Carnival: A Community Grow Experience

Today after planting a flower garden all day, Carnival caught my eye.

I was going to water her, but she looked too darn cheerful to need more water

She looks about ready for the change in light. What's your plan here?

He hears that a lot. :laughtwo: TheRedDragon grows monsters, and that takes more time in veg than most choose. He's trying to surpass the previous grow. I believe he's planning to veg her another two to three weeks.

I'll have to get some pictures of mine today when the lights come on. Yours is looking beautiful Rad.

Dave, may I ask, when do you time the first CAT, and when do you schedule recharge?

Dammit! I can smell them from here. :laughtwo:

I do my Cats at 21 and 28 Days. I don't always do a recharge. Some strains seem to need it more then others. The Carnival, not so much. My c-99 and Train Wreck really seem to need it. I will usually do it at 14 days. I also dd a couple handfuls of EWC.

There are 5 or 6 main colas on the older plant that have flowers running down their entire length. They are longer then my forearm. The other one will be bigger. :) :circle-of-love::peace:

I'm using the flowering cloning technique you suggested. I'm hoping to replicate the wonder you have going on in your tent. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I don't get a full week between waterings anymore since I started using Doc's suggestion of a gallon of water per drench, per 7-gallon pot. I get five days between, tops.

The recharge is still a mystery to me. How do you determine which strains need it and which strains don't? With the autos I decided it makes more sense to amend the soil with the recharge instead of using it in the flowering cycle. Autos take less nutrients. I'll take your advice about the Carnival. Maybe use a light topping of EWC instead this time and see what works. With the next CBD CC I'll try this, because I suspect they're light feeders too. The one I have flowering right now won't be a good candidate to judge the change, IMO.

I make up 2 gal of drench for my 7 gal pots. I drench them till I have runoff. That takes them through the week. My 7 gal pots in veg usually only needs 1 gallon. I am also starting to add Wayahead 10x to my brix spray, :circle-of-love::peace:

The Way Ahead leaves residue on the leaves that looks like mite damage. That's making me too nervous to use it this time. I'm trying to get past this, but again today I left it out.

You water your plants the opposite of how I water mine. :laughtwo: In veg I water to runoff, and in flower I started doing what Doc suggested and stick to a limited volume of water. They've been responsive to this, but looking at your pictures they've been responsive to your schedule too. Do you do two plain waters in between? Actually, I do one plain and then one TransWater between drenches.

I wonder how they'd respond if I upped the volume of water for drenches and kept it limited for between waterings? :hmmmm:

Dave, how much drench do you add per 7 gallon pot of soil?

I don't usually give them anything in between drenches. Sometimes my seedlings will need a bit of water in their 1 gal pots, but usually just the young ones. I don't like to over water them. Each Gallon of water gets 4.5 ml of drench and .5 of tea.:circle-of-love::peace:

Hmmmm...... Interesting Dave. They certainly do respond to that. We speculated that my habit of not doing water between drenches led to my bad batch of soil, though there's really no way of knowing, and that soil had two emergency teardowns, so it was totally out of whack. That was incredibly frustrating to deal with. A couple more years down the road I'd have handled that differently.

I think I'll play next round and do one Doc's way and one your way. Then I'll decide what works best for me. You're getting bigger production out of the same soil and plants. I wanna be you when I grow up Dave. I want fatter flowers filled with potent oil. :laughtwo:

A study in Carnival contrasts

I have two running at the moment, and a cutting making roots.

Carnival 3 (Day 75, Flip +28) growing with Doc Bud's HBB Kit. She'll get her first CAT next. Running a little late on this one, but she'll have time to bulk up. She has better than six weeks to go.

Carnival 4 (Day 50) happy plugging along in her hempy pot with Osmo Plus.

The cutting should be potted up in the next week, giving me three Carnivals at once. Does life get any sweeter than this? I think not. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Three days ago there were no roots visible. :laughtwo: Meet Carnival 3.1

This post is designed to make Graytail smile. :cheesygrinsmiley:

The father of my daughter's partner is a cancer patient, and a recovering substance abuser, so he passed on the offers to have a caregiver when he lived in California, because his mentality was smoking cannabis would send him back into that cycle. He's since gone back to smoking to relieve the pain, when he could get it, and from the street market. Yuk!

But he has a lot of pain and that makes it difficult for him to sleep. So one day last week I offered him a selection of strains and products to let him feel them out, see what worked for him. This morning he drove me to the FedEx store to ship off the last light panel and when I was settled in the seat he turned, his eyes all alight and smiling real big, and said "That Carnival is excellent smoke! Two hits and I'm good."

Made me all warm and fuzzy, and glad I have three more coming up at the moment. Looks like I'll be growing Carnival pretty much non-stop. The influence spreads Graytail. See what you started? . :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

I just took my latest Carnival clone out of the cloner and put her to dirt. :circle-of-love::peace:

Wow Dave, TOAST's cloning technique has me spoiled with these big-ass clones I take. I never clip leaves on mine, and it's never made a difference. I've never understood why this is done with clones. Do people really have that much trouble with cloning that it requires you to damage the cutting? I take one cut per plant, that's it, and they typically take up to two weeks to root, but I'm running 100% success with those effortless produce bags.

This is cool. We get to watch each other's plants develop in the same timeframe, same strain, same soil. :slide:
