hi canuckgal hows you, the 24 hours of dark is not needed, its meant to make them flower sooner but its not proven as far as im aware, so you can just flip 12-12 from anylighting schedule, even 24-0 so its ok to flip the timer to 12-12 without any dark period, the only advantage i can see about this dark period is to get the plant to grow more agresive during that 24 hour dark period, i noticed this when i had a power cut and the lights where off for 20 odd hours, and clearly when the power came back the plants had grown more in them 20 odd hours than they had all week, i think this can only be done as a one off and not a weekly routine so to speak, so you can give them 24 hours if you like and when you flip the lights back on you will notice how much they have grown,
if you use glr for veg then the plants are all ready in rapid growth then when you flip the lights to 12-12 they dont stretch as much as they are ready to flower as they are, so you dont have the massive the stretch like you do with other schedules, so this would be good for satvia dominant strains,
