Colesdad Tries Again - LED - GGG Baby Freedom - Ideal420 Soil - 12/12 From Seed

I have always been in awe of how different in shape that the ABs have been. Well, today I've discovered they are nearly identical. I'm around the halfway point of the plants life and I must do any trimming now, because I think if I waited any longer then it may have a negative impact. I cut every stem that didn't have a bud site. AB1 never bothered to grow anything it doesn't need, the only growth it has its bud producing stems. I've seen about 4 inches in growth in the ABs, overall plant, not a flower stretch happening yet.

6 days since last nute feed for the ABs. They look great, no issues, and still growing strong. AB2 is thirsty, she will get just plain water today. Nebula is doing great, she is fine with her minor lst. I pulled one branch down a little today because it was taller than the rest of the plant. I may tie her more once the most recent tops get bigger. The flowers on AB1 are everywhere! Very healthy girl

Looking grand sir. That Nebula looks like she wants to explode with flowers. I think I see some snow on the ABs too! Can't wait to see how things turn out for you. Are you thinking of starting another seed (to have 2 when the ABs are harvested)? I'm guessing 5 weeks left on those girls. Looking very nice!

How's the smell??

I'm going to plant 2 photo, and flip the light so I'll have 2 straight 12/12 from seed and then Nebula week start her flower process. I don't think (haven't checked though) have enough soil to fill both pots after I harvest the ABs. So I will have to hit the grow store. The best thing is to transplant Nebula a few weeks before I start new seeds. I'm thinking of trying to find a 6 or 7 gallon for Nebula. She's is in a 3 gallon now, and I had no plans to veg a plant this long.
Worse case, I will flower her in the current 3 gallon and have enough soil to start at least 1 photo in a 3 gallon.
Best case, I find some loose change and grab a bag of soil and a 6-7 gallon fabric pot.
The smell ain't too bad. My wife isn't happy she can smell it (I love it!), but I think she will be okay if it doesn't get worse. I think for sure, based on your input, I'll need something when Nebula starts flowering!
I just checked again, No frost yet, here is the top bud of 1 and 2

AB2 is angry at me, she obviously didn't need water, I think she was saying she was too wet instead of too dry. Oh well, she will be fine in about a week lol. Her she is, front left

Since Nebula is asking for water, I figured I would talk about how i soak. I start watering my plants just a few cups at a time, at the top of the soil. I started soaking the ABs last week, this week be Nebula FIRST soaking, she will look awesome tomorrow because every little root will have access to water, instead of relying on gravity when watering the top of the soil. This is also her first dose of nutes.
I place a 12x12inch plastic tub on the ground
CAM011332.jpg

She is in a 3 gallon fabric pot, she sits in the plastic tub. There is about 2 inches of pot stitting in the base of the tub
CAM011342.jpg

I mixed my nute solution in a 1 gallon jug. I slowly pour water all along the top of the soil. I pour a little, and wait. I keep adding a little at a time until her pot is submerged about an inch
CAM011511.jpg

I will let her sit for about 15 minutes. During this time the dirt will draw water back inside the pot until everything is completely wet.

This isn't a new break through in cannabis knowledge, it's something I've learned on the fab 420magazine and just I would share some pictures. All the girls will be soaked from now on. When it is flushing time, I'll just take out of the tent and water in the bathtub.

Thoughts, suggestions?

I'm not going to tell you you're wrong in any way. I don't like that method and, here's why... First is O2 to the root zone. As the water floods top down, IMO the water draws air through the soil via a vacuum. Second is nutrient buildup in the bottom of the pot. With an established root system, I feel watering to runoff flushes out salts from building up to toxic levels. That being said, I never water the way I feel is correct. I'm too lazy to deal with runoff. I do exactly what you are doing if I know I'll be out for a week or so. I'll leave the pot in an inch of water and choose the appropriate size cake pan.

I'm not recommending you change anything. Just my opinion. Looking good sir! Keepem green!

I would say a inch of water is too much a little less and you will be fine

I only let her sit in the tub for about 15 minutes after watering. If there is still water in the tub, I pour it out, then place the pot back on the floor of the tent. I should have put more in. She sucked up all the water last night! She is tall and proud this morning :)

it's fine to use a runoff tray (I use one too), just make sure you're top watering/feeding for the reasons Spitz mentioned.

Picture day!
AB2 is drinking twice as much water as her sister AB1, which is no surprise because she is twice the size. I feed them today. So far, so good. Leaves are nice and green, so they seem to have been happy with the last feeding, it was at half strength. Today I went full throttle and gave full strength.

I'm patting myself on the back about Princess Nebula. Wonderful green, aggressive growth, she seems to have enjoyed her first feed at half strength. No water for her today, she seems happy. I felt the four tops were strong enough to be trained, so I pulled then down. She also got another hair cut. I didn't realize how much new growth I had until after a looked on the floor at the leaves I trimmed, it seemed to look life even more stuff than when I cut a few weeks ago.... This makes me smile. Here are before and after pics of the cut and pulling down.

I think Nebula is going a beast in 4-5 weeks! Did you drop another seed? Looking grand my friend!!

Stop with the peer pressure! Just because all the cool kids are dropping new beans, doesn't mean I have to! :)

I'm guessing 3 weeks (based on Herbies) left for the ABs. Once they are gone I'll drop one or two, depending on my soil supply.

Everyone is still happy. Nebula has recovered from the trim and tie down, all future bud sites are happily reaching for the light. None of the girls want any water either, they are having a great time. AB1 is showing a little frost now! She has stopped growing taller and it looks like is just fattening up. AB2 is really gaining some height. The next watering will be just plain water, and I think I may stop feeding AB1 the rest of the way. It takes her a week to dry her pot out and I'm guessing she has about 2-3 weeks left.
Im very thankful for those here that turned me on to the roots organic soil. It has been absolutely hassle free. I know AB1 is super small, but, by using the roots soil, she will only have been feed twice between seed to harvest. I'm sure she would have done better if I had started feeding sooner, but she had never shown any deficiency during her time.
I moved just a couple of stems down a little more on Nebula, but I only did that just to keep her canopy even. Other than a little maintenance to keep her growth horizontal, I don't plan on doing any other training.
Pics! I couple frosty pics on AB1, a group shot and one of Nebula

I don't think "feeding" is affecting your plants. The only real trouble with autos is that you've got to be near perfect with them as seedlings or you give up yield. Take Nebula for example, stunted a bit as a seedling and when she finally grew through it.. BAM! I think your setup has come a long way and I doubt seedlings will give you as much trouble as in the past. Still, everybody stunts a young one from time to time. It looks great! I'm really happy for you sir!!
