Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg & More! CFL's - LED - HPS

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

You all are sweethearts!
I've been cleaning off the SD card to make space for pics today. Here are a couple from the 18th. This would be trichomes update from Day 61 of flowering:

What a beautiful site to start the day to! Reps to you!

I am in no way a guru. I am sorry for my response.

I take my pots when finished and dump into trash cans and I moisten a little bit if the pots were dry.

I will add a good amount of worm castings like 10-15 pounds and let break down for a couple weeks. after that I will add my dry amendments which changes every time based on what I was seeing in the plants.

I am going to be tapping into a fresh batch soon new recipe.

there is only organic amendments in the soil.

I use ro water always with ca/mg every time. and liquid karma every other watering.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

I read all the responses and do what works best here for my grow. I learned a lot on both answers! Thanks to both of you, shottafire and Jamthe3. When I get the funds, I'm going to go the Doc Buds Hi-Brix (sorry if I spelled that wrong) way. Until I can swing that, I have to use what I have...and if it can be feasibly re-used....well you know me...I'll do it. LOL
Right now I'm just going to concentrate on the flush and harvest.
So how about some trichome pics to make for good smiles?

Here's my trichome alligator:

No need to be sorry at all, you answered what I was curious about to an extent and this post only further enhanced that answer. I'm grateful for the response and if you and Canna don't mind, I'd like to ask a quick two more questions I've been wondering for a while about. With all organics is it true you don't have to flush as intensely prior to harvest and w/the hi-brix, once the soils prepared do you mostly just use plain water for the rest of the grow?

Okay next pics, where the trichs have the light behind them they look clear, but with the leaf color behind them they look kind of cloudy:

And this one is just cuz I thought it was purty.

You take nice pictures, I wish I had a camera. Only thing I've got is the stupid cell phone and it only will load to my computer through blue tooth or something like that...anyhoots, I can't figure it out.

Hey Jam, :thanks:
do you have a jewelers loupe or small magnifier? Rubber band the loupe around your cell phone with the loupe over the camera lens on the phone. Then use your phone's camera settings to zoom in as much as you need to get the subject in focus. My loupe has a little led light on it too. Works like a charm.

Also, what I do is email the photos from my cell phone to my gmail account. Then I download to the laptop to edit the photos and send them to where I need them to go.
Hope this helps!

first I was drooling, now I am foaming at the mouth! LOL! I could stare at those trics for hours!:thumb:
You and I both Pinky, I think it's just an amazing process.

Oh man!!! My heart is soooo green :green_heart::green_heart::green_heart::green_heart: Awesome space and amazing organization...:thumb:
Thanks Dennise, I do love my space and my property. Cuz I have space on the property too, like you do! Country all the way.:green_heart:

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Hi Canna. Just wanted to add my 2 cents on your question.

I wouldnt use soft water cuz it is ran thru salt and salts are not good for plants which is why soil needs to be flushed out sometimes when using chemical nutes, due to build up. This is also why you would need to really flush the shit out of your soil BEFORE you can reuse it. You want all the salts out of it from your nutes so it doesnt cause issues in your next round of plants. With that being said I dont think amending your soil with anything will do much for you since it isnt organic soil. Maybe some Perlite to help with drainage and aeration since some of your soil will have broken down into finer particles.

Now as far as flushing goes theres 2 different uses of the word here. Flushing soil is what you do when things are jacked and you need to flush nutes/salts from your soil and start fresh. That is when you do 2 or 3 times the amount of water to soil. Thats not what youre doing here. You are doing a pre harvest flush to let the plant finish off the nutes that are in the soil rather than washing your money spent on those nutes down the drain. You just need to feed them plain water same as you would feed nutes. I would also PH it to keep things in check so the plants can clean all the nutes out rather than have lockouts from PH.

When I grew in Hempys with the same nutes you use I would feed plain water for the last 2 weeks which was 3 or 4 feedings depending on temps/humidity and my leaves were always still green at harvest so Id say maybe go 3 weeks even with plain water.

Thank you Cas,
I'm probably going to just do the plain water for a few feeds as has been described. One main reason for that is my grow design did not account for flushing plants with the 2-3 size of the pot amounts of water. There is no place for it to drain at the moment. One of those things I didn't think about early on in the set up. I'll be drilling some holes in the "floor" of the grow area and a couple of other minor adjustments before I put the clones in to flower. The time it's going to take for the next round of clones to finish flowering, maybe I can get some new soil too. Then there will be no question on the salt build up etc. After thinking a while today, I had very few problems with this grow using the soil I had, I want the next one to go smoothly too. LOL
So, I better get out find a working PH meter today. This one has gone to the dogs.
Thanks everyone, I am now clear on what the different kinds of flush means!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Actually, you're flushing the soil, not the plant. The idea is to get rid of the nutes so they're not being uptook by the plant anymore. With that said, I wouldn't do squat to the water other than let it sit a bit to release any chlorine and such that's in it. The minerals (metals) shouldn't pose any real problem and if you're flushing flushing (lol,) even ph'ing shouldn't matter much. That should purge the soil of the nutrients so they're not still in the cured end product that some find unpleasant when consuming. Just my two cents worth a penny at most.

Soil should be depleted by now..........

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

instead of spending 100 bucks on a good PH pen you could build a nice organic soil to cook til you need it. Then you wont have to worry about PH or salts :cheesygrinsmiley:
That will be down the road for sure. I sure as heck can't afford to spend that much on a PH pen! LOL

There is some misunderstandings with organics around the web and I will start by explaining what I know from experience which is limited to my two years of serious growing and a few not so serious years growing inorganically.

The style I use is an amended soil cooked. With the additions of gen organics ca/mg, liquid karma, and teas.

I always flush the last ten days sometimes fourteen. but my flush is for an organic soil. So the flush is basically enough water to saturate and have a bit of runoff but not a ton. Usually about three waterings and then let soil dry a bit and chop.

I use plain water every three or four waterings throughout the grow as well. Keep things in check this way. I have no ph meter and will never have one as long as I am in soil.

Im running a high brix kit as well and that is a little different incorporating foliar feeds and all that. It is easier than the supersoil and the plants are amazing.

If you want check it out in my signature. Its still in veg

My organic mess is the other link in my sig. (almost time to chop too)

Dont know if i am even making sense right now. super meddied out this am.

Thanks for this! I've actually been following your hi-brix thread and will try to find the time to read the other one also now.

Excellent distinction that you're talking "organic flush"............oh, it makes a lot of sense....it's up to us to listen and pay attention....LOL...I get so saturated with these ideas that they always bring more questions than answers....the more I learn....the more I realize I don't know!
