Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

How often are you changing you res? Wild ph/ppm fluctuations like what you are experiencing are a indication that you need to swap out your res...unless you've adopted the Lucas Method...in which case it would appear that your strain choices don't like it, as some will just not perform under that regime. With respect to tha cal/mag issue, just a couple of hours of exposure to sub-optimal ph conditions can, and will, cause lockout, so I'd be very careful with adding anything until you stabilize the ph, you may do more harm than good.

Re: Air pump dropping ph

I thought I had read a lot on co2 before adding it. Boy did I learn a lesson today. My reservoir ph dropped again by .5 before I realized that my air pump is pumping o2 and co2 @ 1200ppm into the reservoir constantly making my reservoir too acidic for my girls. I moved the air pump outside of the tent today. I will know by tomorrow if that's solved my ph problem. Air pump location is really important when using co2 and it seems I learned the hard way...

I'm really glad you brought that up because I hadn't thought about it, and I've got a CO2 tank arriving the same day the dehumidifier does. Never even thought about the airstone pumping CO2-enriched air into the res...

I change my res on this grow every Thursday. I use the AN feeding schedule w/ some additions. I think you are right about the Cal issue. You just confirmed my growing suspicion. I keep my reservoir pretty stable. I think having my air pump inside my grow tent pumped too much CO2 into the reservoir causing my PH to drop. I am hoping the shift in ppm is from the plants using more water. I hope...

Nirvana is organic and doesn't seem to be very strong. I wont add any of the sensiCal unless I have to.

Yea... I don't know why I didnt think of it before now. I wonder how many people this has happened too when they first started using CO2. I didnt see much of a drop the first couple days. LOL I have had the CO2 for like 10 days. LOL this never should have happened...

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Today I installed a Air-zone XT-800 air purifier. I can't believe how well this thing works. I had a Biozone in here and I ended up giving it to my grandmother because of her allergies. She loves it. While waiting on the new unit to be delivered I was able to really smell the plants and nutes. I got the Air-zone XT-800 in today and within 2 hours I was able to turn off the 10 inch carbon filter. I highly recommend these air purifiers to anyone in the market for good oder control!

Hopefully the ozone generator is not in the grow room - according to Jorge Cervantes ozone is damaging to plants.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Well the PH Dropped again today and the TDS has gone up by more then 400 PPM. I read that this is normal and is caused by the plants using more water then water/nutes and that is causing my TDS to rise and PH to fall. I am still going to keep an eye on it but I am pretty relieved I didn't somehow cross contaminate them

plants also leech waste throught the roots. How often are you completely replacng the nute solution? I used to make my daily adjustments on my DWC setup and dump/replace it every two weeks. Stale solution can cause alot of problems, not to mention the TDS will get way out of whack.

Re: Day 28 @ 12/12

I am posting this a day late. I didn't have time last night.

I figured out the reason for the nightly PH drop. Evidently CO2 drops the PH of water. I have decided to raise the PH from around 5.8 to 6.5 when I adjust it. This keeps me from dipping below 5 by morning. The couple days that they dipped below five didn't seem to have any ill effects on either plant.

Your air pump is outside the tent, right?

Hey slimm, thanks for checking out my grow. Ozone can seriously damage a plant @ higher levels. I am nowhere near these levels. I would have to turn this thing to full blast and close everything up. I put it in the same room as both grows but the only plants I really care about are these and they are in a CGE (more or less) so they will only be subjected to very small amounts of O3

Sup Monkey. Your name reminds me of the mad monkey from Family Guy. LOL not sure why. I change the nute solution these girls get every Thursday. They get a full reservoir change. I do reuse the nute solution in my other grow but thats only because they are not worth using new nutes on.

Yea lol yesterday I moved it outside of the tent. Hehe im slow.

Nice grow Bux, I'm impressed with the way you analyze your problems and deal with them.
reps if I can.

I've been a rep slut today I guess, no more reps available for a while.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

PH problem has been solved. Moving the air supply outside the tent helped some but venting the tent at night solved the issue completely. I am guessing the CO2 was pooling up at the bottom of the tent during the night time and lowering the PH. This morning when I checked it the PH was only 0.04 different then yesterday.

What a relief.

I will take some pics today and post an update after I change the reservoir.

Thx, I was starting to get worried that it was root rot or something else and not something to do with the CO2. I always forget to spread rep lol. I should do that more.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Btw the leaf damage looks like a mg deficiency caused by pH lock. Since your pH is corrected, you shouldn't see more of it, but those leafs will be permanently damaged.

It should take 4 - 5 days for a plant to recover from pH nute lock. BTW, do your stems have purple lines?

You see a Mg def too? Its totally possible. I know I have a small Cal def because of nute lock. I am just glad the PH swings are over. My girls were looking perfect until the PH started locking out nutes. There are no purple lines in the stems that I can tell.

Day 34 @ 12/12

I fixed the PH issue by venting out the tent at night. It now climbs like flowering plants normally do. I have two theories on why this fixed the nightly PH drop.

I have a little 2x2x4 tent. I have it sealed up pretty damn good. This 20lb tank has not budged still way over 800 PSI and its been on a month.

1 The CO2 would pool up at the bottom of the tent from the day and has been causing my reservoir to constantly drop to the point I triple checked for root rot. Venting every night gets rid of the CO2 down there that builds up during the day.

2 With 60-70% at night the plants drank less water allowing the nutes to build up and the PH to drop. Venting it every night is keeping the humidity really low forcing the plant to drink more water and even out the effect.

They are both 9 week strains but the smaller one that used to be the runt has nicer buds now.... Guess thats to be expected.

those damaged leaves will eventually die off and you will see new growth fill in, but it will take a week or so before that starts. For now they will just have holes.
