Hi Jiggi, how many tops did you get from the fim? I'm tempted to do it with the Blueberry because the top is so beautifully formed and visible....

Well I've done it!

How many fimmings am I holding up? 😁

Most of them turned into tripods. The topped ones that were fimmed afterwards they're new growths turned into 4 and 6 limbs. I did trim off the weakest links to make room and goal of fatter colas on top

That's some true plant porn there, Jiggi!

Even PornHub might draw the line at that one. 😁

Isn't it.

It was the top that suggested the fim. I am looking forward to seeing if anything grows out of the stump!

Lol! I can't wait to see how the plant regenerates itself.

Here are some more shots of the fim, compared with the handling of the other two plants. Every time I grow an auto it is the plant itself that determines the type of training.

For instance, whilst the perfect top provided the opportunity to attempt a fim with the Blueberry, the top of the Red Mimosa came off, and the MAC #1 keeps its top.

Unless advised otherwise, I will keep both node 1 branches on the Blueberry because they are strong but I think I should remove the weaker of the two node 1 branches on the MAC #1. I can barely even see into the canopy of the Red Mimosa XL right now, it is too compact. I'm hoping the topping will give some vigour to its side branches.

@Jon I need your advice now please.

Happy Monday all. Have a great week!

Training Day 1 - update

I spoke to @Jon and he encouraged me to remove both node 1 branches on the MAC #1 Auto. I'm happier with the structure now.

I started binding branches to fan leaves with pipe cleaner, to start opening up the Blueberry Auto.

The topped Red Mimosa XL Auto needs a growth spurt!

Training Day 2

I've added some skewers to adjust the angles of branches on the Blueberry auto. I took the pics immediately after the training so there's a bit of a droop. The plant has perked up a bit already. That was a bit of manhandling due to my shaky hands.

See the different structure of all three plants.

I can't believe it's a Tuesday afternoon. It feels like a weekend for some reason. Happy Tuesday!

Today I removed the top fan leaves from the Red Mimosa XL auto to expose the undergrowth.

Last night I topped the Blueberry auto, removing the fimmed top. I did this because I don't want the plant putting energy into the top on the auto clock. I didn't think this through properly before the fim. It will take too much time to regrow that top and I want that energy going into the side branches now.

The grow

Nice work Carmen😊❤️👊. I agree with you on removing the fim. You are in a race with auto's so get those side branches growing👍.

The color has really improved! They look gorgeous and green. Very vibrant and happy looking. 😍

Until my light gets fixed I'm gonna hang out here and drink all your scotch if thats OK? I brought weed, it's on the coffee table, help yourself😊.

How are you liking your rebuilt soil so far? See any concerns yet? The plants seem happy with it. Do you have a regular top dressing schedule ready for them?

Killer green and excellent call on the top over the FIM. You can FIM an auto too, but it would be more effective on a plant that zoomed to the fourth node real fast so as to leave you more veg time for the FIM to grow out. But in my experience, a FIM that becomes three or more tops takes significantly longer to develop length/stem than a straight topping to get two. Seems weird but that’s what I’ve seen.

Oof! Any idea how long until you will have a fix? Yer welcome to the scotch Gee man and thank you for the sativa mmmm

I'm very impressed with the soil. I left a large amount of root material in the used soil from the previous grow as per your suggestion. I added the amendment which is a premixed elemental blend, and some EWC, and then I kept the soil moist inside black plastic totes for 6 months.

The second thing I've done right is set the moisture correctly from the up-pot. I have not had to water the plants in 4 weeks! I splashed 300 ml each onto the surfaces a week or so ago, and today another 100 ml each, and I mist the surface twice daily.

I did one top dress off elemental blend and EWC and that was what I water / mist into the surface.

Thank you Jon! I don't know why but every time I looked at that top I thought I heard it say: "Fim me"! :passitleft:

Thanks Con! How's the lake? I'm heading over there in a minute to catch up.

Some of you may be wondering why I removed the two fans from the Red Mimosa XL. Please try to appreciate that this undergrowth was completely covered by the fans. I couldn't tuck them because the side shoots are not exactly branching. I know that it is seldom a good idea to remove fan leaves, and I knew this would be a controversial move. However, I do believe that there is enough solar paneling left there to power what I imagine to be a small root system. This plant is only 6 inches tall. Any thoughts?
