the last grow, ppm should be around 1000 give or take.

Thanks again for the kind words man, we truly appreciate it! :high-five: And we would definitely get together and talk “shop” if we were closer. Or i guess, talk “tent”

The second vent is in. Right next to the first one. It was a little difficult to replicate the first box since i couldn't get to the slot it was destined for to take measurements. Didn't occur to me to record the dimensions on the first one when i made it but hey, thats what i save off cuts and scraps for :yahoo: The new one was only off by about 1/4” so a little persuasion was all it took to squeeze right in.

Tight, but perfect fit. The weather gods have also smiled down on us with some cool weather. So no need to run the ac right now. And it couldn't be more perfect timing because i need to add another line to the closet. the ac puts us up to about 17.5 amps on a 20amp line. Above 75% capacity is a no no. So another outlet, breaker and wiring will be installed tonight. :lot-o-toke:

Nice work. :cheer:

After about an hour of tinkering the new outlet is in. Now the ac has its own 20a line so we don't have to worry about overloading the outlet everything else is plugged into.

The little ladies are really starting to fill out their screen. Every time we trim, they explode. Who knew

Definitely still have a little more trimming to do but they’re vegging right along so they’ll get another trimming in a few more days. Flower is going to start Monday when our new timer arrives.
Have a great Thursday everyone :bongrip:

Wow man, I wish I had electrician skills. Obviously they come in quite handy. What a great example of maxing out available space. Nice work. The girls look great! Plants look nice and healthy. My only issue, that one day when the fans and AC went out for a few hours, was as simple as not having the AC/exhaust fan power strip underneath the only 6"x 6" spot in the entire garage where there's just a slight but consistent mist/spray from the AC unit ridding itself of water the way it's supposed to. These don't drip if you keep them level. They rid the excess water via evaporation and just the natural slight misty spray that comes out of the top vents when they run for several hours straight. It doesn't even drip on the floor, just mists that one tiny area. Where like a genius is exactly where I had the strip sitting. Lol. Moved the strip, problem solved. The strip had a surge protector and it's on a 20 amp GFI dedicated only to the one tent, so the short or whatever didn't kill the strip or the main strip it's plugged into. Thank you, technology. Great work man. Can't wait to see what those strains do in the stretch. How much vertical space do you have to work with before you hit zero and can't possibly get any closer to your lights? And are you going to do the second scrog screen thing through the stretch? I am considering that question now for my photo grow. I kind of like the idea of double support for heavy buds, and it's pretty easy to control them through the stretch if you have a second screen about six inches or a foot above the first. Right? I'm guessing based on self-education and research, this will be my first scrog attempt. But it seems logical, and it also seems that if one did it that way, the canopy when they started to show buds and the stretch was over could, in theory, be almost perfectly level. No? Yes? Thoughts?

I'm glad your electrical issues were an easy fix. I'm no electrician, just learned A LOT building and wiring my own shop/garage. It's always nice to have a building/code inspectors number who doesn't mind fielding odd-ball questions after hours in exchange for beer :thumb:

This strain stretches too much if you ask me. But others might just say we veg too long  Who really knows lol. But they do stretch quite a bit so a second screen is definitely in the plan. If they grow up into the lights again, so be it. I'll pump in cold air from the ac over the canopy if it comes to that. The screen is already helping contain the vertical space much better than the last round.

Thanks for stopping by @Jon :passitleft:

Yeah man I'm aboard. I have a very similar scrog screen to install at the right time, only mine is wood and made of 2x4s, eyelet hooks, and 4x4 posts. I do it that way when obviously a pvc screen is easier and lighter because of the wheelchair thing. It gives me a super solid frame to lean on all the way around so I can work the plants. I have a stretchy/attach to your poles screen for 5x5 tent to use on top, which I just put where I want it and tape at the poles.

Nice, i like the idea of having the frame to lean on. Wheelchair or not that sounds great. Thought about doing a stretchy screen but all the ones at our shop were made for 6x6 spaces or larger. Not to mention i had a pile of pvc parts lying around and some masonry line from the garage build.

Saw your notifications earlier, just gotta get some work done before i head over there and rummage around. :high-five:

Does the water chiller have its own pump? Why the 400 pump feeding it? Wont that burn the internal pump up with that pressure?
Unfortunately it does not. None of the chillers i shopped around for did. I think they do this because im sure the chiller itself will last much longer than a pump will.
