Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg & More! CFL's - LED - HPS

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Hey Canna...great set up...did you just put them in 12/12?...if so, I would raise the screen...if its been a couple weeks, looks perfect
Hi Jay,
no they are still on 18/6. I've been wondering when to go to 12/12, but I think I'll give them a few days. Not sure why I would need to raise the screen? Can you expound on that? I'm so new at this....LOL

I have found its best let them grow into the screen and then tuck the branches to fill it out ....they will stretch a lot when you switch to 12/12...raising the screen will allow you to manipulate your branches more to gain more bud sites...it will also help control your height better which I think you mentioned was a concern

everything looks great...nice work:thumb:

Okay, that's what I thought you were referring to. I can't really lift the screen right now, but I know I should have put them under the screen a lot sooner than this. I'll know better next time. When I get this first grow down...there will be lots of lessons learned in my school books.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Nice work, Canna! I don't think there is a problem with the screen level. You need to be able to water all around the plant, and clean out underneath if necessary. It shouldn't be hard in your case because the girls are lined up single file. With two rows of plants the watering and cleaning out becomes more of an issue.

As Jay says, start tucking the tops under the screen. You are going to grow sideways instead of up for a while. Let the tops grow up for a few days and then tuck them down under the screen. The top will grow up vertically through the next hole in the grid. Nodes lower down on the stem will also grow up into the screen. You'll end up with something like this:

I'm on the 7th day of 12/12 and still doing some minor tucking, but the screen is pretty full. Each one of those tops is going to become a cola. The colas will not be light-blocked by leaves above them. I should end up with a low sea of buds.

Check out Dutch Dragons plant of the month winner. It is one of the finer examples I've seen.

Nice design and great re-use of products. If you think your lights can handle it, give them time to fill in the screen weaving in/out as they grow all the way to the edges. The longer you veg the better off you will be when you flowering. Other than that, A big Thumbs Up!

Thanks PeeJay! I did some tucking when I put them in there, but I was pulling them back up through the next square. I'll go through tomorrow and start doing as you described above. You guys are great!!:surf:
Oh, and Peejay..did you remove the large lower fan leaves when you started tucking? I'm sure the plants need them, but wasn't sure how long. There are some very large fan leaves toward the bottoms that aren't going to get much light. Whaddya think?

IMO if you are just about to switch to 12/12 you put the screen up at the perfect time...I usually set up my screen one week after I put the girls under 12/12

I am impressed...your doing great

Canna, what I do is pull the large fan leaves under the screen. Sometimes I crush the stem to help 'em stay put. On the plant I pictured I've maybe removed half a dozen fan leaves. The fans are factories. I leave as many as possible. If they turned yellow or whatnot I would remove them. So far that hasn't been an issue.

If you look at the side shot you can see all the big fans are below the screen.

Will do Techman, and thank you!

That's what I do. Of course, I'm a noob and may be doing it wrong....
I've seen others do exactly what you described...so I say "If it works, leave it the heck alone!":biglaugh:

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

CVS and Walgreens have them in the tobacco section behind the registers. Training and quickie cleaning of the one hitter, win win!

Good luck.
I found them at Walgreens exactly where you said! :thanks:

Journal Note: Water PH
I am going to drop the PH of the water down to around 6.9. It's been in the 7's and I just reread KJC's post about keeping it below 7. This could be contributing to the yellowing leaves maybe?
Any thoughts on this guys/gals?

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

The pH scale is logarithmic. In other words, a pH of 6 means there are ten times more hydrogen ions than a pH of 7. In turn, a pH of five is ten times more acidic than a pH of 6, and 100 times more acidic than a pH of 7. The difference between 6.9 and seven is really small. You may want to lower it a bit because cannabis likes a slightly acid environment.

You will almost certainly have trouble making a point one adjustment to the pH from 7 to 6.9 without using lab equipment and titrating it. Shoot for anything between 6.3 and 6.9 if you are going to adjust the pH, and have faith that the micro herd in the soil will sort things out. It is what they do!

Just my two cents.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

I like your two cents, made it into a dollar here. My PH has been around 7.5, so I'll shoot for between 6.5 and under 7.
Great explanation. Thanks again!

Wow Canna, that is looking amazing! I missed a lot in a short time! I love the little mutt, I am glad you let her live :)

I don't think the ph being at 7 is an issue, since the soil has elements which naturally buffer things. I have heard of people testing runoff, but it sounds like a pain to catch it. On that note, be sure that water does not 'sit' in the trays, that is the only detail I would worry about. Everything is looking phenomenal. If there was an award for Rookie of the year, I would nominate you for sure :) I can't wait to see how things develop! +reps for such great work.

Thanks Rain! If I could nominate me, I would too. Cuz' I'm about as rookie as you get....but I can read, so that's a big plus. :geek::reading420magazine::laugh:

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Okay, this morning I did raise the screen a little. Took some doing, but I managed it without breaking anything. LOL This should make it much easier to get the plants trained to grow across and spread out. Tonight I'm going to raise the lights a little, it's amazing how warm it got in that flower area when the curtains with the mylar were close. Temp went from 68 to 80 in less than an hour. I don't want to burn them and I want them to get used to the heat difference slowly, so I left one of the curtains open.
I'm so excited to be in the scrog stage finally!:cheertwo:
