Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

Picture of the two Colombian Gold cuttings this morning after a night out from under their domes. I think they look very good and won't put the domes back on again. And that will be the end of that till I see roots. Don't want to bore ya'll any more then I have to.

There was nothing boring on these 29 pages. Just sayin’. :battingeyelashes:

I'm in the same boat you are. Right now I thoroughly dry my seeds and once dry I store them in small bottles with silica gel packs in them to absorb any moisture. I store them in a cool, dark place. I have read in several places that long term storage requires the seeds to be frozen and if so they'll last for decades. I am having a hard time putting a bottle with 800 seeds into the freezer. I guess I fear freezing them will do damage to them. I do however take seeds I am getting ready to germinate and put them in the fridge for a few days prior to planting in a hempy solo cup.

May I ask, why chill the seeds before planting?

May I ask, why chill the seeds before planting?

Chilling the seeds prior to planting triggers an internal clock in the seed telling it that it's now "winter time" and when you remove it and plant it into 70+ degree soil it another trigger senses it's spring and time for it to grow.

I think keeping my other plants from getting pollinated is my largest concern about this process. I ordered the CS you suggested at the beginning of this thread Beez! Should arrive soon. I’m running autos, and I think I’m too far into their cycle at around 30 days.

Archi to this day I always find a stray seed or two when I pollinate. We're not working in laboratory grade facilities so that has to be expected. But again, if you're only using one source of pollen at a time you will accurately know both parents of any seeds you find.

Put together a final update on the clones for today ! They look great and still going strong 20hrs later.

I think we’ve got successful clones!!! Woohoo!:cheer::high-five:

EM2 is going under the knife soon lol! Snippy snippy here I come !

Celebrate!!
:passitleft:
All suggestions are entertained, MrGreene.....lol The thread is moving along but is it helpful? Did you learn anything you didn't already know? My hopes would be tips from others how they do things detailed here. I guarantee there are a ton of guys/gals on this site with a ton more knowledge then I have. I felt I know enough to offer pointers on how to breed seeds. But also had hoped I would learn some things myself from those more experienced. Heck I can't even take a plant all the way through flowering without having leaf spotting.
Everyday I read this journal I learn 1-15 things:D

Great stuff! Sorry to hear about the second male with that GSC cross #dammit

This morning when I was feeding the Colombian Gold female and male I saw a small number of pollen sacks ready to be harvested. This guy is LOADED FOR BEAR! The pollen you see in the vial came from approximately 25 pollen pods/sacks.

I can't imagine I'll need to collect pollen for more then 2-3 more days to have enough to pollinate the Colombian Gold plant in the manner I wish. She has so many lower buds I am going to sit and painstakingly pollinate all the lower buds leaving the top buds to grow out as nice seedless (hah) flowers.

Here is that bud that I pollinated yesterday on the Northern Light X Dark Devil auto cross plant. Definitely a lot of pistils shriveling up. So I'll have some 3 way cross seeds in 6 weeks. I find that exciting and hope you guys do too.

And I am definitely seeing some purple on the leaves and maybe even some in the bud itself. I'm hoping to see more purple as the buds mature more.

@MrGreene Just snapped this picture of the female CG plant. Do me a favor and take a look at the bud in the photo. The nickel is for reference. How much larger are the buds on your CG girl?
