Carestaker's Chemdawg Crosses In Soil & Coco - 2016

Man you can grow them brother! Running out of superlatives....simply perfect & beautiful. Able to see the shared genetics in Buddha to my recent Louis XIII w/ all laterals growing straight up. Does the addition of ECSD to the SSSDH tip things noticeably toward the ECSD/SD genetics? Wondering how it compares w/ SSSDH? Also been meaning to ask you if you've tried the Shire cut of SSSDH since its origins are from your area? Great update....enjoying the pics w/ morning coffee.
:goodjob: :Namaste:

Thanks BL. It's always nice to hear from peers that grow them like you do, no matter which words are used. I'm not going to lie, they are grown very well. Not quite perfect, but for the effort put in, and lots of floating variables, and the trip to the closet, I'm almost shocked that they look this good. For the Buddha, I love that trait on certain plants that like to go UP. Not so much on shorter girls, though. ;) I have a clone of her, and if the smoke is good on my pheno, I'll give her to a friend to monocrop a bit. Her buds aren't huge, you're right, but they are building and stacking, so yield should be pretty good for this type of genetic. I may yet hit my mark for this one with just the four.

Sorry, I wrote a huge wall of text, I must be reeeeally hiiigh.
So that no has to look up the genetics to follow along: ECSDH is the clone only ECSD mother, crossed with SSSDH father, which is SSH X ECSD IBL worked by Rezdog. If I recall correctly, the IBL was was a few generations of backcrossing to the ECSD clone, after the initial outcross (don't recall), to keep it as close to the original as possible

I've only had the SSSDH itself twice; and I don't think it was pulled at the right time, or grown particularly well either, so take this with a grain of salt. I loved it. My memory was that it left me feeling like it was like close enough to a 50/50 split between the SSH and ECSD. It had a more motivating and liquid type of energy, and at the same time it felt more dreamy and euphoric, while having less introspection and anxiety. Sorta what you would expect if you were well acquainted with the clone. ECSDH, which is the subsequent backcross to the legendary ECSD clone, steps up those same differences, getting another notch closer to the orignal. The ECSDH dials up the euphoria just a notch, provides slightly more relaxation, and ends in a very pleasant body buzz. My first and only ECSDH plant so far, was over 5 foot, so I expected it to be closer to the clone, but it was still missing that sparkle at the top end. Of course, it was my first go at her, and she was pulled at 10 weeks. I'm pretty stoked with the quality, and effect - it's among the very best looking, smelling, and smoking weeds I've grown from seed to date.

I'm so excited to see what the one I have going now is going to be like. I know you have some love for this line too. They are both great strains. Hard to say which I'll like better, or even a cross between them, but I'm going to love every second of finding out. ;)

Happy Birthday brother. :Namaste:

Yup no words could do that justice.
Damn dude. :high-five:

Thanks for being here to share it with me Dusty. :high-five: I've got a nice set going, I'm am making sure to enjoy it.
Carestaker, those are some of the prettiest buds I've seen! So frosty! :cheer::welldone::bravo:
How high do you keep your lights from your girls?
:high-five:

Thanks Pinks, I managed to keep the girls alive.:high-five: If you look at page one/two I acutally promised to show some ladies in high heath. I've been blessed with the good luck of having them all look good this round. :Namaste:

I've got 2 lights in there - the HPS is about 18" running Ushio HI-Lux 600w HPS and XML DS350 running at 50% or ~160w which is about 16" away. I'm going to write a bit more about this and my temps VS ventilation soon.

What strain is it

778hrd, welcome. :welcome:

We got all Chem based cross running in 5:3 soil/coco mix with 20% perlite and minerals.

CSG - ChemD x Cookies
CSG - East Coast Sour Diesel Haze
Devils Harvest - Strawberry Sour Diesel
Cali Connect - Buddha Tahoe OG

All from seed, between 8-10 weeks veg... I can't believe it was that long.

That is some serious sugar on SSD. :thumb: A fine bunch of ladies you got there CS.

She's pretty covered right? She's got a real strong cat pee smell to her. I've got to tie her up soon, she's leaning holy cow. She might just be fast, but if not, she's going to be pretty chunky. Temps are getting high in the tent, so I'd love to just grow out in the room and shut it off like you did. I've got 72 at the bottom and 84 at the canopy, and the room that the whole thing is in, is being AC'd to 68. For those that grow in tents, I'm not exhausting enough hot air. I think my intake needs a rework, so I'm adding another 8" passive, in the hopes that will cut the backpressure on the fan by half, so it should increase my net CFM by equal measure or more.

I see you're still not putting a foot wrong. 100% dialed in. Such pretty ladies. When I'm in flower I push the girls to the edge of

nute uptake. Seems you might take a different approach?

Thanks man :high-five: Do you mean the tips? :riskybusiness: I usually tip them just before flower, to see where they are at, but I was seeing if I could find a spot just below to see if I could pull it off. I've changed up my feeding style to accomodate for the coco content, so what I'm leaving on the table with lower PPMs, I'm making with feeding every water, feeding more often, and a more constant PPM. So far, so good. :thumb:

What's up CareStaker, looking great sir. :Namaste: I'm loving the move from soil. :thumb:

:love::cco::love: :passitleft:

Man I'm just loving these genetics. The addition of the coco is working pretty well, I agree. The plants are easier to control with nutes and deficiencies and speed/size/yield seems to be ahead of target. The sugar looks to be about the same or better too. I don't think I'll go back to straight soil for a while at least. Time to try a few new things. Great to have you here my friend.

Looking fantastic CareStaker! ECSDH wow! SSD double wow! Are you going to take them into amber territory or are you going for the clear/cloudy? Your grow makes me want to get better. The soil coco mix you're running is really working well. :cheer:

Thanks Doc, I'm so happy to be able to share them with you, and the Fam here. I'm really liking the mix, I've detailed it below. With your passion and skill, you'll be lapping me soon enough. :high-five:

I don't know when I'll pull these, but the SSD should be the first. I'll use smell, look and trichs to determine when to pull, and most of them will probably be under 10% amber. I think I'd like a little more amber on the Tahoe and ChemDookies than the others though, as it might let them develop a fuller terp profile and effect. ECSDH will likely be 5% amber and 20% clear.

My current mix is 5-3-2 soil/coco/perlite, and I'm feeding both organics and synths. Synths are in low enough concentrations to try to keep the organically oriented roots from orienting towards hydro, and to maintain life within the soil. My highest feed so far has been 37% strength on the synths, with added organics, humics, enzymes, mycos, bacteria, carbs etc at every feeding.

Just picked up my first H&G product - Bud XL. Girls got a half dose of that last night. The grow shop also gave a few bags of EWC for free, so I suppose I'll top dress these with it.

Any advice from my organic friends here? I was going to top-dress 1/2" or so, then water it in with just Ca/Mg and molasses...is the timing about right? I'm at day 33. :cheer:

When I top dress with EWC I use 1.5 - 2 cups per pot and work out in to the top 1"of soil using my hands. Definitely can stay giving them some BSM. What would be better is to brew an AACT with it. 4.5 gallons RO H2O, 2 cups EWC, 1/3rd cup BSM. Brew with air pump and air stones for 36 hours. You could also add a little alfalfa meal (1.5 tsp) but it's really just about getting the microbes into the soil. Inoculation half way through flower. You could add the CalMag just before watering. But yeah nows a good time to start giving them some BSM and EWC never hurts plants they seem to love it.

I think I'll have to get my hands dirty, I don't have a pump or stone to aerate it. I should fix that though. :) Thanks Doc! :thanks:

5 gallon bucket with lid.
EcoPlus 3 with 1 to 6 manifold.
6 @ 1" round air stones.
6 @ 5-6' sections of tubing to connect stones to the manifold.

This will brew a killer AACT and is super cheap compared to all the over the counter ones. It will look like a hot tub in the bucket. I used this same setup for over a year. Just soak your stones in H2O2 33%or higher solution in between brews and they'll last forever.

Things are going pretty well, although it was rainy today, and RH went way up. I made sure my fans were on at a speed higher than normal, but I always worry about spores. I'm getting another fan, I usually have three circ fans in there. Anyway - Buds are building, calyx/pistils are still exploding.

Figured I'd get a few random shots of them in the tent...from day 34 and 35 of flower or so.

Below you can see the lower edge of the XML-350 which is at about a 45 degree angle to the plants. ECSDH on the front left, ChemD on the front right, SSD back left, Tahoe back right

IMAG68561.jpg

ChemD isn't going to break any yield records, but they are really stunning in person - if maybe a bit less here in the photos. I got a shot of a lower branch, and then a top to try to show the structure, paleness and sparkle. She is still pushing tons of pure white stimgas/hairs. Smell is warm cherry crayons. Smaller buds but she might swell nicely. She's a hot little number.

IMAG6863.jpg
IMAG6860.jpg

ECSD is super nice. She's got a few spots here and there from Ca defic but they are so minor I didn't even get a shot. I'm surprised that she isn't worse, as she's right under the LED, and she's got a good amount of haze in her. I should push her 1ml/gal to a peak of 7,8,8ml/gal in weeks two, three and four - using Botanicare's version.

Smell is grapeberry with a real down low skunky armpits. She's real sharp. Color is great, this is just the lights.

IMAG68591.jpg

IMAG6849.jpg

Tahoe - She's making long torpedos, and if they swell, she'll weigh in righteously. Super tight nug structure, I couldn't get a good shot of it. The most Chem smelling of the foursome at first. She's still got it, but it's broader and sweeter. It's dorm room dankness, with some sweet and sour pine.

IMAG6855.jpg
IMAG6848.jpg

SSD - The deadly assassin. She should do more than 5, so that will be nice. Looks like some fire too. Smell is there, fast finisher, what's not to like. She's got a very in-your-face blast of piney ammonia, cat pee and berries if that's even possible. She's got some fat colas for day 35, but will be first to finish. She should be done in less than 9weeks, so she's got less than 30 before chop. Will start rolling her off now.

So far, so good. :) I really missed having flowers in the house.

Great update on std. CS beauties. 1st photo in tent made me think of snow covered mtn. peaks. Your descriptions are always so colorful & descriptive. Many CC strains look fantastic except for bulk & weight early on. About the time you figure you've grown some fantastic looking buds but wish the yield was better, they will surprise you with the late weight/bulk gain. :goodjob::circle-of-love:

Man those are beautiful. That SSD looks very promising.

I have her in 2 solos of dirt, just to make sure. This girl is greasy, thick, fast and heavy. Three of my favorite things. :)

She's smelling more berry fruit now, and pine with citrus. The ammonia cat pee smell is almost gone. You'd like this girl. :volcano-smiley:

BEAUTIFUL!!!. Very nice plants my brother. I still can't pick a fave. ;)
been 98%r/h for two weeks now.
my tent just staying at 75 can't get it down.
turn on dehumidifier and nothing but buckets of water.
happy daze bro.

Loving it my friend, thank you :thanks: There's only 4 in there, and I can't pick one either. They all have something different and special that I like. I'm going to keep all the fans on 24/7 till I chop. :) Happy Daze indeed my friend.

Thanks Bright. :high-five: Wish you could see them up close, and give em a squeeze. I'm really pleased with all of them. I don't need a ton, but it would be nice to do better than a pound with the four of them.
I can wait for the swell. I think I really like this Bud XL from H&G btw.

Simply sublime garden my friend, bravo! :)

Thanks Light! They turned out alright ;) I think I might be getting some primo smoke soon! Loving the coco mix too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ferted ECSDH today, and decided to check on pH and PPM of runnoff. PPM was 6.04pH and 1850ppm . Inputs over the last several waterings were between 6.20 ad 6.35, at a max of 950ppm, so I'm feeling that she's spot on. :circle-of-love:I'll water with more runoff next time just to make sure I flush any salts out, but I'm happy with those readings.

Absolutely beautiful CareStaker! I have to be honest, the Tahoe is easily my favorite now. The smell description made me laugh my ass off .

I shall grow nothing but Tahoe OG from this day forward due to this, "It's dorm room dankness" lol.

Please save me a bud. :high-five::bravo:

It's a nostalgic but sour rotten smell that you just can't get enough of. :) I'm going in there right now to get a whiff

Wow, I just came back. She's gone mostly fruit right now, so she's changed again. She's starting to swell, so I wonder if it's related. Tall girl - I was expecting a short indica. :) I'll save you a few Doc. :volcano-smiley:

Man Care everything is humming right along! Those are all some seriously gorgeous ladies. That is a ridiculous amount of frost on SSD :thumb:. ECSDH looks really nice too. I'm still waiting to see how it turns out for you. I know you have said that you have tried it before I just wonder how consistent the high is from one pheno to the next. It would be good to find a seed source of something close to ECSD since finding cuts of it is nearly impossible.

Can't get enough updates of your garden my friend. Stunning. I can smell Tahoe from here :laughtwo:

Thanks bro. They are looking good so I'm not tryin to mess with a thing :) Tahoe has some allure. She's not super frosty, or particularly beautiful, but there's something cool about how much UP she has, she's a big one. ;) She's also got some great nugs, very dense looking, and pale with look like they will be light orange pistils.

Thanks very kindly, Yeti. :thanks: SSD is a beast, gotta love that. Smoke is supposed to be up there too. She's harvest sized right now at 37 days crazy plant.

The ECSD clone is unmistakable, wish I had a cut. It was once common around here, and this was during same time that we rarely ever got any of the west coast goodness. It was a point of pride though, in an underdog kinda way. ;)

I've seen two phenos to the ECSDH so far. This current pheno is a bit more indica in it's habit, and buds, but it's possible that I inadvertently kept her from stretching by the misfire with my timer, and the close node spacing makes her fatter. The first bean I ran was a 5 foot amazon, with pearl cluster buds (bud pic maybe 4 pages back). I felt that the immediately post-dry test buds was more landrace-y sativa in it's effect, than was the ECSD clone. The fresh dried buds had a similar undercurrent of euphoria, but wasn't as encompassing as it should have been. I pulled that one at 73 or so days, and have yet to try her again after the cure. She wasn't grown to potential either. I smelled the jar though and was the dankest smell of the lot. She might need to run a week or two longer, or she might just have been that type of plant. I'm going to try her again this weekend. :) I'm on the search my friend. I'll report back. :Namaste:
