Man I gotta get a new camera. This weekend maybe even.
Thanks for the kick in the butt brix, your photos are just beautiful.
Let's just call it saturated roots. It sounds like you dried them out properly first. Don' be concerned. They get droopy sometimes. (It was a thorough soaking wasn't it?)
What time of day were the pics taken and did they perk up later? You have good RH, so transpiration is a bit low for all the fresh soil moisture.
No biggie.
... just had a thought ...
If you aren't already close, see what happens if you move one of them closer to the light ... ?
Might boost transpiration enough to perk it up.
Nah, you're right - that's pretty close.
Still, no worries. They're probably growing a buncha roots.
It was rootbound actually.
She shoots up like my agent orange. If you grow her again try the broomstick sweep of the tops each day during stretch.
Huh ... I didn't see that one coming. It was sure enough getting crowded in there.
Doc says I am not letting them dry out enough.
You will have to explain the broomstick sweep to me Shig.
I never see it coming either. And it seems like they are getting rootbound smaller and smaller. I really have to figure out this watering technique. Doc says I am not letting them dry out enough.
He only says that because the majority of the roots you've got are the thicker runners, not bad but you want as many of those little tiny fine root webs instead of the thick white roots as you can and the best way to get them (maybe the only way to get lots of them) is to let the plants get good and dry (like wilting dry) a few times at least.
the amount of no water added to any other living thing it would be considered abusive
One more observation on watering methods, for anyone reading ...
My first thought when I see thick(er) roots circling around the outside of the rootball is that water had been running down the sides, soaking that part of the ball but not the interior. When the ball shrinks from drying out, and pulls away from the sides, it's easy to neglect the inner ball. We'll water and the outside will absorb moisture and swell. The ball will suck up the water, but the inside can hold dry pockets. That's why a full submerge is helpful.
I don' know if that's what produced your circling roots, but it's worth thinking about.
