BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

I think it may be the simplest, most effective way of cloning.

I consider it a touch of a zenith in my laziness.

Get 3 dog poo bags. Use 3 to block the light. Fill 1/2 way with perlite. Fill with water until really wet. Tie bag. Poke holes. Insert clones. Wait 2-3 weeks.

They look like this when ya stick 'em in an old Birkenstock...

Every time I see that picture I think "He'll never throw away another ruined pair of sandles again."

I may have to skip the Birkenstock!

So lots of big changes around my way. I now have a 4x4 tent for my veg and a 4x8 for bloom. I have them both up and running right now, but the 8" fan that I have on the 4x8 is entirely too loud so I am going to switch the 6" fan over to it and see how that works out. I just harvested some Ultradog that I got from Tead, pulled just at 2 ounces off of it. I have some clones I got from Tead in one gallon pots at this time, have two clones of a mystery strain, then some Kali AK and Crit+. Some Dusted Bud strains in flower, getting heavy and flopping over, but I am going to let it run a bit longer. Things are constantly evolving in my world, a bit hectic, but hopefully things will be back to normal and I can get some good update pictures soon. Until then!

Hey guys, I am back! Been a lot of changes with the garden lately, but things are nearing the end and the tents are operational, just changing up the exhaust setups a bit. In veg I am running a 4 COB Timber unit for lighting and a cheap 6" inline duct fan on a speed controller for the exhaust. Strains right now are all over the place. The larger plants in one gallons were clones that I got from Tead because I was in a pinch and couldn't pop beans due to my soil cooking. There is some Kali AK, some Crit + 2.0, and the larger two lighter ones are mystery plants, I am sure Tead will identify them when makes it out this way. In the smaller pots we have Lucy Cruz and Super Sour Lime from Dusted Bud and then two Jamaican seeds that are supposedly a Trainwreck cross.

The bloom tent is running 24 COB CXB units for lighting. I initially went too large with a Can Fan Pro 8" fan which was overkill and way louder than I expected so I am going to ditch that and use my 6" Can Fan Pro which was previously on the 4x4 tent. As far as plants, it's very slim right now, only two plants, but that was by design as I knew I would be working on the grow, so it should be back to normal shortly. Both of the plants are S.Lime Cookies from Dusted Bud, the larger one is done. This is a lanky pheno.

As always, thanks for riding along!

That's a humidifier. I know you can't relate.

I know, it is a shame, about to be just one plant. Then the flood of plants you gave will be going in hopefully in about a month.

I will be running probably around 10 plants in the 4x8 growing them to 2-3 feet tall is the plan. I have some get away from me though, so we will see how that plan goes.

A humidifier..... what an interesting idea. And you say some folks actually want to raise their humidity ehhh? Crazy!

Will you be trying some cloning from all those little girls?

Cloning? I haven't decided yet. Some of the plants aren't too happy and have 3 bladed fans mixed in, so I probably won't be cloning those. Hoping to at least get Kali AK and Crit+ clones, but only time will tell. I also have to snap some pics of a mystery plant to see what strain they are.

Alright, so here is the veg tent at the moment. The 7 gallon pots are Ultradog, they got nice and yellow, seems they wanted more space or more to eat. Mixed in we have all kinds of Dusted Bud strains, then there is Critical +, Kali AK, and some seeds I brought back from Jamaica. Still learning.

Ultra Dawg can get testy. Mine are real quick to protest some cultivator infraction like too close to the light or letting them get root bound. They bounce back heartily though. Your thumb is lookin' pretty green from here my friend.

I am doing what I can. I got the new grow setup, looking to hone those skills. I am feeling better about it and not stressing the small stuff. My environment is good, the equipment is coming together how I want, have a few tweaks to make on the exhaust of each tent, but it's working well for now. The UDs were mad about being rootbound and possibly underfed. We will see. I actually harvested some UD 2-3 months ago, was a little on the heavier side for the liking, but no complaints.

A plant that is quick to protest is actually a good thing. The quicker you know, the quicker you can fix it after all.
I run into the rootbound issue with all my 2Ls really.... always tryin to grow bigger than my containers or garden will fit.

I upcanned the Kali AK (right front plant) to a 7 gallon soft pot today. She is going to be ready for the flip before the two Ultra Dog girls (right side middle and back plants). Everyone is moving along though, doing good (I guess good is a relative term. They are alive).

I planted a Jack Herer and Blueberry seed over the past two days, so those are in there as well. The plants in this picture all the way on the right are two Jamaican's that I got when we went to tour a grow. Supposedly a Trainwreck strain, they were super dark purple in the fields when we went.

On another note I took stock of my seeds the other day and decided it was time to get some more seeds. Shiggityflip was nice enough to help me with some suggestions, I have some awesome beans coming from Alphakronik, In House Genetics, Bodhi, Straysmindset, and Dynasty Genetics. Beyond that I am looking for some 2:1 and 1:1 CBD strains because I am hoping to start experimenting with the medicinal side to help some of the loved ones in my life.

So today I am just going to show you guys some of the newer faces in the garden. The first new face is Blueberry. I was super excited for the legendary Blueberry, bought a few beans, but due to newb errors and just getting the hang of things I was down to my last Blueberry seed a week or two ago. I decided to plant it knowing that it should sprout with no problem and all should be well. Did the usual and 5 days later I had nothing. I always investigate, so I dug her up and saw the shell was cracked with a short white root sticking out. I figured that since this was my last Blueberry I had to give it every effort. I dusted that little root with Roots! and stuck the root down in the soil but left the bean above the soil and pushed some soil around it. Today it was off the ground with the helmet still on, but making progress. I decided to give it some help and snatched the helmet off, then took the protective sheathing off as well. I think she might just make it!

At the same time I planted Blueberry I planted my last Jack Herer seed as well. Unlike Blueberry I have actually harvested Jack Herer before, so things weren't as dire. She popped up in 3-4 days like I am used to and although lanky, seems to be ready to rock.

The last two girls (hopefully, not feminized) are Dusted Bud's strain Lucy Cruz. These two seem to be in good spirits and are moving right along. I have been really happy with every single Dusted Bud strain I have harvested so far. Everyone who tries them always raves about them being stellar. Interested to try these handful of new (to me) strains from them.

Beyond that I am super stoked, the grow room is almost finished and I have quite a few new beans coming from different places, once I get them all in hand I will definitely let everyone in on what I have. Thanks for riding along and checking in on me!

Took some quick shots tonight as I worked in the tents. First we have the only plant in the bloom tent, a clone of my previous S.Lime Cookies plant by Dusted Bud Genetics. She just got her first Cat Drench and is doing pretty well.

Moving on to the veg tent we have the two Jamaican Trainwreck hybrids. They are both the same age although I upcanned to bigger one a week or two ago and she took off while the other smaller one stayed in a small pot and turned yellow. She got upcanned today.

Next we have another Dusted Bud Genetics strain, this one is Super Sour Lime. Both in one gallon pots, they were thirsty when the pictures were taken but got a drink right after.

Next up we have Kali AK. She had some issues at the beginning, but she seems to be rebounding nicely.

Lastly we have two plants that are doing very well in my garden, Ultra Dog #1 and #2. Supposedly this is phenotype 1 from what I was told. These guys are some stout little bushes and are loving it. I was told there is minimal stretch with this pheno, so I am going to veg them to about 16 inches or so and then flip them.

There are a couple smaller girls in the tent as well, some Lucy Cruz from Dusted Bud Genetics, Jack Herer, Blueberry, and Tesla from Alphakronik. Tesla is a high CBD/low THC strain that I am pretty excited about.

Thanks for stopping by!
