CBD Joy: A Community Garden Experience

Hi Weaselcracker!

I'm really interested in your use of Jojoba oil. I know it's really expensive here too (MA). Have you used it before? Does it have a higher or lower boiling point than Coconut or Olive oil? Do you find a difference in absorption of Cannabis oils vs the usual use of Olive or Coconut? What was your thoughts in using Jojoba instead of the others? Inquiring minds would like to know!

What is QWISO?

Thanks in advance! Just trying to learn!

I believe QWISO would be Quick Wash ISOpropyl alcohol - as in the Rick Simpson method.

The technique (using non-poisoned alcohol) is described in detail here ==> How To Make Concentrated Cannabis Oil

[FONT=&quot]Good afternoon.

Here are our CB Dutch Treats, which are each 25 days' old. One of the leaves on CBD2 isn't looking very healthy. It's curling under and has brown spots on it but no bugs that we can see. If anyone has any suggestions on what it could be, that would be good:

Hey BEL. Sorry it took me forever to get back to this one. Unfortunately I'm pretty short on info for you, and Radogast kindly answered about the only one of your questions I actually know the answer to. :laughtwo:

I'm a total newbie in the field of cannabis oil, decarb, skin creams, and pain management. Totally fumbling my way through this and am somewhat foggy on some things- especially decarb.
However I've now produced a fairly large amount of oil in the last few weeks and have various different concoctions in jars and bowls all over the place.
The cream works for pain. It's just a bit hard so far to quantify how much. It doesn't solve every pain problem- but it helps a lot.
My last batch used at least five ounces of bud altogether (in two cups of oil), and I can't really tell that it's any more effective than the previous batch that used about two ounces.

As for jojoba oil- my gf makes salves and actually has a lot more experience than me in this dept, though not in relation to cannabis. So she's the one who got me into the jojoba as she uses it a lot. It has a really nice consistency - seems like it's very compatible with human skin- not the least bit greasy and absorbs nicely. Your skin feels just like happy skin after, and not like it's been coated with something. Lovely stuff and very expensive and precious. Still- for $80, a litre of it can make a lot of cream and oil.

As for its effectiveness in relation to cannabis- I really don't know. Like I said- the first batch which was with coco oil, seems just as effective for pain, just annoyingly greasy. But with all the mysteries still in my head, mainly around decarb times and temps, there are lots of ways that I might have skewed the results, and I wouldn't begin to know how.
No idea about the boiling point either, but I never got anywhere close to boiling temps with the oil.

It does seem though, screw ups and unknown factors aside, that adding more bud didn't make the pain cream more effective. So I wonder what, if anything, would?

You can potentiate the pain cream with the addition of essential oils. Dave Groomer has the most experience with the creams. I'd make contact with him, or ask in the topicals study hall. He'll answer there too. I know they'd appreciate your info on using jojoba oil. I like the sound of it, but not the price. As you say, a little goes a long way. Think I'll look into it myself. :battingeyelashes:

There's a saturation point to the oils, but no one has tested to find out what that is yet, so here we are playing lab rat with extra stock. The original recipe was using only 2 grams of cannabis buds to about a half cup of oil, and it was healing burn scars and diabetic ulcers. I think you may have passed the saturation point Weaselcracker. :laughtwo:

The real secret in the effectiveness of the pain cream is in the ratios of THC to THCa with that tiny amount of CBD to potentiate the THC.

New Thread Alert!

DrZiggy developed a drying technique I'd like to see us nail down for easy and consistent results, so more of us will be tempted to potentiate our harvest in this way. Please consider joining us in this new adventure. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Lol. I don't own a refrigerator. Never had the need when this place i live in is a refrigerator year round...

Use a root cellar. Same effect, if you can hold down humidity to acceptable ranges. You're a resourceful lad. :laughtwo: There's a beautiful freeze dryer I'm looking at that'll take some serious cosmic movement to acquire, but a gal can dream, can't she? :dreamy:

I found it a nice little idea to post this on here too: Bought some new nutes today!
420-magazine-mobile648453338.jpg

The whole CannaBio range and just for 120 euro's and that's because it's a Dutch brand and I am Dutch myself! Anyway, good nutes for every kind of grow medium but it's highly recommended that you use biological products with other biological soil or cocos or other stuff. But I probably don't have to tell you guys about that because most of you are better in growing than me .

I do not use my MB2 for my grape seed oil I use for cream. I find that my infused oil is "cleaner" by just doing it all in the oven. It is also SOOOOOO much easier to strain!!!!

I take 1g / oz of oil (bod) or 3g / oz trim. I start by putting it in an oven roasting bag in the oven at 230F for 110 minutes. When I take the bag out, before opening it, I crush everything up inside the bag as small as possible. Add to oil and put back in oven at 200f for at least 4 hours. I do it mostly at night and set a timer to get up. Sometimes I just let it cook for as long as 8 hours. For topical oil it is fine. If you are making for edibles, I don't like to go over 4 hours or so. Long cooking times can sometimes effect the taste of the oil.

After it is done cooking, I strain it twice. Once in a mesh colander then in my MB2 strainer bag. It takes all the sediment out. For topical, the sediment can be a little irritating So I like to get it all out.

For thickening, I use a cosmetic grade soy wax. I will add 100g of wax to a cup of oil. Put it all in a microwave safe container for about 1 1/2 minutes. Wax will melt into oil. Add you favorite essential oil (We like lavender) and put into jars.

1g per oz is the strongest I have made. I am sure you could go with more, but like everything else we do around here, it is a trial and error thing. I may make my next batch stronger now that I have a little better supply. :circle-of-love::peace:

Thats the same stuff I'm using and so far so good!

Barney's Farn / CBDCrew CBD Critical Cure went into flower area today

CBD Critical Cure - 20 inches tall in 7 gal GeoPot - Doc Bud's HiBrix soil and nutes.

The canopy is a bit uneven measuring about 20x25" at the widest Topped once then LST every 2 weeks or so.

At 75 days old, she really wanted to be in the flower area 15 days ago - but there was no room.

That extra 15 days will greatly improve your harvest yield Rad. I'm considering repotting the 7 gallon pots to 10 gallons at some point and veg them for 2 more weeks before I flip. That's what you did, minus the transplantation. It'll pay off big.

You have a natural affinity for this hobby Rad. The canna gods smile mightily on you. :cheesygrinsmiley:
