CannabisMeds' CBD Grow - Pennywise - Dawgfather - Rawdawg - Soil - LED + CFL 2013-14

Re: CannabisMeds' CBD Grow - Pennywise - Dawgfather - Rawdawg - Soil - LED + CFL 2013

Truly beautiful. It's plain to see they're very cared about.

I  your organic approach. I'm the same way! :high-five:

Have some reps!

Thaaank you, and yes, organic all the way! :high-five:

Now, if I can just keep them all healthy and happy throughout flowering, I'll be happy. But I do think it's going to be a challenge, especially with the finicky gal. She's going to want some nutes, I'm pretty sure.

Re: CannabisMeds' CBD Grow - Pennywise - Dawgfather - Rawdawg - Soil - LED + CFL 2013

Canna, if you want to get the best out of your compost tea, you would not add anything more than maybe molasses to the tea. Like you said, it is about microbes and when they get into your soil, they break down organic matter into a form which can easily be taken up by the root hairs. When you use mychorrizae you are increasing the amount of root structure because the fungi forms a thick mat in the soil, also called a fungal mat (forests would die without it). So it is a symbiotic relationship which is dependent on soil health and will increase yields if used properly. Since you are using organic materials to fertilize, I would say it was okay, but only if you plan to use that tea the day you add the nutrients. If you let it sit, it can become anaerobic very rapidly and host organisms you may not want in your soil, in your grow room. The entire idea in organic growing of any plant A to Z is to feed the soil, the microbes in the soil and they will make available the nutrients in the soil to the root hairs. Too heavy a fertilizer in the tea can bun the microbes, even if it is organic.

Hey Garden,

Yeah, that was my gut instinct, that if I added any nutes, even if organic, they might burn the microbes in the tea.

But the microbes do love black strap molasses and that will give your plants a little iron and the sugars for the biota.

Oh, they got plenty of that ;)

Thanks Cronic, happy harvestday!

Thank you, Joopman! I can't wait either. It's going to be a long 9 weeks or so, but it should be fun to watch.

I'll do another update soon, maybe tomorrow, with pics.

The ladies are officially in 12/12 now.

Re: CannabisMeds' CBD Grow - Pennywise - Dawgfather - Rawdawg - Soil - LED + CFL 2013

Ok, it's been a little while since my last update.

Since then, the 3 ladies in the tent have been flipped to 12/12. I took a bunch of cuttings and they are all in rooting plugs at the moment, under their dome.

The very next day, all of the clones were looking pretty droopy and sad. I'm not sure if it was due to the new rooting plugs, the temps, the light or what. some of them rebounded a bit the next day. I really don't know how many of them are going to make it this time, way too early to say. I might have to take a few more cuttings though, not sure. I think a couple of them might have been just too big for cloning.

The Blue Cheese cluster is looking pretty good. I plan to let it veg as is for another week or two before sticking it in the tent to flower with the big girls. I don't care about yield on it at all, I just want to get a few flowers from it in the end.

Right before I put the gals into flower, I gave them an extended dark period. What was wild was that when the lights finally came on, all of the plants were vigorously raised up, like I had never seen them before! Dawgfather 2, the big girl, really had a spurt and must have grown 2 inches vertically. In addition, she really widened out. She had so much new growth, that it was very pale in color. Part of this I assume was from the lack of light during the dark period. However, I felt like she may need some extra nutes, and I didn't give her any when I gave them tea last Sat. So, long story short, I decided to give her a light dose of nutes yesterday. She easily took on the extra gallon of water, without any draining out. Today, she looked great. I'll keep an eye on her over the next couple of days. Tomorrow or Friday, the others will be due for water and I think I'll also give them just a dash of nutes, but not as much. Penny has more soil and it's a richer mix of Super Soil, so I wasn't expecting to have to feed her, except maybe at the end. I will probably supplement them with light nutes, esp in the second half of flowering. I'll just have to see how they look and hope that I'll be able to read them ok.

Now some pics...

Here are the cuttings. Aren't they nice looking?

Closer to real coloring, but filtered, so this is more green and less true color.

Bonus post:

So, a few days ago I picked up a 'name brand' timer from a local shop. The MSRP was $13 I think. I paid almost $12.

Yesterday I was in the the national chain discount hardware store. (not Home Despot, Blowes, or Mace) I found what I believe is the exact same timer for $4.95! It even has the same packaging, and check out the little seal sticker on the back. Same little square sticker in the same place. Everything, including the specs, is identical. The only differences are the fancy logo and the graphics screened onto the dial. All of the plastic, the switches, the case, it's all the same item. For less than half. Just goes to show you how much these specialty companies mark up their prices. Buyer beware!

Needless to say, I returned the name brand version!

Woo, 12/12! :cheertwo:

Grats on the flip!

The girls are looking fantastic. They've kept their even, groomed appearance even with all the new growth. Just lovely!

And those are the best looking cuttings I've never seen. :laughtwo: ;)

For the most part, they have. Although the big Dawgfather gal has a big shoot coming up right in the middle that is now taller than the rest of the plant. I'm debating with myself on whether or not I should do something about it or just let it grow out at this point!

Yes, the cuttings are just lovely, thanks for noticing! ;)

( they really are there, I promise )
