I agree w/ pretty much everything you've posted lately here (your advice and comments truly seem profound & spot on) so I see no need to argue what "flushing" is although most people refer to flushing as thoroughly drenching with water only at at least 2 times the pot volume when growing in soil or soil less mediums (which she is)...yourself included it seems "flush it with three times the water of the pot size" from post #1778, by you. I imagine in a hydro setting that last post's comment holds more true; and, heck, might be truly more accurate. But its not what most people, right or wrong, consider "flushing."

I used to pop in a Deep Purple cd when I was traveling through downtown Chicago to keep me calm and level headed. LOL
Takes me back to some good times though....wish I could have seen them live in their prime time.

My older sister saw them in the 70's and that and the fact that Rainbow was like the hottest band in Europe at the time is why I went to the concert...pretty much what I did darn near full time back then, lol. Gotta admit though, other than a few songs, was never a giant Deep Purple (or Rainbow either for that matter) fan; though they did put on a heck of a show. Honestly though, Pat Travers was the real surprise. Don't think I'd ever even noticed his music 'till then and MAN did he rock the house!

That depends on which "people" you are listening to. These references are coming from Cervantes......and even he interchanges two or three times the amount of water for a nutrient flush. I try to keep it real, and use common terms and references. There is a lot of gray area with stoners growing weed....not so much in commercial greenhouses.....where millions of dollars are at stake...in these environments it's "critical" that we all stay on the same page. I study a lot....probly six hours a day for the last two years...strictly the cannabis. Add that to two years formal horticultural training and my experience with agricultural crops and ornamentals.....opinions are the only erroneous info coming down! There are many ways to do things, I look at them all, pick the ones to use that make sense. I'm old school and my teachers didn't mince words or opinions....they did what worked the best, and that's what I try to relay in my advice. I do cannabis consultations...that's where I come to your grow, look it over, and give my recommendations. I've done this not only for cannabis, but for agriculture and horticulture. I was paid well to do it out of college...while I was STILL in college, and do it mostly pro bono now, but the people I advise can help me get anything that I may have trouble getting myself for any variety of reasons. Hey canna, you can also try putting different colored paper backgrounds behind the trichs and looking at them, it will sometimes give a different perspective....especially on the degree of cloudiness! You are almost there and I would be proud to have grown that plant in the picture....

Ya heady, I find that I gravitate more toward Cervantes than Rosenthal.....just my training, and he is friends with some of my friends and frequents areas in cali that I frequent. I haven't run into him yet, but I would like to chew the fat with him for a season. There was big talk last summer at the farm I worked at..........they had a stellar year and all the farmers were in awe at what went on there this season. I always pay attention to who's coming around there...and have met several "celebrities".....mostly at the international parties they hold there. I've met growers literally from around the world at those multi day parties!

Cervantes' videos is my most use of you tube the last two months. LOL
I guess the important thing is that because of the posts here on the topic I understand what I need to do, and will start this week. Thanks to all of you for the advice and the comments!
Hey Mac, NOW I remember why I had that black piece of cardboard on my work table!! Thanks! I've seen other threads here where people have used that method and I put that cardboard just for that. LOL

My friendly growstore owner told me about the different color paper...LOL....the only other thing they told me that I followed killed an entire grow of mine....like 12 plants~The only plants that I've ever killed...not willingly...LOL

Some great info here! I used the slow flush method, and the smoke produced burns smooth, almost no harshness even without a full cure yet. If you put the same amount of just water through the medium it is the same thing, just over a longer period of time...and without soaking your soil and possibly starving your girls of 02 temporarily while the medium dries back out.

I too found that the color of the background I used made a difference on what appeared to be trich color. With a solid black background they looked cloudy before they really were. White seemed to work best, with little or no ambient lighting.

I would not worry about the purpling plant at this stage either. Looking lovely Canna! :circle-of-love:

your plant with the purpling leaves appears to be normal for a purple plant. General Hydroponics Flora series nutrients only require a 7 day flush before harvest. I would wait until you see amber trichomes to begin your harvest flush.

Just to be sure there is no confusion, when I said "Deep Purple" that was just a tag name for the coloring. It is a White Widow plant.
Thought I better be sure to clarify that. :cheesygrinsmiley:

The tricombs might not be amber they can be purple. Ive seen purple oil, and "Cheetos" orange peanut butter hash. such an amazing plant.

Hey Canna, I agree with the consensus here, but I will tell you that appears to a K def to to me. I've had those purple leaves before, and some molasses every other watering fixed the issue. As I said, I agree that you should flush, just giving you some info for future reference.

your White Widow plant most likely has a deficiency then, I have grown White Widow and never had purple on its leaves.

Out of 48 plants of all different varieties........outdoors.......every one was purpling at harvest..........I have purple plants that don't purple and some white strains that do. I won't become confused though...........A PLANT THAT IS PROPERLY FINISHED SHOULD BE DEFICIENT IN JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING>>>end of my comments on this subject...we beat this dog to death!!!!

Couple of things I'm going to do here when I put the clones in to flower:
New PH tester, on the last two feedings my PH tester was going haywire, even after calibrating it.(IF there was a deficiency toward the last couple weeks, that is probably the culprit) Nothing more need be said on that, I will be sure it doesn't happen on the next one. I want to be absolutely sure that PH is correct through the flowering from start to finish.

Then I'm going to dive into brewing up some teas. That will be something new for me.

I need to get some clones off the plants that are vegging this weekend too.

And my LED lights will be here by then, so that will be new too. I"m going to put them on just two plants, next to the HPS and see what the difference in growth will be. I'll always have the CFL's/HPS as back up for flowering and the LED's for vegging if I find that's the way to go. These LED's are not top quality high dollar ticket items. If they do just fine in vegging, then I'm still happy because I'm saving on the electric bill. We'll see. LOL

AND, by then I should be ready to germ some homemade beans!

Tinker tinker tinker....kind of like an old Harley, always something new to do. LOL (My Dad had 5 of them at one time and spent countless hours tinkering. He thoroughly enjoyed it!)

You're a class act Canna; I like how you post...almost always helpful, ALWAYS positive, never aggressive and DEFINATELY never a jerk when expressing what's on your mind. The LEDs should be an adventure and I look forward to where it lands down the road.
