Clones In Soil: Hybrid Perpetual Grow 2021/2022

You’ve gotta put your buds in paper bags in the fridge if you’re drying that way.
The paper bags are very much a part of the RH science behind drawing moisture from the stem. Bag those buds, babe.
Oh and clip them from their stems :high-five:
Ok, so the ones I have out on a rack in the fridge should be in bags too or can they dry this way with buds laying out on the shelf, I saw someone do it this way and thought I’d give it a try bc the bags take up so much room. I’ll change to whatever works best. I have a hard time at harvest, drying and curing. This will really be my first time. I gave up the first time, not without smoking it all up first that is m…

Sorry it’s so dark but those are buds laying in the rack.

those are buds laying in the rack.

I can only recommend what works for me.
This is what I do every time. I trim, then I wash in citric acid, then separately in baking soda (dilutions!) then rinse in filtered water, drip dry usually overnight.
Then I clip all the buds off their stalks and measure the fresh flower into bags.

Each bag gets 30g fresh flower.

Laid flat they take up room, but you can stack your racks.

The cool thing is that after 3 or 4 days when they feel crisp at the surface and start to dehydrate they don’t take up as much room.

If you are staggering your harvest you can plan around this. Each bag in the second photo started out with 30g fresh flower.

Roughly for every 4 bags you get an ounce back.

At the end of the dry as I transition into jars I will pop 3-5oz in a larger bag like you have in your fridge for fine tuning.

You’ll see what I mean when you get there.

o m g….I swear I have to make things so darn difficult sometimes . This is great, exactly what I needed to see to understand that I didn’t need all the space in the bag at the top. I thought I needed to have a huge dome for some reason:laughtwo:
Oh yeah, they’ll all definitely fit if I do it this way, now that I have a visual I totally get it! Now off to trim jail I go, I better hurry bc they’ve been hanging since 6:30pm yesterday evening. :goof:
I’m so happy to go back to the fridge method for drying. Idk it just makes me feel like I have way more control over it this way. :passitleft:

Wow I’m freaking out right about now…. I took everything out of the mini fridge and put them into smaller lunch bags at 30g per bag, I got 13 bags and a little bit of stuff that I had taken out to smoke and weighed everything and got 430g off of one tree. I realize it going to shrink to about half that but dang! If I did the math right, then that’s 1.5g per wattage, roughly.

Much better fit, with some room left for more. :p This is Hood Candyz.

I was also to get the the back bedroom where I’m drying, at 52% humidity and 62%F. I have the window cracked just a sliver with the humidifier on. :hookah:

Hey, 420Giirl!

You seemed to have worked out your mini-fridge/bag issue, but I wanted to offer another option for you to think about down the road.

I too sometimes dry in a mini-fridge and I used to use paper bags to do it. Eventually I switched to Mason jars with premium cheesecloth screwed on to the top. Like this...
IMG_4108.jpg

Before jarring I cut all of the buds from the stems. (Sometimes before jarring them I'll let those buds sit in a large paper bag for 24 hours in RH of roughly 40% to give them a head start drying.)

Note that I don't fill up the jar. I leave enough room in there so that I can periodically go in the fridge and shake them up in order to keep them from clumping together.

It takes longer to dry them this way (4+ weeks at least) but it's become almost a "set it and forget approach" for me. I just need to go in and shake them up every now and them, usually 2-3 times weekly. And, luckily, I'm seldom in a hurry to get anything dried.

Even though my mini-fridge is frost-free, one problem I had with the paper bags is that if any part of the bag was touching a side wall of the fridge it would eventually get moist, and that moisture would be transferred through the bag and to the buds in that part of the bag. That really slowed things down and in one instance, I believe, led to moldy buds. That's no longer a concern with the jars.

Just thought I'd toss that out there.

Happy Growing (and Drying)!

I am going to try this next harvest :)

It’s in my dry techniques book :)

Fridge looking good 420G.

Quarter. Depending how hydrated the flowers are to start. Once I got half back by weight but that was after some deliberate drought stress preharvest.
Oh wow, really, well a QP is still pretty good :) I’ll take it lol

Please do elaborate on this “deliberate drought stress pre-harvest”. :hmmmm:

I was able to fit both plants in the mini fridge after all. I weighed future in at 205g, until she dries and I’ll weigh it all again, Hood Candyz too.

2 down, 2 to go…..and this 2nd grow will be complete and onto my 3rd & 4th. The 4th will be @Weed Seeds Express,
Godfather OG. :yahoo:

Same, trying to figuring out which is best for me and my way of doing things. So far I have 3 methods….
Hanging to dry in a controlled environment.
The fridge, using BPB or mason jars.
The box method
Now to try them all and see which ones I like best and I’m sure there are way more out there too.

Thanks for the info, I’ll have to bookmark it! I think I’ll try this method using mason jars in the fridge instead of bpb on the next 2 plants that’ll be ready to harvest right when what I have now, is ready to go into jars, hopefully. The plants might be done sooner. :passitleft:

This method got to be way too much for me. I couldn’t keep up with filling up the humidifier, even tho it was every 16hrs lol so I bagged everything and put it in the fridge too and was able to make it all fit.

Hey guys, how high are ya? Got this form Kyle Kushman and thought it was pretty clever :laughtwo:

These colas are huge, I looked thru the loope yesterday and see a lot of cloudy trichomes which is actually perfect bc I need one more week, that way what’s in the fridge will be ready for jars, hopefully.

Sandia sangría sure does have some weird looking buds, that’s for sure! You barely touch her and your fingers get so sticky, icky. And she smells soooo good too!

Arise is crazy huge. I really want to grow her all by herself to see how big she can get. Definitely a future project, right now it’s operation stock pile lol

Foxtails! :slide:

This is the second surge I talked about. They'll go another couple weeks if you want them to, and it'll be all fresh fat trichs. Unfortunately, bag appeal suffers, so ...

If you want to see what happens from here, I'd advise reducing daylight to 10 hours or less. That will help them fill out what they have and wrap it up.

This has been a great grow! Kudos!

:thumb:

I can't wait to hear how you like Sangria - great pedigree on that one.

Can you expand on reducing light at the end of flower?

Oooh yeah, I have an update on @weed Seeds Express…. they arrived today, 3 days early:woohoo: perfect timing too. Now I’ll have a back to back harvest, exactly what I was aiming for.

Awe, they’re so cute  I love them already, first seeds ever!
:goodluck:
Hola @InTheShed, would ya mind giving me some guidance as per usual or maybe send me a link? I’m so scared and excited at the same time, here are some of the things I’m wondering about or I’m not sure of, like I was gonna go ahead and try to get them to sprout in between two plates on a wet paper towel. Unless there is another way of sprouting that you can recommend? Should I soak them in water first? I’m also trying to figure out if I should use rock wool or pods once the seeds sprout a lil tail or if I should place them directly into FF soil. I’ll also be using a propagation tray for the seedlings.
I’m definitely going to need a step by step guide here. :reading420magazine:

I’ll be creating a separate journal for this @Weed Seeds Express sponsored Godfather OG feminized seeds grow. I’ll have all the info in that journal, so please come visit me there too. I’ll have a link under my signature soon.

All advice is very welcome! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks again and again for all your support :420: :)
