I can def help you out with the Dots- I've grown 5 plants in the SIP with the Dots, and I think I've got them figured out..
Initially, I didn't know the Dots would crap out on apx. day 60, so the first plant I grew with them came out looking pretty rough...
Then, I decided to start her on her "finishing nutes" on day 60...which worked better, but it still allowed some leaf yellowing, and other signs of being hungry before I began the RxBlend nutes..
So, (and this has worked great on the last two plants) 50 days from activating the Dots, I start gradually adding other nutes, so, by day 60, she's living on the "new" nutes, and the Dots don't figure into it anymore.
I add a little calmag whether she's asking for it or not- I want it there when/if she needs it..
I also use HP ProMix, so I haven't pH'd anything for 5 years or so..the ProMix also wicks the water perfectly in the SIP...
You wouldn't think there'd be much difference in how soils wick water, but the locally made soil I bought for my outdoor SIP didn't wick worth a shit...
This grow, I'm going to try the extended version of the Grow Dots- the Standard ones are (allegedly)
good for 6 weeks veg/10 weeks bloom, the Extended are(once again, allegedly) good for 10 weeks veg/10 weeks bloom- I may wait till day 60 to start the other nutes with these, but I'm sure I'm going to need them, just maybe not quite as soon...
The Standard ones are 16-8-11, Extended are 16-8-10, so there's not much difference in the nutrients, they must just release more slowly into the soil, or the Dots are bigger,or something like that..
Good Luck with the Dots!
The not having to feed your
plants for the first 50 days makes them worth using
