re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow White Widow-Master Kush Reveg and More! CFL's/LED/HPS
On the length of the lighting, I realize when I look at the first picture that the second long light fixture cannot be seen. There is another one that goes the rest of the length of the scrog screen. I also hung a different type of fixture right between the two long ones today to make sure there is light in the center.
In each corner of the grow area are old camera tripod stands that I have clip on fans attached to and I can attach clip on lights if needed too. On the front board I added a piece of wood so I can attach two dremel tool hanger stands, they telescope up and have a hook on top of them. I figure when I need them I can attach lighting or fans where I need later.
The scrog screen itself is wooden with strings, so no metal to worry about on this one. The string is fairly easy to push around and separate if I HAVE to take a plant out for any reason. (which just made me think, I better secure each joining section with some tape so they don't get pushed around by the plants. LOL) I wish it were a bit wider though, I could fit two buckets under it easily, one in front of the other. But I'll be building another one from PVC this winter that fits the space in order to use it to its full potential.
Thanks for the tip on infrared/laser heat sensor, they have those now that you can use during cooking...I know I saw one on ebay a few months back that was reasonably priced. They used to be used in the automotive industry and were extremely expensive.
Good on the roots, I didn't think they looked rotted but wasn't really sure. They held together well when I flushed them. We'll see if that plants comes back around, it wilted A LOT, when I replanted it. If it doesn't, well it will go in the trash. I want to concentrate my efforts and spend energy dollars on plants that are doing well.
Well, I'm off to see if I can get some clones. I made some humidity domes from 2 liter pepsi bottles like I saw someone on this site do. I LOVE when I don't have to spend money! DIY BABY!!
Hey Rain! Thanks for the reps! Always a goodly thing. And for the thumbs up on the LST, I really like how it's going too.Hi Canna, I hope you are having a great weekend. I am really liking what you are doing with your training. Those roots looked perfectly fine to me. You want to look for that white color on new root growth. If some of the roots were spongy/mush and fell apart in your fingers then that would be a sign that they sat in water for too long. The grow setup looks sort of long to me, but it is hard to tell. You want to base the shape on the footprint of the lights you will be using. If the intensity is much greater in the middle, you will get faster growth in that area. Run the lights you have in the area and see how bright it looks throughout. Also check the temps of the screen you made. Metal without a plastic coating on it may heat up a bit too much indoors. If you do end up getting a male, it would be a pain cutting it out one piece at a time, and having to be so careful not to cut the wrong plant or get tangled and cause damage. As far as the lights from underneath pointing up, don't do it. Leaves are like little solar panels that work from overhead light. Light from the sides would work though. I wanted to tell you too that there are heat guns that can measure the temp of the leaves(I feel like you asked about this before, I thought about it but forgot to say so), they use a laser. The closer the leaf temp is to the ambient temp, the easier it is on the plant. If you want some more info on this PM me. I can't wait to see how you end up training these plants. They are looking so cool +reps
