Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg & More! CFL's - LED - HPS

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Gotcha covered Jay. Was actually starting to run some line tonight. I was going to do that before I placed the screen but I thought I would have a hell of a time trying to set it over the plants that way because they had so much growth. I started to use wire, you can see it in the first picture, but that was a PAIN. I was really afraid I would break a main stem, but thank goodness that didn't happen. :thanks: work work work....but I love it. :-)

Nice Canna...yeah I could buy smaller screen online but 6 inch is all my local hydro shop carries...I enjoy getting really stoned and weaving the string...takes me way longer when I'm stoned...but it makes me feel like a rastafarian Betty Ford :)

The 4"-6" netting works out great for me as long as you string it tight. I am in a larger space and having that tight of squares would really hinder the plants upward growth and it would get too suffocated around the screen. I like some of the tight scrogs I have seen in the tents or smaller spaces but I really think on a grander scheme the tighter the squares the easier it is for problems to take hold.

go to one of them cheap stores that sell them football goals, you know the small ones that you can get that are blow up or held up by cheap plastic, not very big and cost next to nothing to buy, you could just use the net that comes with them,

Okay, I'm a little confused on Perlite vs. Vermiculite. I was told that perlite retains moisture (holds water), so I added more to my soil mix to help retain moisture between watering. I understand it is good for drainage because it is full of crevices etc., but doesn't it retain moisture too?
And does vermiculite retain or hold water better than perlite?
I actually posted on another thread to use perlite to help hold moisture and was promptly corrected. LOL Oops...

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Perlite adds structure to a soil allowing more oxygen to the roots and it reduces your chances of overwatering. Vermiculite will hold more water than perlite if you take a cup of perlite and a cup of vermiculite and poured water in each cup the vermiculite will absorb most of the water while the perlite will leave standing water still.

I prefer there be more aeration than more water retention indoors. The more times you can water per week the better imo. not too much but definitely more than once a week.

Thanks Shottafire, I"m clear on that now. I had added extra vermiculite to my soil too. I guess I got the two confused on their main functions.
:thanks:

Here's a little update on the tucking and I've started the string squares. The last two pics are two of the girls in their "under" wear. LOL

I just got to see one page so far canna, I'll catch up as time passes. Everything looks real good, and I see you are keeping good company. I'm excited for your first grow..........I was on cloud nine with my first.......I've been growing just over a year now. I certainly wish that my life circumstances would have allowed me to start sooner.....the therapeutic value of the process is immense!

I mentor new growers, and advise other growers at times. I am always excited when the new ones start out....I see the enthusiasm in their eyes....and in their lives. I'm working with a first timer right now....and I swear this is a different person than I originally met! It's such a lovely thing.....because their family, and everyone they come into contact with will be affected by this new vigour..........a positive result from a simple decision to just try........newsflash....once you try......you're hooked. Prepare yourself for separation anxiety when you harvest....there will be a big hole in your life....til the next run fills in the hole!

lol, It was very hard to chop that first one. I still feel bad every time I do it. But then I think of the reward in another month and chop chop chop!

Thought I would post an update on the clones, I'll post some pics over the weekend.
All but two of the clones have rooted in the rockwool. One of them is of the 3 I started over on with cutting the end piece off and resplitting the end of the remaining stem, so that experiment worked. I didn't put it into any more cloning gel when I did that either.
The three clones that are in soil are doing okay. Two of them had some yellow leaves at the very top for awhile but they seem to be recovering. One of the three is growing like a weed. (pun intended of course) Hopefully not the confirmed male. LOL I'll have to look at the identifier numbers and check for sure tomorrow.
I placed them under a two bulb fluorescent light fixture and they seem to be okay with that for now. I am smack out of CFL bulbs right now, so it will have to do until I can pick up some more. I will be getting some rapid rooters too, hopefully. The rockwool took way too long for my liking.
Pics tomorrow, promise.
