Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg & More! CFL's - LED - HPS

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

I am glad to see the cloning is going well, and you got a girl too! Very exciting stuff. Beautiful job, getting roots. Now next time be patient and wait until you see roots come out of the rockwool! The plant needs enough roots to take up water and nutrients. I would let the roots grow so that they are about equal in size to the plant itself in mass, not necessarily in length or width. Just use your instincts on this. If you do get ancy and want to put them in soil already, then see if they can keep their leaves up. If they can't you can cut the leaves back some. Just my two cents, keep up the beautiful work Doctor Canna :) Reps for the roots!

Geez, NOW you tell me! I JUST got done putting the three rooted clones in soil!
Well, I will leave them for a couple of days and see if they hold up. LOL There are 5 left that haven't rooted yet, so I'll let those go awhile as you suggested. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I am still having a little trouble on yellowing leaves with the plants. I defoliated all of the yellow ones last night and this morning I see evidence of others beginning. Hmmmmm
I started 1/4 strength nutes (GH) 2 days ago, but the yellowing actually started before I did that.
I will have a couple of pics in a bit, hopefully it's just the natural pruning as we had discussed before.

Edit, Thanks for the reps!!

Thanks Ricorico.:cheesygrinsmiley:
Okay, Here's some pics of the new yellowing leaves, one of the plants yellows are near the bottom of the stem, the other one is above it a couple of nodes and it's a large fan leaf:

Next subject. I transplanted the clones to soil this morning. First I put some holes in the cups on the sides like rainstacks showed us, I can't remember who suggested it to him...but it was a great idea! What I used was an old soldering iron that I've been trying to find a reason to keep. It worked better than trying to hold onto a hot nail for me. If you do this with either a hot nail or the soldering iron, remember you are melting plastic...there are FUMES created that you don't want to breath! Do this in a ventilated area and wear a quality mask!

Now into the 2 cup method, one cup has a layer of clay balls at the bottom and then the clone cup goes inside that for good drainage and air flow.

Dang, one more thing...LOL
I had read some things on rooting clones and one thing I had found was people using the seedling mats under the clone cups. I read only one post where it said don't do it as they will get too hot. Well, I thought majority rule says try it....so I tried it yesterday. The 5 clones that I placed on the seedling mat wilted terribly when I checked them last night and the trays they were in were way too warm. They were getting cooked! I got them off of there straight away and this morning they look great. So, no seedling mat anymore unless I'm germinating or raising seedlings as it's supposed to be used for. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Good Morning Canna. So you don't think keeping the tip of a burning cigarette hot by puffing on it between using it to make holes in the cup would be a good idea?

Ummmm...no I wouldn't think that to be a good idear. You're still creating fumes when you melt that plastic, and now you've got melted plastic on the cigarette that you are inhaling. Besides....cigarettes are bad for you in general! LOL
And good morning to you too! :-)

Should have a humidity dome on my clones that are transplanted?

What I would do is watch for them to wilt...mist them if they do

If they wilt bad...I would mist the leaves and put a zip-lock bag over the solo cup

If they don't wilt ...your fine

That's just what has worked great for me

The clones will wilt if the root system isn't mature enough to transport the required water and nutrients to the leaves...misting the leaves and adding the dome (if necessary) will provide the leaves with the water they need until the root system is large enough to support them

Your doing great:thumb:

Hey thanks Jay233! These plants seem to react pretty quickly to change, so I will check them tonight for wilting. ;-)

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS

Well, now it looks like I'll have to do what I feared I would have to do. If I'm going to get maximum yield from my girls...I'm going to need bigger pots. The ones I currently have are only 2.5 gallon, and if what I'm reading up on is true...I need bigger than that for maximum buds.
The way I see it...it's like a goldfish...the bigger the container the bigger the goldfish will get.
Storytime?
Proof in the pudding on that is, I had a few goldfish in an indoor aquarium a few years back and got rid of the aquarium. The goldfish at that time were no more than 1 1/2" long at best and they went into my pond/lake. To my surprise the next summer they were still alive and about 10" long! That has been at least 5 years ago, they are still alive and continue to grow.

So, I'm on the search for bigger pots.... that don't cost any money.

There are some reusable shopping bags that will work. it must be a breathable material though.
Awesome idea shottafire! I've got a couple of those lying around that are recycled materials (breathable):thanks: My mind is working now....structure. LOL

Your roots were perfect for soil, Cannafan :circle-of-love:

If Jedi Master Rico says so, then you have nothing to worry about :thumb:

It sounds like they doing well so far :) I have been using DP's method to water my clones, in which I only water the area I know there are roots a little bit as needed. It seems to be going well so far. I have also read that watering the outer edge makes the roots search more, I will try that next, and see how it goes.

Come on PeeJay, you have to use a :joint: for that my friend!? Now go pick out a nice switch for yourself ;)

Should I have a humidity dome on my clones that are transplanted?

If the leaves are staying up then no. When they do not have roots to they can't take up much water, so you have to keep humidity close to 100%, but once they have roots and can keep turgidity up you want them getting air and circulation, as their metabolism will be picking back up. Also about the root temps (using heating pad) there is an old journal in here by a member who's name it won't let me write here. PM me if you want to read about plant health as it relates to soil temp, as well as leaf temp relative to ambient temp. It is quite a long read, but very very informative.

Your grow is looking more and more like a pro's every day Doc Canna :thumb:

P.S. - I would love to see a pic of one of the fish! Just make sure you relate it to Cannabis if you do put one in :) You are thinking of doing an aquaponics set up right? ;)
