Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg & More! CFL's - LED - HPS

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Looks perfect!

How's the Herb IQ?

Hey Techman, not sure what happened. I replied to this, but maybe I did it on your journal. LOL
The program is going okay now, I've had to work out some kinks that were user issues..... Me being an idiot apparently.
I agree that it would be nice if there was a help file, or help feature online. Doing it by trial and error got the best of me last weekend. But now I seem to be rolling right along with it.

Hi my friend. I am glad to hear the clones are fighting the good fight. I have a feeling I am going to be shedding some tears when/if I harvest. I am glad I have a couple little ones to focus on. Right now they are benefiting from being left alone by me . Just soil, very little water, and they seem happy :) Once I have nobody else to fuss over, they might be in trouble!

I would like to give you the honor of Naming my P4/Pynconning Parylizer strain since you have been so kind and encouraging to me.

:thanks:

The "P P girl"....ROFL. Seriously though, I will give that some thought. And thanks, haven't named a baby in ages and the only one I did was a boy. :cheesygrinsmiley:

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

So ....I'm going to go through "empty nest....er ...empty cannabis syndrome??"

LOL, the way that I combat the syndrome is to have the next round in the room the day after I chop, clean the room and BAM, around 60 days til I do it again. To have a perpetual grow that gives you a harvest every 60 days approx., is to start the next round while the round in the flower room is approx. 3 weeks to a month at flowering light schedule. I have a t5 ho light that I veg under, and another light if I decide to keep mothers...which I hate to do. You plan on your veg plants to be as big as you want them when the flowering plants finish...or real close. I am way out of sorts if I don't hear the fans running 24/7..........I'm super excited for you on your new conquest....there is only one first time.......immerse yourself in the grow and know it for what it is....just lovely!

Enjoying every minute of it Mcloadie, even the frustrating times. LOL I have perpetual in mind down the road, so thanks for the tips on that!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Thought I would post an update on the clones, I'll post some pics over the weekend.
All but two of the clones have rooted in the rockwool. One of them is of the 3 I started over on with cutting the end piece off and resplitting the end of the remaining stem, so that experiment worked. I didn't put it into any more cloning gel when I did that either.
The three clones that are in soil are doing okay. Two of them had some yellow leaves at the very top for awhile but they seem to be recovering. One of the three is growing like a weed. (pun intended of course) Hopefully not the confirmed male. LOL I'll have to look at the identifier numbers and check for sure tomorrow.
I placed them under a two bulb fluorescent light fixture and they seem to be okay with that for now. I am smack out of CFL bulbs right now, so it will have to do until I can pick up some more. I will be getting some rapid rooters too, hopefully. The rockwool took way too long for my liking.
Pics tomorrow, promise.

If you decide that you need one you can make an efficient aerocloner, they're not awfully expensive and they are very efficient at 100% success every time. If you'd like I can go into some sexing techniques that will allow you to avoid feeding male plants....unless you need a male for education or breeding purposes. You want to talk frustrating?, I had six plants last run that started dying slowly the day they went into the flower room. All the kings horses and all the kings men together could not find a solution to my issues........we, and I mean all of us who participated could NOT figure it out. I will blame it on midnite....LOL......my current run is looking just like I expect, but actually a little light I think. I will whack these in less than two weeks......maybe they will surprise me! A clone in soil should take right around 14 days to be ready for transplant....that is an acceptable timetable.

Well now....I'll be downright greedy and say I would love information on the aerocloner AND the sexing techniques. Can I pick two doors Bob?:laughtwo:
No rush on that order, but it sounds awfully interesting when you have the time. :thanks:
I have learned a little on sexing plants early on, but I'm always open to easier ways!!

Probably won't be around any more tonight. I'm whooped from work today and retiring to a nice relaxing place for the night.
Have a good one all!

And Rainstacks....thought you would be interested, I'm watching my home surveillance system and there's a spider building a web on one of the cameras outside. the spider is glowing in the infrared like moonlight. It's an awesome thing to watch!

Soon, I'm beat right now.....the other members will jump in too and fill in the blanks......just basic stuff that will be helpful to you.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

i built this same aero cloner i have yet to use because i didnt have any female plants to take cuttings from but it works very well, if you build it i would suggest get a timer where you can have it on and also have it off having it on 24/7 probably isnt bad but having the pump run that long will most likely heat up the water

DIY 50 site aero cloner for under $100.00

also when i built mine it was under $50 because i bought a smaller pump but it works out great

Hey frosty, and good weed to everyone!:circle-of-love:My diy aerocloner works great, as I'm sure they all do if you get the emitters to hit all the cutting stems. I want to make comment on the heat factor...the pump heating the water in the res.. I have my best luck when the res is at 85 degrees F. I used it extensively in the spring....getting everyone going...LOL....and the temps rose as the ambient temps rose....combined with the fact of the heat from the pump. I live with my plants and monitor everything very closely....at least til I'm confident that I'll get the desired results and that the factors won't fluctuate beyond what I predict. A coupla things tat I've found when cloning with the aerocloner; first; I don't trip on the process anymore, and my college experience has led me to my methods. I don't use any razor blades to cut the stems, I did thousands of cuttings in greenhouses, and we never used a blade. I just angle the cut with my scissors, put em in the pucks with 1" of stem exposed to the emitters. Another thing I do is to put liquid rooting hormone in the res., like a teaspoon to 10 gallons of water. I don't wait til the cuttings have long dangly roots, if I do that I end up breaking some of them off when doing soil applications, I prefer the roots at approx. a quarter inch long. My cloner gets the job done in ten to twelve days, I always take em all at the same time....some a little more rooted than others.........I've never lost a single clone, but I have aborted an entire load...18....when I took cuts from a slightly chlorotic plant........there was a rumor that this was the optimal way to proceed...not in my case! All this info is the benefit of mcloadies limited experience...it is what I've found in my world...nothing more!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Thank you Frosty and Mcloadie!
I have looked and looked for those instructions and couldn't find it. I've seen threads where people had them, but couldn't find the one with the materials list. I've added it to my blog so I know exactly where it is now!
I have most of the materials already here, I'm thinking I will go ahead and build it this weekend. Not sure I need a 50 hole one, so I may reduce the size a bit. I have an extra timer too, just in case I may need it.

Mcloadie, I like the tip about cutting the stem at an angle instead of splitting the stem. I'll try that. I don't have any liquid hormone rooter, but I have some gel and some powder. I wonder if a little powder mixed with some water would suffice? Never know till ya try, eh?
You sell yourself short saying "limited experience", Mcloadie....you've got that MOTM under your name. You didn't get that being "limited" in your knowledge and proven application. ;)
Thanks everyone, I'm gonna DIY some stuff!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Hey canna, thanks, but study only reveals to me the shortcomings of my knowledge. I agree, a guy actually needs two aerocloners. a big one, and a little one. Mine actually converts to a bucket cloner that will do six at a time. At some point this winter, I'm going to put my aerocloner to the test, it was designed to be an all in one package; you make clones with it, then reconfigure it into an aeroponics growing system. It all fits in one tote, designed for hobbie grows. I wanted a one package deal.......lights, nutes, pumps, manifold...the works. I have yet to do a grow in it because I haven't been able to address the res heat issues with a method or device that will fit in the tote!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Okay, I'm a gal who sticks to her word. I got all of my materials together to make the aero cloner....I gathered what I had ATH (shortcut for Around The House with me. LOL) and set off to work.
Now, because I am so well known for winding up with a dramatic plan change while doing a project, what do you suppose I wound up with??
...................
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
.............................................
A bubble cloner! Bubble cloner, hydro cloner...whatever you prefer to call it. I decided the aero method where the water is shooting out of the tubing and pvc just was NOT working with what I had available and it was starting to make me cuss a bit because of the smaller scale I chose to do.
This works out perfect, I can clone up to 8 in this.
BubbleCloner1.jpg

BubbleCloner2.jpg

What I used: one 3 gallon bucket that actually has a screw on locking lid. I drilled out a section in the side of the top ring to put the hoses down into so the lid would go all the way on and lock.
Two large airstones, one double line aquarium air pump and of course some aquarium tubing. I set the airstones up on a container inside to get them higher to the top.
I tested the unit by placing a piece of paper toweling over the top and let it run a few minutes to make sure each hole was getting wet.
TestClonerbubbles.jpg

Done!
Now I just want to mention that the rooting in plain ol' water in a glass worked. We had a conversation about that here a while back.
My Sweet basil that you see in the cloner has roots about 1/2" long. But I'm hoping the cloner bucket will help to root other things faster.
If I accomplish nothing else today, I will feel the day was well spent because I finally have this done and in my grow room!
I would not have done it without all of you nudging and giving your input. :thanks:

Edit: adding a picture so I can blog just the one post for future reference. This is a pic of the underside after the cloner had been running a while.
I realize I have to make those stems longer for future rooting on the cannabis clones, these are just the two I've been working with for the last couple of weeks and the stems are short from retrying. We'll see if they come around now.

Badda Bing Badda Boom. You made short work of the cloner project. Very impressive!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Hey Mcloadie, there are two things I was thinking when dealing with temps of the water in reservoirs. I originally had started my grow to do hydro, and of course as I am known to do...I changed the plan. LOL
They make cooler packs that you freeze and then use for putting into coolers to keep things cold. Some of them are very small, but I have made my own by using zip freezer bags and doubling them up, putting them into a square shaped container, then freezing them. You can drop one of these in the reservoir to help cool down the temp. And they are reusable.

If the reservoir stays too cold, they have these cool units that are used to keep barn fowl and pet water dishes/trays from freezing. It's a metal coil that is put at the bottom of the water container and plugs in. Puts out just enough heat to keep the water from freezing and they are small enough to fit into a plastic tub like people are using for hydro. They can be put on their own little timer to come on once or twice a day as needed.
Just some thoughts. If they help, great...if not...well that's okay too.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Okay, it's sing-a-long time...everybody now..:tommy::party: "I've been working in the growwww room ....all the live long day..."

Hmmmm....someone is really off key.

So, it was suggested to me on another thread to lower my lighting on the scrog area. I did. It was about 9" away from the plants, I am within 5-6" from the plants now. I will see what happens overnight, I don't want to burn those tips! The fans are doing well, so it should be "otay".
Also, here's a pic of the planted clones I promised in addition to a close up pic of the tips of the leaves on one of them:
Clones_update.jpg
Clone_Leaf_Tips.jpg

And I got all the rest of my clones into the cloner to root. Yesterday....yes believe or not...yesterday morning, I fiddled again with those clones that hadn't rooted yet and split the stems with my fingernail again. I was getting frustrated as heck with them and was ready to toss and start over. They all were showing small roots today! GO figure. LOL So, they are in the cloner to get long-n-strong now.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Now, because I am one to admit my mistakes and learn from them......
I made a boo-boo when I put the plants under the screen. I had a list of the plants that were female, male and two "unknown".
I THOUGHT I had put all the confirmed girls under the screen. I actually wound up with one that hadn't shown sex yet.
I am hoping like heck that I can see signs of sex here in the next day or so, I'm going to be scoping it tonight on every node I can find.
There is one female plant left over in the veggie area, so not sure what to do there.
I'm thinking tomorrow to just swap them out, but if the plant under the screen turns out female and I can confirm it, I'm going to make room for both while I can still move those plants around under that screen. That would be 6 female plants, and still one unconfirmed.
Wish me luck. ;-)
