CBD Joy: A Community Garden Experience

On the skin cream topic- do any of you geniuses have thoughts on how to make it stronger or more effective? I am brewing the oil in a much longer MB session- like a week. I have read of some good results with people doing that. I have lots of extra indica bud around and don't mind liquidating it. I considered making some qwiso, decarbing that and adding it. If a higher thc would help? Been having fairly critical muscle spasms and the cream is helping, just not enough. :thanks:

Have you tried adding essential Oils to your mix... May help

also what Oil are u using

I haven't added any essential oils to the first batch I made, which was with mainly coco oil. It's not done yet- it's just in oil form still while I consider messing with it more- except for a small batch I made into salve. I'm doubtful that essential oils could touch this problem. Opiates can get it under control enough to make it possible to walk around again and stretch things out.
The currently brewing batch is made with jojoba oil.

I'm sure QWISO method of Concentrated Cannabis Oil :cco: would be stronger - it's strong stuff; at least 10x stronger than infused oil I made.

How much bud have you crammed into your batch of oil. I infused 16g dry bud into 2 cups of oil (the MB2 minimum.)

Does anyone know what the upper limit is for adding bud into infused oil?

Rad,
The upper limit is how much bud you can manage to get into a given amount oil. I don't think you will come close to the saturation point of the carrier oil. Any oil that was not recovered would have a higher cannabinoid concentration than if you used more carrier oil so it would a good idea to add some kind of water bath or alcohol rinse after straining.

Looking good! :thumb: You have a great selection of CBD strains in your grow room, and I look forward to hearing your report on them. Candida and Blue Dream CBD are my only ones right now. But I'm certainly going to want to try many more!

Thank you! I do like to have my variety, but something tells me I want to try a scrog sometime.. It would be much easier with all the same strain or something that grows similar though when it comes to keeping an even canopy. I just can't help myself trying all the different ones :)

The only one I have harvested so far is the CB Dream and im not really the best at strain reports lol. It is a decent all day strain, doesn't hit too hard but still has enough THC to take that edge off when needed. I haven't tried extracting any, just smoking, but it has helped my knees feel better over time especially in the weather changes lately. Worst part is I am pretty much all out of it, few nugs left. Oh, and it had a really different smell to it, it was odd and I couldn't think of what it smelled like... lol

What a cool idea. I wish I could see that happen everywhere else. How wonderful would it be to see these beautiful plants growing freely?

The whole overgrow canada thing was set in motion by Dana Larsen, a cannabis activist. Last 2 years he has given away over a million seeds in his tour as well as in the mail to those who wanted. It was more of a political protest to say we should have the right to grow our own medicine, he asked for them to be planted in public areas or even in your front yard. I've got 100 of them right now lol

The recipe I'm using is either 400 grams of bud to 500 ml of carrier oil or 400 grams of bud to 300 ml of oil. That 300 ml batch will lay you out if you don't have some decent tolerance level built up.

Weaselcracker, you can double the concentrations of THC and THCa by running your finished oil with fresh plant material. As Canyon pointed out the lost oil still being held in the plant material is a lot of valuable cannabinoids that can be reclaimed with a hot water dunk and some skimming.

My oldest CBD Critical Cure comes down in the morning. I'll be turning her into oil right away, doing a little experimentation to try and make the process easier.

400 grams of bud in 300 ml of oil, Sue? Like almost a pound of bud, in a little over a cup of oil? I'm surprised you can even make that work and have any liquid oil in that mix. Thanks for the tip on skimming out the oil in a hot water bath- that's what slows me down from adding more and more bud because my jojoba oil costs about $20 per cup and is hard to get here. So I think I will make some QWISO and add that to the oil for pure THC content that doesn't take up a lot of room.

What do you mean by 'running my finished oil with fresh plant material'? Like what would be that process? I have a critical cheese that is overdue for harvest which I'd be happy to use. :thanks:

And, does more thc necessarily equal less pain?

Sue the critical cure has been my top choice based on your journals. Thanks for all you do on here

Good to hear J. You won't regret it. And you're welcome. This membership inspires me, and it's wonderful to have such a diversified outlet for my manic energy. :battingeyelashes:

She.... Sue...is Killin me smalls......
Lol
Now I gotta get another strain to grow.

Side note...is funny how sativa vs indica effect people or women vs men
My GF ,we just found out, likes sativa a lot more than indica. Indica get her loopy waisted and sleepy and she forgets alot...lol
Now sativa high she enjoys and gets more motivated
For me indica is my go to. Love the high and energy. Now sativa I do like the energy it gives me but I also get a lot of anxiety from it

Hmmmm maybe it's a girl guy thing

I'm exactly the same way as your girl, and I've suspected for many years that your theory may have merit, but then I know women who can't tolerate sativas without anxiety. We're going to learn a lot more about all of this when California goes recreational in January. The data streams from that state will change national perceptions.

Let the OBSESSION continue to grow.. Feed the Monster... Feed the Monster:high-five:

Ive had an order started at Seedsman for a few weeks, Thanks to Sue's continued peer preasure:circle-of-love: I placed it just Now.

And Yes... CBD Critical Cure was on it. I also got Original Skunk #1 Reg seeds to maybe do my own breeding. I figured since Ive started Scorpio420's Pharmaceuticals and Scorpio420 Nursery, both a subsidiary of Scorpio420 LLC , I may as well start doing some Frankenstein testing as well :thumb:

Wow.... Lots to decide in the next 4+ weeks. So many strains... so Little Room

It's only begun Scorpio.

Will get back with photos on both my CB Dutch Treat and CB Dutch Dream (30 days in), both soil grow in a greenhouse in Maine...

:welcome: Blew Hiller. :hugs: I have CB Dutch Treat seeds. It'll be nice to see another growing.

 Sorry Weaselcracker, I keep forgetting that not everyone processes their buds to oil on harvest day. That 400 grams to the 500 ml or 300 ml of oil is wet weights. For ease of calculating I convert the 400 grams to 100 grams when running dry.

It hadn't occurred to me to try running finished oil with fresh buds, but geez, that sounds like a neat project. I don't know how much of the existing THC would be converted to CBN during the 2 hr decarb process though, and for sure you'd have almost no THCa left after another decarb run.

I like the idea of a QWISO oil added to beef up THC.

:hmmmm: Now I'm getting confused. I was just referring to what you said here-

I'm going to do a qwiso run today and add that in.

What I meant was to take the processed oil and cook it again, but this time with new plant material. Dry would be what most have on hand, so you could decarb first and then do an intense two hours of heat and agitation to get the additional cannabinoids released and bonded to the oil. It's much easier to start with a double batch of buds, but sometimes, in a pinch, we have to think outside the box.

The additional THCa would be by whatever method you used to extract acid cannabinoids.

Here are some photos of CD Dream and Dutch Treat, Day 45, in soil in a greenhouse in Maine (currently rainy and 45F outside, cozy and 55F in GH :thumb:) The labels on the pots say which is which (DR=dream, DT= treat)

Looking great! So jealous that you can use a greenhouse. It's always been my dream to have one.

If I did a Green House.. It would be like 145deg in it....lol

:laughtwo: Not sure the ladies would like that. Always dreamed of one, but now realize I don't think I'll ever do it. My heat sensitivity has led me to indoor gardening only....and I really dig it.

Dig it! OMG, that's such a bad pun.

I moved all my plants to the GH full time April 25 and they have been fine with temps ranging from 45F-100F. I had a lot of trouble finding data on whether this would hurt/kill them but they are flourishing. I built the GH myself and incorporated 400' of 4" drainage pipe in 1.5' of crushed rock (40,000 lbs). I run a fan during the day and that pulls hot air from GH into thermal mass (rock) and then the fan shuts off after sunset. The thermal mass slowly releases the heat during the night to keep the chill down. Also, the fans move air in the GH during the day which the ladies seem to love...and it smells GREAT!

I harvested CBD Critical Cure 2.1 yesterday at Day 97, 54 days after flip, and turned her into fresh harvest oil.

There are 47 grams of wet buds drying in the refrigerator, and OMG does it smell good every time I open the door. :laughtwo:

I got 350 ml of pure oil and 1/3 cup of oil that has some water in it that I'll use with my next bath salts mix.

The backups:
CBD Critical Cure 2.2 is now 76 days old and 36 days from flip. She just got her first CAT drench, one of the latest I've seen given, and I'm hoping she responds positively to it. I messed her schedule all up by not realizing I'd sent her into flower a month early.

IMG_71006.JPG

CBD Critical Cure 2.1.1 (Day 52) just got upcanned into 7 gallons. She'll be the next one into flowering mode after about 20-30 days getting her root ball established.

IMG_71086.JPG

CBD Critical Cure 2.2.1 (Day 22) is beginning to send out normal veg leaves.

I realized today I'm running out of soil. Time to scratch together the green and order more supplies for the next batch.

Playing with a bit of training. I'd like to see if I can get the branches to curve around the pot to contain her within that footprint.
