Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

I noticed that too. It started in Veg I thought it was from the foliar spray beading up and burning under the light because it happened right after I sprayed with Spray n Grow. It kinda never healed then two days ago I noticed it had gotten worse. When changing the reservoir I may have splashed a little water around on the bottom leaves it gets in the way. I checked with a lupe to make sure it wasnt bugs and I read the chart and looked at all the pics but it didnt really look like any of them or sound like any of them. Does it look familar to you?

It looks similar to what happened with 2 of mine. I thought/think I splashed some homemade co2 on it. Mine got dried and crumbled to the touch.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Yes thats basically the same as mine is. I think I just splashed too much water on it when changing the reservoir and maybe a little nute spray from a problem we had installing the chiller pump hitting some leaves of that plant. They are two different strains. The WW says its not a first timers strain. The other one has a couple spots where I thought I might of gotten it with the nute spray but that one received the worst of it. What was the homemade co2?

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Yeast, Sugar and water. When your done your left with, I think, a form of alcohol. The leftovers is what I think I got on them. I clipped those leaves off and hopped for the best. I think that and some ph problems stunted them both but they are otherwise good.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

that 126w sure seems to blow away my 90w ufo. your plants are really sweet looking

Thanks, I have some 90 UFOs blooming some other plants that I didnt veg long enough and that got root rot from the high reservoir temps. I think the 90w UFO's are a viable light if used properly like you are doing in your current grow. Scrogging with the UFO's I think are the way to go.

Yea that stuff smells like beer when your finished heh. You clipped them off? I thought I heard that you shouldnt clip leaves unless they are totally dead.

I clipped them in half. Sorta like I've seen people do with clones. I basically took the stuff that was going to turn crispy off. I may have stunted them both but I'm not sure just yet.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

What's your PH running at? There is alot of twisting and cupped leaves from bottom to top. The purple light makes seeing the spots on the leaves the next thing to impossible but it sort of looks like a calcium def, but you mentioned that the leaves were brittle and that points toward boron, which has some similar apearing traits to a calcium def.

I'll be watching this grow with intense interest...as I am all the others currently going on. I want to believe that the time is here.

Hi, thanks for stopping by and checking out my grow. I think the time is here for LEDS. My PH holds steady at 5.5 - 5.9 I rarely have to adjust it. The twisting I have heard is what a plant looks like when you push it to the absolute max in terms of nutes but I havent grown enough to know that thats truly the case. I think the lower leaves have spots on them because of the accidental splashing they get when I am changing the reservoir, adding nutes, adding the water chiller pump and monitoring the PH/TDS.

After I finish up this morning I will update my journals with new pics and will look into boron def. I dont think its a calcium def because I am adding calcium.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

the leaves are really spikey on the sides! I never seen that before!

Also now that they have grown I can see what I like to call the "LED" wrinkle effect from growing so fast. I see this when I use led on 24 hrs

Thanks for dropping in. I noticed the spikey leaves too, at first I thought it was due to my accidental FIM job but then I was told that when you really max out the plants ability to intake nutes the plant sometimes grow so fast that they start to look like that. I hope thats the case anyway lol. This light is really just killing my other two LEDs. The difference is just amazing.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

These pics were taken at 14 Days into bloom (3 days ago) I had to start trimming a opening for me to access the reservoir down below and had to move the light up again. The bushmaster really took away the stretch. These are really compact plants. I hope they dont get much taller because if they do I dont know what I am going to do. I already tied the lights wires in a knot to shorten the distance and the support bar at the very top is not made to support weight. I guess I could build a support structure outside the tent and hang the lights on it. That just doesnt sound very fun heh.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Thanks for dropping in Andy. They were pretty bushy before bushmasters. I grew them really close to the light on a 24/0 veg cycle at about 80-85% RH to keep them tight enough to fit in the tent lol. Bushmaster seems to stop vertical growth totally for the first 10-16 days of flower. I used like 1/4th tsp in 8 gallons for 4 days and got no rams horning or signs of ill effects from the BM. Cammie said its typical under LEDs I think, but I had heard that when your really push the plant to its limits (nutes/lights/temps/RH) everything that they sometimes twist up like that.

Hi Bux, great update, your plants are looking really good.

I have a second theory forming about the wrinkled leaf issue. I still have heat stress showing on my BC Big Bud, due to the IR leds I believe. It's possible that you are seeing the stress in wrinkled leaves rather than edge curling as I am seeing. Further observation required on my part. I had to back off to 18" to get the BC Big Bud to settle in and I'm not entirely sure it has yet.

Day 18 at 12/12

When you say wrinkled leaves I think of a leave with wrinkles in it. That spiky effect looks more like a twisting of the leaves to me. I sort of find it hard to believe that the plant is twisting because your pushing it to the limits in all areas (lights/nutes/temps/RH/roots). If that were the case then there would be a lot of growers who know about it. Mine stopped twisting after about 2 weeks of flowering. In the pictures below you cant see the twisting effect anymore. I wish I knew what causes it. I thought maybe the bushmasters. It didnt seem to effect them as far as I could tell. It did make them look funny though.

My light was about 5 inches away from the canopy of the larger plant and about 8 inches away from the smaller one and the only thing I saw was a tiny bit of bleaching on the top tips of the larger one so I moved the light up about 3 inches on her side and the bleaching seems to have stopped. The smaller one has not experienced any ill effects. I am using AN's lightest feeding formula with some additives at 1/4 to 1/2 strength. I think for awhile I was riding a fine line with nute burn. Maybe going from an all in one to AN caused some stress. That was two weeks ago and it has not gotten worse. That was also during the spiky time.

Heres Day 18 at 12/12
The plant on the right is White Widow and is about 17 inches tall
The plant on the left is Carnival and is about 13 inches tall.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Hey warbux, nice job.....these plants love alot of H202 and it helps keep the root rot down. I add 3ml/gallon when changing the rez and at least 1ml/gallon everyday.

Hey Scumbragger thanks for lookin at my babies. I am using sensizyme and a few other additives so I cant use H2O2. These plants dont have root root thank god! My reservoir doesnt get too warm. My other ones got it and I have been adding H2O2 to that at 4 ml/gallon to kill as much as possible the first day then adding 2/ml every other day. I have it under control now but the damage is done. They are not even worth photographing lol.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

WarBux, I remember seeing the same things on my plants at one time. I wish I could remember when and what else was happening at the time but I just ignored it, not knowing it wasn't normal. I'll watch for it next run through.
