Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

I should have been more clear, or at least offered an accurate description of what I meant, sorry. The wrinkled leaves I am talking about looked more like ridges on the leaves between the veins. As if the leaf was growing more between the veins and the leaf surface bulges as a result. I don't think pushing the nutes has anything to do with it. I would expect the plant to show nute burn, not twisting if nutes were pushed. Not sure where you got that, not from my post.
The spiky, twisting issue might have been PH.
I only see heat stress on one of three strains, in my grow. The other two seem perfectly happy with the new led. I assume from this that strains all react differently to heat stress and show different symptoms. Some strains are likely not affected by heat to any great extent.
Your plants look great to me. Whatever caused your issues has been corrected. It would be nice to know the cause for future reference but it doesn't seem to be threatening your plants at this point. Look great to me.

I understand what your talking about now. I have not had this effect as far as I can tell. I wish I knew where I read that sometimes pushing the plant will cause the leaves to twist because I would love to link it. With a PH issue I would expect a nute def, that twisting doesnt look like a nute def as far as I can tell. I was under the impression that heat stress from the light would cause a light bleaching of the top leaves. Is that what you seen with yours?

Day 19 @ 12/12

Yesterday morning I had to raise my PH some to get it back to 5.5 from about 5.0. Then today I checked my PH and noticed it was at 4.8 so I raised it back up to 5.5. Fearing cross contamination from my other grow thats battling root rot I have cleaned my meters and equipment before using them. I dont like my plants swinging the PH down because it reminds me of my last grow and root rot. I checked the roots and they look good. They have brown stuff on them but its from some of the AN additives. To verify this I washed some of it off and checked to make sure the roots were white underneath. Everything appears fine but I will keep an eye on these girls to make sure I didnt somehow spread the root rot from my first grow to this grow.

As an extra preventive measure I lowered the reservoir temp down to 67 degrees from 69.

Wondering what's causing the ph to go down like that?

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Well the PH Dropped again today and the TDS has gone up by more then 400 PPM. I read that this is normal and is caused by the plants using more water then water/nutes and that is causing my TDS to rise and PH to fall. I am still going to keep an eye on it but I am pretty relieved I didn't somehow cross contaminate them

Day 28 @ 12/12

I am posting this a day late. I didn't have time last night.

I figured out the reason for the nightly PH drop. Evidently CO2 drops the PH of water. I have decided to raise the PH from around 5.8 to 6.5 when I adjust it. This keeps me from dipping below 5 by morning. The couple days that they dipped below five didn't seem to have any ill effects on either plant.

Week 4 of flowering. I am following AN's Connoisseur Light Feeding and adding Rhino Skin, Bud Factor X and Bud Candy @ 1 ML per Gallon.

The TDS after Reservoir Change 1330 PPM and Reservoir temp is back up to 69 F

I have been keeping the undergrowth alot cleaner and keeping a little access port opened. To the protest of my girls. They keep trying to take my access port away!

Shorty is the Carnival strain, and the shortest plants nick name. She is showing a lot of pistils as you can see in the pics. She is only 14 inches high.

The Taller one on the right is the White Widow. She is 18 inches tall and is showing good pistil growth especially between nodes. Her tops are showing less growth then Shorty. She doesn't have a nickname.

I noticed in the pics I need to remove some wilted undergrowth.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

I used Bud Igniter the first week and didnt really think it did anything. I just went and looked at the girls a few mins ago to clean the under brush and I noticed there are several nice flowers that are really hard to see in the pics because they are not at the top. I am not sure if this is because of the bud igniter or not. Does anyone know if that stuff really works?

hi Bux, you've got some nice baby bud porn going there. Solid looking stems on those girls. Nice work figuring out the ph issue.

Subscribed. Really interesting thread and great pics. Another LED thread added to my list...

Your nute table looks like the hydro store I go to...

What kind of dehumidifier is that and how well is it working? And I'm off to Google that controller; looks really nice.

Thanks for checking out my grow. I am actually using two dehumidifiers. The tall silver one is a Sunpentown SD-652. I ended up having to add it because the smaller one (Eva-dry Edv-1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifier) was not totally up to the task.

I find the large one removes about 375 ML in 24 hours and the smaller one removes about 150 ML in 24 hours. Thats at 80-90 @ 12/12 and 68-74 during lights out. They keep my small 2x2x4 tents RH in check. I don't think I would need both if I didn't have the reservoir chiller. If your doing a micro grow then those are the best two for there size. If I were ordering them again I would have gotten two of the Sunpentowns.

This is my first time using this feeding program and surprisingly there is no real Cal supplements included. I had a small Calcium deficiency. The only thing I had with Cal is Nirvana so I added it full strength.

:thankyou: Mmmmick I think the PH going down below 5 two nights in a row caused the Cal def to show. I added the Nirvana just to be safe.

Thanks. I just checked out the Supentown site and saw a model I liked, the SD-30E ($209). Bookmarked it for later.

Ahh you need one for a bigger area. The SD-30E is on sale @ target for 179 w free shipping. Check targets website. I dont know if I am allowed to link it or not.

Bux, you caught that def early, nice job.

Thanks, unfortunately I don't know if the Nirvana has enough Cal to correct the def. I ordered some SensiCal Mg but it wont be in for a few days. Hopefully I don't need it, my fingers are crossed.

Whoa... thanks for that. I might not wait after all. :thankyou:

My tent isn't that much bigger (5x5x6.6), but probably is a good fit for the SD-30E, plus I can dial in a particular level with it. I'm dealing with 70-90% the last week, and I don't want that to screw up my first grow...

EDIT: After further review, I figured the SD-652 should take care of my needs. Ordered one for $75, including sales tax (still free shipping). Thanks again for the tip on Target.

re: Bux's 252W LED Micro Bloom w/ CO2

Do you know how you got that small tear in the far right leaf? I saw that on one leaf on mine but 3 tears, the exact same shape. I had thought it looked strange but thought it was possible I pinched it. Unless you say you pinched it, I'm not so sure now.

The Cal Def Saga

What will happen to the leaves on a plant that has signs of a Calcium deficiency after its been corrected?

Has anyone used Nirvana before? It doesn't seem that it would have enough Calcium in it to help correct a Calcium def. I ordered some Calcium Mg but it is not here yet.

My plants raised my TDS 200PPM and lowered the PH by 0.4 in 24 hours. That seems like a lot to me.

Here is the Calcium def @ day 5... My poor baby!

the SD652 should be pretty good for your area if your not running a water chiller. If you are you might need to go get a bigger one. The humidity control is nice but the humidity @ plant canopy and dehumidifier will most likely be different. I think the one you purchased may end up needing to be on 24/7 anyway.

Hey Scooby, I asked myself that question too. That spot had signs of Cal def around the tear. I thought that was somehow related to the tear but not totally sure. Did your have a Cal def when you noticed yours? 3 tears sounds suspicious.

My ph was running high at the time and I was also having an issue with my wet/dry cycle. I noticed all 3 tears at the same time. I first thought it looked like when the japenese beetles attack this flower I have outside and eat it. I didn't see anymore after that and hadn't really thought about it till I saw yours.

I have similar little tears on some of my leaves, but they're all located where I've brushed against the plant while checking stuff or adding nutes. After finding no evidence of critters, I assumed they were just contact damage.

Air pump dropping ph

I thought I had read a lot on co2 before adding it. Boy did I learn a lesson today. My reservoir ph dropped again by .5 before I realized that my air pump is pumping o2 and co2 @ 1200ppm into the reservoir constantly making my reservoir too acidic for my girls. I moved the air pump outside of the tent today. I will know by tomorrow if that's solved my ph problem. Air pump location is really important when using co2 and it seems I learned the hard way...
