Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

thanks both for the kind words, im just chuffed to of won motm, never thought i would be nominated let along win, i enjoy growing and enjoy helping others grow so its all good, i must be on here 7 or 8 hours a day,

curling up of the leaves is as far as i can tell a sign of high temps, ive also heard that ph can cause it as well but not come across this myself so cant say if its high or low ph that could cause it, their could be other reasons of course but the main issue is temps, the plant cups the leaves up as its trying to cool down by losing more moisture, so usually using a fan or raising the light a bit solves the problem, it should be sorted within 24 hours if it is temps, if its not temps then raising the light and using a fan would make no difference then id look at nutrients or ph problem,

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

Canna when I first read this I imagined you on the porch with a rifle shooting at muskrats to feed your kids (human) for dinner.:rofl::rofl:
You don't eat them right?
Your plants are looking perfect! I am really proud of you Canna. I think that you saw the hangers in Ricorico's thread maybe. He is a master of LST for sure. I remember DocBud saying once that the slight turning up of the edges may be a sign of the most minute mag deficiency. I seriously would not worry about it at all, you are doing so so well. But I will have to try and hunt that down. Maybe DP knows. I think you are going to have a damn good shot at MOTY DP, I know you would have my vote. The site should be paying you! Maybe not a bad idea hu?

Canna, the pics you put up and your diy projects are one of the things that make your journal so good. The more pics the better in my book! I want to see a group shot soon! + reps for a beautiful little plant!

Oh a Big H*** no to eating them! yuk! I can put better things on my dinner table than that...which would be venison. They used to be good for trapping for the pelts, but not so much anymore. Let's just say I thin the herds a little.

Awww...now yer' gonna go and make me blush:battingeyelashes: In all honesty what I've done so far has only been achieved by reading through this site and putting some basic protocols in place, then following through with what you all tell me.:cheesygrinsmiley:
Thanks for the +reps again!

I do have to agree with Donp and myself here. The plants do not appear to have gotten any worse on the curling issue. I'll be watching close though.
I was just down there checking on them and I cannot believe how much they have grown! They are looking very cannafied. NO question as to what these kids are now!:rollit: I'm going to try to get some pics uploaded tomorrow morning. They are just such lil' cuties. Three of them seem a little slow yet, especially the toddler mutant. But they look healthy.

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

it wont be long before their all growing like weeds, once you are at 3 or 4 nodes high they grow like crazy, as long as you dont over water growth will be rapid right up until you start flowering them

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

Quick pic update. Have to leave for work. I got my first whiff of "skunk" smell when taking these pics. LOL

Nice job canna...the lst looks good:thumb:
Thanks Jay233, and :welcome: to my journal! I am very happy with how things are going so far, a little glitch in the beginning but appears to be "rolling" right along now.
I'm going to officially call the plants with the LST teenagers now. The ones waiting to get a bit taller I'll call "pre-teens". LOL
I'll call me a giddy lil' school girl while I watch these kids grow. :biglaugh:

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

Okay, time for a story and tomorrow night I"ll be posting some pics of the growth on these teens.

"Twas a fall evening and opening Bow hunting day had finally arrived. I donned my hunting clothes and my bow and headed out for my favorite stand not too far from the house in the woods. I climbed up into the stand, got my safety harness on and quietly sat to begin the wait.
Directly in front of me, about 25 yards, was a small field of rye. Now, turkeys love to hang out in this stuff and this early evening was no different as they headed for their last scratch-a-meal-up session before retiring to the trees. There were about 5 dozen of the large birds, most all of them hens and I was much enjoying watching them and listening to their chatter. They were unaware of me, as I moved not an inch. They have very keen eyesight.
It was so peaceful....then all of a sudden there arose such a clatter! My Dog, a very very large dog, whom I had forgotten to lock in the house...ran right into the midst of those turkeys! Turkeys started into the air..... some left..some right... but most bolted into the air straight toward me! Now if you have ever been close to a wild turkey, you know that the size of these birds is something to behold. Now picture a few dozen of those things heading straight for you in frightened flight!! I ducked!..they landed!...above my head, beside me, under me. Only a couple of them made it to different trees. I was so shocked that I was completely missed by all of them.

So there I sat, turkeys here...turkeys there...turkey turkey everywhere. And the dog, still running in circles wondering where everybody went!? I knew I had to get the dog into the house....but what to do about the turkeys? One was directly above my head on a branch, a mere two feet of space between us. Obviously I was afraid to look up. They drop heavy loads.
I finally gathered up the nerve to slowly move off the seat and down the ladder. They stirred a bit, but didn't spook. I made it down ever so slowly and made the trip back to the house to lock the dog in, truly dumbfounded that those birds stayed put! Surely they will spook when I go back out there, it's opening day and I'm going to hunt with or without them! I made it back out to the tree very quietly and slowly. A couple of them watched me warily, but stayed put. I climbed up the ladder, stepped onto the stand....nothing. I put my harness on...sat down...and still nothing moved. WOW! I thought, that camouflage hunting suit can't be THAT good!
Those birds stayed in that tree with me almost twenty minutes before they slowly started flying down one by one and clucking their little location clucks to each other and meandering off into the woods.
I didn't get a deer that night, but I sure got the scare and a story to remember forever!

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

Your plants are looking perfect Canna :adore::adore::adore::green_heart:

I really liked your story as always! That is pretty damn bad ass that you are a bowhunter. That takes some real skill. Those turkeys would be terrifing flying at you! My dad has a lot of birds on his property. Peacocks, Jungle Fowl, Guinie Fowl and maybe still a few egg layers. They roam around and are constantly getting picked off by coyotes racoons and possums among other things. I once got to see the peacocks do a mating dance. It was something to behold, magical really. Sort of reminded me of the protected turkeys I used to see when I went to college in Monterey. The peacock shakes his feathers with his tail fully spread like a huge fan. It sounds JUST like rain! Their feathers are even prettier when they are on the bird too. :)

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

Hey Rain! Thanks! You are too kind.
Yeah, I know what you mean on the coyotes. I have them here too and they get just as hungry as any other animal. Natures' way and all that....there's a song in my head now that I typed that...."It's natures way..It's natures way. It's natures way of telling you.." who sang that?? Uriah Heep?Spirit? That will be in my head all day now.:biglaugh:

Oh well, on to the growing. I have been trying to figure out since I began this journey how I was going to exhaust the smell out of my basement and a brick hit me in the head this morning. It said "DUH"! I have an outdoor wood burning stove that has a pipe going into the basement to draw warmer air to the stove instead of the freezing outside air. I am not using the burner this year, so I can get a few feet of flexible vent hose and connect it straight into my flower room to draw the smell out! I'll probably rig up a carbon filter too.
More work to do. But the end result will be worth it.:cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

Okay we are now at day 31. My kids are a month old. I'm going to post some pics tonight..hopefully, but I wanted to ask about the lights while it's on my mind. I am still on 18/6 light schedule, is that where I should be?
Thanks everybody!

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

hi mate, looking good, if your keeping them in veg then keep it 18-6 until you want to flower them off then go 12-12, not sure whats going on with the stripy coloured plant, possibly over watered but not come across it so cant really say for sure, might be something in the help guide below in my signature

Hi DP, thanks for the info!
The odd looking plant is the one I've been calling Toddler mutant ninja cannabis. It's been wrinkled up like this since it sprouted. I was thinking it may be a different strain than it was supposed to be (WW). But you said it's very possible it's the same strain, just different pheno type. The plant looks quite healthy and it's growing, even the new growth has these leaves though. All of the plants have recovered from the overwater period, including this one as far as growing and looking green.
So, I'm very interested to see what it will turn out to be when it grows up. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

Hi Canna,

Just dropping by to check in and I see your plants are chugging along beautifully! Congrats!!!!

Have to share with you that I thought your proposed use of your wardrobe as a drying space/room was so ingenious I purchased one yesterday to use for my crop! I'm harvesting first thing in the morning! YEA!!! Wish I had something suitable around that I could repurpose, but don't and thought the wardrobe a great solution. Thanks again for sharing your grow and your ideas!

Re: Newest of Noobs..from set up to growing and harvesting

Well, I've tried and tried to upload photos just like I always do. It shows pictures in my que, but they will not upload to the galleries. I tried resizing, I know they aren't over the allowed size. I cannot find anywhere to delete the photos in the que.
Does anyone know of a help area or thread that we can ask what's going on with photo trouble? I can't even find an area to delete photos that are in my gallery. {{sigh}}
I'll try them again in the morning and see what happens.

Thanks Jay233!
I have given up for the night. I know they did some site maintenance today, maybe that affected something. Hopefully by tomorrow morning the queue will be cleared and I can try again.
Have a great night...or day where ever you are! :thumb:
