Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg & More! CFL's - LED - HPS

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

You are doing a transplant though right? So if they get put in new soil, they will have more nutrients available as well. Any ideas for a choice of soil?
Excellent point Rain, If I do the transplant I will probably just fill in with the soil I have around what the plant is in? If that makes sense. I'll have to see how much additional soil I will be using and determine if I will need any nutrients for a couple of weeks after the transplant.
I'm wondering if I need to transplant at all, but I don't want a root bound issue to happen too late and would like to see maximum yield on the first grow...of course.
I'm pretty sure that one of these plants is Male, some early signs. Over the weekend I will determine that for sure and see what the roots look like on that puppy.
Whaddya 'tink?

All Hail to the digital camera age!!!:adore:
I really wanted to get a picture of these plants close up and personal. Digital camera alone wouldn't do it. So I took this fancy schmancy new fandangled 40x led lit loupe of mine, put in front of the camera lens and zoomed the camera to full zoom and set it to macro. With ever so steady hands and several attempts, by gosh I got it!
Here's some pics, please verify (or unverify if need be LOL) that these are pistils I'm seeing:

And, here's some pics of a plant I believe to be a male. These little seed looking doobers are growing out of the plant at an angle and are not seated directly into the v of the stem/leaf. They look totally different than anything on the other plants. But, as new as I am....I could certainly be wrong!
Whatcha' think?

I kept losing the darned area where I saw pistils, so I finally decided to look into the heaviest activity area on the plants and there they were. Now I have a string tied on the area so I can find it again. LOL

One more thing, I saw on a thread from way way back in 2009 someone used a small meat thermometer in their soil to check temp. I have one, and it worked. Soil temp is around 68 degrees. I've been wondering on that. :)

First three look like pistols. :) althought Ive only seen them pop in pairs. But you could have caught like the exact moment they poped and the other hasnt came out to play yet.

Im not a big fan ofthe last two pics... :bitingnails:

But thats opinion from a noob hack so make sure others chime in first!

Thanks Spimp, and I value your opinion. I don't know what to think of those last two pics either, but someone is sure to recognize what they are. I just couldn't steady that camera enough to get a good clean shot.:)

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

I had an auto that had a single 'ball'. I plucked it off and never saw another one. Just be careful so if there is pollen it doesnt burst open. :)

Hey, I'll wait on a couple more opinions on what they are, and if in agreement they are "balls" I'll rip 'em.....er ....well snip them.:biglaugh:

Looking good Girl! Except for that possible male. Your analysis of every detail still keeps me in awe. Do you grow houseplants?

Hey Techman!:byebye:
Good to see you around. :-) I've never, ever been said to be too analytic....well maybe a few times. LOL
No, I don't grow houseplants. I've never even been able to grow veggies outside without the darned bugs or critters or watering issues destroying them.
But I do seem to have good luck with herbs, most of them. I think it's because I use them so much in cooking that I pay a lot more attention to how they are growing than any other plants I've tried.
I started reading up on how to grow cannabis, and when I joined this site I got serious on it. That's when all "H" broke loose and I committed to it. LOL
I'll pop over to your thread this weekend and see how your work is going too!

I have a couple of these laying around, I will have to check them out and put then in a couple of plants to keep an eye on that kind of thing.

Not sure about the Pistil thing however that does look like one. Females do grow those kinds of things too, might be a new node for a branch perhaps, but they don't look like the "Balls" I have seen. I make no claim to be correct. :Namaste: Edit: Did not know they where Auto's, I have only done clones and from seed.

I use my SG3 to shot my videos and pic's, for the close ups I just zoom in all the way and use two hands..one to focus and one to hit the shutter icon.

Looking awesome Canna. Those pics are damn good. That is so hard to be steady enough to get those pics. We might have to call you SensiCanna instead of DocCanna or Professor Canna. I think Professor Canna is a bit long, so it is between the other two for now ;)

The first pics look like pistils for sure, it is interesting that you are seeing that before the calyx though. I would like to see another angle if possible. Don't make any rash decisions to cull the possible male. My plants pre-flowers looked very close to that. Before pistils it is very hard to tell if the part is male or female when it first comes out. Some people say that the male plants seem to grow less bushy and are kind of lankier than their sisters. I put these up earlier, but here is the progression of flowers emerging on Splinter. And let me tell you that when LST girl first started to show sex, I thought she was a he too. The parts looked different than all the others had. And lucky for me she was a she and not a he or a bee or knee of a flea!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

the last photograph you posted does look like a male stamen, too soon to call it on the second last photograph.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Thanks everyone!
Just a couple of things I wanted to clarify, first for Techman...these aren't autos. Just plain ol' take yer chances seeds. LOL
And the last two pics are of the same plant, with the little "balls". They are in the same area directly across the stem from each other.
The digital camera I'm using right now is very small, you can't manually focus the lens. You have to move it in and out once it's at maximum zoom and macro.
I think It's time I got the big guns out....the Nikon D200 with the fancy lenses and table top tripod. LOL

Rainstacks: You are one happy guy! I didn't get a clear shot of the calyx's, but the pistils are definitely coming out of them. They are sneaky lil' pistils and hide themselves very well all nestled into that area.

I'm going to call the second one a male, I won't do anything with it right now...will wait till it is evident beyond question. My reasons are this:
The growths are in an area outside of the "crook" where the calyx's grow, and they are shooting outward at an angle as if they are making sure they leave room for more in the space. They also seem to be on their own little stem, small as it is...it looks like a stem. The calyx's don't appear to have that, their bases are one with the plant. The formation of the pointed stamen growth is similar to a closed pointed cup with seams, somewhat translucent, that I would see in various seed pod bearing weeds outside, On the calyx's (female) they are more of a new bud look, like the very center of a rose. Delicate and curving outward with grace.
After KJC said "Stamen", I jumped on google images and after reviewing quite a few differences between calyx's and staminate's it was pretty clear.
So I'm going to call it a male...but I will still wait awhile.LOL

Never seen a "knee of a flea"..however, I'm quite sure with your bug photo talents you will capture one someday.

Okay, I got a closer shot. Hopefully you can see the calyx and the TWO pistils coming out. You can also just barely make out the pistils on the other side of the stem in the right side of the pic.
Let me know whatcha think:

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

And I have done my FINAL LST'ing on these plants. I'm going to let them be and fill out. Next step is the SCRoG, maybe Sunday night with the three females I have for sure. Funny, the definite females are all White Widows. There are 2 Master Kush that are possibly female, and two plants that show no real signs yet that I can find. And one that is possibly male.
So here's a final LST pic of each plant:

And I have one more clone that has rooted, CMK3, but I'm leaving it in the rockwool for a few days to get some longer roots.

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Looking great canna :)

Sorry for the male

I will follow your LST technique, i will use it for my next growth :)

:bravo::thumb:
Thanks Levernze! I have to tell you when I started the LST training I was using yarn and tape. Then switched to pieces of coated coat hangers. It didn't hold up real well, the air circulation kept lifting the tape off the buckets and the coat hangers were bothersome to bend just right. It was a pain in the Arse!
I got myself some 18/2 coated wire a couple days ago, and that stuff is a dream! I wish I had started with that, I just bend the top to fit over the branch or leaf and then stick the length into the soil. It holds really well. I made them long enough to go just to the bottom of the buckets. Easy to remove and adjust.
If I had started with that wire I could have gotten more of a spiral shape to the plants, which is what I was striving for....why? Heck, just because I thought it looked cool. :biglaugh:
I also made use of some wooden skewers to help keep large leafs off to the sides to expose more grow areas and to help branches bend in the direction I wanted them to.
Have fun!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Pardon me for my tardiness, and I hope you don't mind me tagging along. I use pipe cleaners for lst, and they work well, and I've seen a lot of people using paper clips.
