Clones In Soil: Hybrid Perpetual Grow 2021/2022

I’m late to this show @420giirl but your plants are looking great! You are on the home stretch. Congratulations!

NTH
Thanks, and welcome! Hey, better late then never, it’s perpetual…..:passitleft:
Ps.
I just love saying that word… perpetual, for some reason :laughtwo:

You really are absolutely fucking aceing this grow lady!

Makes my heart sing with pride :)

#girlpower
Thanks, girlee girl! I cannot believe it myself, I keep saying to myself “omg I grew these, like me, 420giirl”…. If I didn’t grow them myself, I wouldn’t believe you if you told me I grew these babies lol

#girlpower all day, everyday! :green_heart:

3rd grow coming right along! All clones are pretty much ready to be up potted, which happens to be my first time doing so. I’m really excited to start the 3rd chapter of 4 plants at once in my perpetual grow. :woohoo:

How does up potting usually work? Is there a thread or bookmark I can read on the subject? I have a hard time navigating through this site for some reason and end up getting lost and never getting to the point, talk about going down a rabbit hole, there is just so much useful info, I can’t help myself. :laughtwo:

These clones started in reused fox farm soil from my first grow. Which reminds me, should I be using fresh soil every time I start a new grow? I was planning on reusing the same soil for all grows adding fresh bag to the used soil, or is there something else I can to freshen it up, is this a bad idea? Maybe a fresh bag every time is a lot easier and better for the plants?
Soil is next on my list to study or at least learn a few basic points about. I really know nothing about nothing when it comes to growing pot lol but im learning little by little here @420!

The 411
Indoor- tent ac infinity, cloud lab 3x3
Light- LED MarsHydro FC-e3000, 300w
Soil-Fox farm happy frog soil (reused)
Nutes- @Prescription Blend for the 2nd x
Pots- 3gal Fabric pot is what they will end in, maybe a 4 gal Im not sure yet.
I’m also looking into a self watering system, mostly for flower when they seem to want water every other day, geeeze…
I had a hard time keeping up this round, it was making me very impatient.
I do really like watering during veg but daaamn, especially when I have to go some where, like I couldn’t water in an hour or two, it takes almost all day, well 8 hrs, watering slow enough, taking my time. It got to be a little much every other day.
I also need a timer for the lights, I’ve been doing it manually at two different times of the day. Lol

Roll call;
Hood Candyz -hybrid Sativa
Sandia Sangría -hybrid Sativa
Future -hybrid Sativa x2
Arise -hybrid Indica x2

I’m ready to harvest tomorrow, :woohoo:
I’ll be taking Hood Candyz and future out tomorrow leaving Arise and Sandia Sangría until last this week early next week.
I can finally see some fall color’s on their leaves making me feel like I’m right in track and sorta kinda know what I’m doing. Their trichomes are cloudy with some amber with their pistil all brown or orange.
Omg…they can’t even hold themselves up any longer, even with their support. :thumb:

These buds have fallen, they’re so fat! They’re so light in color compared to the rest of her bc she was right in the middle barely getting any light. I’ll make sure to keep that in mind this next grow.

And that’s all folks, for this grows bloom anyway!

Here are some some buds I’m trying out, they’re so beautiful and smell amazing, for not being dried and cured properly.

SS, HCz and future, fresh out the FFF and BPB. :lot-o-toke:

Looks like it's going to be an excellent harvest! Congratulations. :)

should I be using fresh soil every time I start a new grow?
Soil that has been used with synthetic nutes (like Rx Blend and all the rest) will retain a lot of leftover nutes, salts, and ions in it after harvest. So if you're planning on reusing it, you should flush it clean between grows. Ideally you would dump your used soil on your outside garden and use new soil for your grows.

Folks growing organically would be the ones who reuse their soil, usually adding amendments between grows.

Ooops…. I “accidentally” broke this cola, she is one of the smaller colas on this plant. Guess I’ll just have to take a lil taste, don’t mind it if I do. :smokin2:

Thanks Shed, I really couldn’t have done it without your help so thanks a million! :passitleft:
Okie dokie on the soil, I’ll go ahead and grab a couple bags tomorrow so I can dry it out by next week when I up pot to 1 gallon fabric pots.

@420giirl @InTheShed is correct, any nutrient will leave something behind after a harvest. With full organic growing using solid amendments/compost etc., the microbes in the media are constantly cycling nutrients/organic matter so replanting into these systems with additional amendments is routine if well managed (*key point is well managed*). Even organic nutrients can become unbalanced if not managed well.

Using fresh media is the easiest way to go especially while learning and if you can spread the used stuff in a garden area to add to the landscape that is great. Reusing media with nutrient programs that have fully bioavailable forms of nutrients, which can be synthetic/natural salts or digested/fermented organics, can be done with proper management.

Peat based media does take some care to reuse. Peat media will rise in pH over time with nutrients with a high nitrate/ammonia ratio due to plant-nutrient-media interaction so its limited in lifespan and depends on your nutrient input. If your planning to reuse media our recommendation is to flush using pH5.9 adjusted water and flush slowly until your output is less then 0.25EC over your starting water (~120ppm), let it sit and repeat a few days later then retest/let dry before planting.

You recently asked about flushing at the end of flower. This can help remove nutrients from the media at the end of the flower cycle and make media reuse easier. Please consider that you should remove as many of the dead roots as you can. Reusing media can be done with practice and planning. It is easier to use fresh media but if cost or waste is a concern it can be done. If possible, use new media until you need a new hobby! Reusing media can be a headache and can impact a grow if it doesn't go well.

Also, great job on the grow!!! Glad to see your excited to apply everything you learned to the next one!

Thanks girlee, “nails done, hair done everything did, you fancy huh” lol

you had me at, @InTheShed is correct lol

ok, yeah, that sounds way too advance for my level of growing knowledge atm sending hubby down to our local nursery sounds a little more like my level of doing things. Lol

I’ve been using fox farm happy frog soil and it’s obviously been working just fine but I can’t help but wonder if there is something I can add to the soil or maybe upgrade to something “better”?

Thanks your the info! :cheesygrinsmiley:

@420giirl "better" is entirely relative to how you plan to grow and if your expectations are met. FFHF is (among many brands) very suitable to the style of growing that you used in this journal.

How does up potting usually work?
For me it's all about creating a pot of roots. When that pot's done, go on to the next. Here's kind of the way it goes. Solo cup until it's packed pretty good. A few nodes and my leaves will be over the edges of the cup. Then up to a one gallon until I see the same. I take them out and look, but not right away, maybe after two weeks I peek. When it's full of roots I'll go up to a 3 or 5 gallon and do the same working my way to 10. You will get a feel for it. Timing is everything but still loosey goosey so no fretting

omg check this out, can someone please explain this to me? I just noticed these clones I left in my garage basically to die bc I didn’t need them….. it’s been at least 2 months bc they are still in perlite, I can’t see any roots but yet the one is still alive and looks to be flowering wtf…I’m floored rn like how is this even happening?
We haven’t had much of a winter here, at all. But it’s still pretty cold at night.

Ps.Please excuse my language! :Namaste:

Ok, I wasn’t sure if there was much of a difference if I went 1, 2, 3, gallon. I’ll probably stick with a 3 gallon as my end pot bc of my space. I was thinking of going to 4 bc they started to get root bound in a 3 gallon. This is me being indecisive as per usual lol

What PB said! FFHF is great soil to use with PB nutes. Stick with what's working other than going to 4 gallon pots. I don't think you are leaving anything on the table by not amending your soil with something else. Once the medium and the nutes are dialed in, the rest is lights and environment.

I've had cuttings in perlite for two months that looked fine with no roots so I tossed them because I didn't need them any more. In terms of flowering, if they were getting an extended dark period, that's why they're throwing pistils. Is there a light on in your garage 24 hours a day?

4. Go with 4 gallons if they'll fit.
