CBD Joy: A Community Garden Experience

Day 7V

They are getting bigger and taller. So far, things seem to be going well. A little yellow on Norther Lights #1 that I mention in my grow journal, but I'm trying to not worry much.

IMG_373214.JPG

That could be natural coloration. Some strains just grow more yellow. It's too little to be concerned about anyway unless leaves start to wilt.

Thanks, Sue! No signs of wilting. In fact, they are taller and happier this morning after I raised the light a few inches yesterday. Candida's stem is leaning a bit, but I'm not concerned since that seems fairly normal for many seedlings. Stem seems strong and handles the breeze from the fan well.

What else could our favorite girl Sue use????????

That's so sweet Scorpio. :hugs: I don't really use the cream for pain, since I'm blessed with vibrant pain-free health. I use the cream as a skin tonic, and regardless of what we know about the coconut oil it's the one I personally prefer.

Thank you rik. :hugs: She's a pretty one, to be sure. :battingeyelashes: With the phone pictures, you have to take them in landscape format to get them to load in. We usually take pictures with our phones in portrait format. Those post sideways. Try turning the phone to landscape orientation and see what happens.

With Android phones, CROP the photo from the photo gallery/photo viewer and save the cropped photo. This changes the orientation of the bits so 'what you see is what you get' after uploading the cropped and saved photo.

Excellent. :circle-of-love: So how well would a cream work on deep musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain?

Thanks for asking this. And thanks everyone for the info. This thread is so on topic for me right now. Just finished making a prototype batch of oil, which I sort of made up loosely based on Dave G's recipe courtesy of Sue. I added way more bud than the recipe called for. I don't know if that's wrong, but I figured it couldn't hurt, and I've got lots of jars of bud from various one-off indica strains that I'd probably never smoke. I usually just smoke sativas. The 'best' (apparently that means 'strongest' :laughtwo:) indica strains go to some patients- but I'm always trying new plants- so my shelves are starting to overflow with the bud from the one-off strains.

For the oil I used coconut oil because that is all I had at the time. I used the Magic Butter machine- made a little sample of the oil into cream as well.

The way I feel about this whole idea of cannabis pain relief - it's somewhat like buying a lottery ticket (if I bought lottery tickets). It's basically just an interesting dream and I'll bloody well believe it when I see it. But I've been trying the oil and cream as a topical for a few days now and I'm well down the very happy road to being convinced that it works. I can hardly believe it. I'll remain skeptical as long as possible.
The pain is from some spinal issues and is a deep seated ache right in the core of me- all the way up my spine, leading to neck spasms, shoulder pain that keeps me flipping back and forth all night half awake, crazy lower back spasms and hip pain- and basically every other muscle in my body feels like it's been literally beat with a sledgehammer most of the time. It's pretty much constant, and gets really demoralizing after a while. Opiates keep it at bay but I like to keep the opiates at bay too so I'm always letting them wear off, and just take more when I absolutely have to. Tonight is a good example since it's been about 36 hours since I had any opiates and the pain has been trying to take over again. So it's a good time to test the cream out.
I've been trying to do before and after tests of this stuff. For example, just now I lightly massaged my neck - which hurt, and made me groan and gave me that feeling of wanting to collapse a little. It's like a tinge of panic at how messed up everything feels, and a feeling of being a bit sorry for myself at the state I'm in- if you know what I mean.
I rubbed a little of the cream in. I'm seems to work almost instantly.
Now, a few minutes later, I can rub my neck and while I still feel a little ache in there if I press hard, its just a normal ache and there isn't that deep pain and shitty feeling of 'oh god- I'm in trouble'
I feel and smell like a relaxed and sleepy, rather oily, coconut cookie. I'll work on the recipe more but I'm feeling unusually optimistic about this whole thing.

It does look pretty funny though I do have to say... And no, you guys are not high! don't worry! the picture actually is upside down so let's try that again!

Likewise with iPhone. Any sort of pre-editing seems to prevent the upside-downs syndrome.

Relaxed and sleepy coconut cookie....love it!!! I'm feeling optimistic for you! :hugs::Love:

Sadly, I do know exactly what you mean about that feeling of "Uh oh, I'm in trouble here." Sometimes it's just a small warning. Sometimes it feels like a lightening bolt of pain. There have been a few times that I could have really found myself in a pickle because the warning signs were too subtle. Thankfully, my service dog will alert and not let up until I do something about it. He's the boss around here. :laughtwo:

I ALWAYS have infused coconut oil on hand. I put a teaspoon in my coffee in the am and I use it for my brownies!! For edibles, you are best to add sunflower Lecithin to increase bioavailability. You don't need to add it if you are using the oil for strictly topical use. If you like the cream with the coconut oil, you will love it with grape seed. I made an extra strong batch for one patient the was 1g / oz of grape seed oil. She found that worked better for her then the "diluted" version. :circle-of-love::peace:

When you harvest there isn't any THC, it's all THCa. It's the decarb that changes it to THC, so the challenge becomes either controlling decarb to finish when about 60% of the THCa has converted to THC, or make two different extractions, process one for maximum THC and one for maximum THCa. This seems more reasonable to me. Alternatively, it could be done with a high THC oil, doing an additional extraction step without heat to get the THCa.

The frustrating part is knowing I won't be able to get them tested, and I don't yet own a tCheck. That would've come in real handy here.

Have you checked localy Sue. I have a Few places that will test for THC, CBD, THCa, etc. They test Oils, Flower, edibles...

Maybe do a google search.

Wanna say its like $30-40 per test. But to do one, may give you a general idea if you have traveled down the right Road.

I live in Pennsylvania. If they get their medical cannabis program up and running before I decide to move from here I'll be surprised. The law was written to exclude the right to grow your own, so no need for testing facilities are there?

People who have no understanding of the ECS and the medicinal applications of cannabis are writing the laws based on their perception that this is a dangerous drug that requires close supervision and their desire to increase the money in state coffers. Until we can change that mindset we're destined to be working in the trenches, learning as we go without the benefits technology can offer.

Weaselcracker...... :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

*sigh of relief*

I have a difficult time knowing so many of you live in pain, which is why I'm so determined to get you all on some capsules and topicals. I'm a skeptic, like you. Over a week now on the fresh harvest oil capsules and I'm still reaching for that first dose and wondering if it'll have the same effect. :laughtwo: It's science, basic biology. THC hits the pain everywhere and quiets the pain response signals at three different points. The THCa does for the skin what CBD does through the gut or when inhaled and tamps down inflammation. The inclusion of a small amount of CBD in the topical potentiates the THC. The three components together are a winning combination for a topical.

Grape seed oil works best for topicals. I personally prefer the coconut but I'm odd. :laughtwo: I can cook with the coconut oil. Lol!

How sweet to learn you have a service dog. :hugs: Prepare yourself for the change coming in your life. Your canine companion won't have to work so hard. :laughtwo:

The topicals panel I watched mentioned that extra-strength concoctions brought extra-strength healing.

This is the difference between cannabinoid-based creams and other pain creams available out there - cannabinoids speak to your body in ways that promote healing, not simply in a way that brings symptom relief.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that the cream worked so well for you. Thank you for your story and I hope it continues to help.

Sadly, this is so very true. Especially in North America, I think. ☹️

It's worse in the UK and Australia, IMO. Even Canada hasn't seen fit to make access more open and to educate their doctors to use cannabinoid therapies as a first-line treatment. Witness G2HM. When she was diagnosed the information on Alzheimer's and cannabis was already out there, just being ignored by the very physicians whose patients could gain the most benefit.

I was including Canada in the North America part, you know. :;):

I must admit I don't know much about cannabis use in the rest of the world.

I figure the fact that my LP continually puts out indicas with high THC is because they know that most new cannabis users know that THC will make them high but they don't know enough about the plant itself and won't know about indicas and sativas and hybrids. I didn't know before joining 420. And, they're pushing it out in indica form because indicas are calming for the most part and that's what the government would prefer for people using marijuana recreationally -- stoned but quiet, couch-locked stoners. At least this is my belief.

Personally, I find it frustrating as I'm always looking for a balanced THC:CBD ratio for both daytime and nighttime and these high THC indicas are only good for couchlock highs and putting me to sleep. And, my LP is supposed to be selling "medical" marijuana not marijuana just for getting high.

And, if this is too rambling or doesn't make sense, you can blame Felonious for starting me out on a hike and then vaping some Dark Devil and then eating a brownie (and a half). :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hi All,

FYI, less than 1% of Canadian physicians have/will prescribe cannabis. So while the Supreme Court ruled cannabis as a medicine to be a constitutional right, there are still many barriers to access. The proposed new laws for legalization severely limit growing and purchasing options. Mostly we are being sold out to Big Cannabis.

Our Prime Minister has refused cannabis amnesty until the new laws take effect, even though he recognizes that the police use cannabis laws unfairly against visible minorities. Thousands of Canadians will be caught in the legal system so the friends of the Prime Minister end up with a captive consumer base.

The system stinks, but it is still better than most of the world. But it is still a long way from justice and freedom.

Peace. :peace:

Here in the Netherlands it's legal to buy your own recreational Cannabis and you can just buy Cannabis oil. But doctors will never prescribe something with Cannabis. Most of the doctors even say that that's drugs and very unhealthy! So, tell that to someone who survived cancer due to Cannabis!
