BrixNewb's First Grow & Beyond

Go BrixNewb! :cheertwo:

I'm finding Clonex + Rapid Rooters to be the easiest and most reliable way to clone, as well. Dip and poke them into the RR. Place in anything that will hold a little water. Keep moist. No electricity, pumps, tubes, bubblers or dome. Just clones with roots.

if I may add...some 1/4 strength DeStress, make sure its not too cool/cold. :)

Oh yeah. I set my clone in a Solo cup that I cut the top 2/3 off of and then cover that with a wide mouth Mason Jar with some water sprayed inside. Easy as can be!

Definitely do not forget the De-Stress. I spray them every morning.

Hey BN.....here is a top that rooted in 9days......rooter dome and heating mat.....daily 1/4 stress......

Not much to report. I took my Pineapple Chunk clone and put it in soil, we will see if it takes. Pineapple Chunk just doesn't want to grow vertically, it's still only 10" tall after 7 weeks. I decided to go ahead and put it into flower and see if it stretches. It just wanted to keep getting bushier with very minimal vertical growth. I am interested to see if the clone does the same thing.

Ok, I got a charger for my camera, so updates with pictures are back!

Grapefruit Diesel is the stretchiest plant I have grown. It was thrown into soil the same time as Pineapple Chunk and it's twice as tall. Hopefully she slows down soon, I can only jack the light up so much.

Pineapple Chunk is the squattest plant I have grown. Neiko was nice enough to let me know that there is a very short PC pheno. That is definitely the phenotype that I have, 11 inches tall after 2 months of veg.

Budzilla is a freebie seed that I got and decided to grow. It's growing nicely and I think I am going to like this guy.

Pineapple Chunk Clone was taken from the slow growing Pineapple Chunk. This is my first clone and I may have put it in soil a little too soon. It's getting a lime green color, still hitting it with De-Stress. Not too worried about it honestly since this pheno of PC doesn't fit well in my garden.

Chocolope Kush was another freebie, but I am really excited to see how it turns out. A few people here have grown it and it generally has good reviews. Stacked OG Kush served me well last round, so I am excited to see how Chocolope Kush does.

Wipeout Express Auto is above ground as well. I decided to plant two autos to make better use of the bloom tent while I am vegging the other stuff. These two should take up the space and help me use my energy more efficiently and finish up just in time to make room for other plants needing to move up. Also both free seeds.

Top that stretchy fecker! They look vigorous and I doubt it'll slow any of them more than a couple days. It'll let those lowers bush out a little more too.

Done. I may have taken the top and the node next to it, but it's all good.

While I am bastardizing plants, I decided to experiment with this Pineapple Chunk that is being less than cooperative. I was debating culling it, so it's the perfect candidate for experimentation. I have been hesitant to try extreme defoliation like Doc Bud does where he leaves 3-5 nodes. So this is the perfect platform. I topped it (not in pictures) and left only the 4 lowest nodes. I also removed all but the highest bud sites. Should be interesting.

The Clone Report

Alright, so today I am going to let you guys know the outcome of my clones. I abandoned the method I used with Roots! in a cup of water, was not seeing results I wanted in a timely fashion. I attempted to clone Pineapple Chunk in Rapid Rooters. Now that I have learned that I have the slow growing PC pheno, I decided to ditch the clone of it. It was put in a Rapid Rooter 12 days ago with Clonex and here are the roots it developed in that time.

Wow dude...that thing was doing well. You could always trim those roots off and replant it. I bet it would grow like a mofo. Or even just replant it. I've often found a tough, or slow-growing plant is often outpaced by it's own clones.

I think it was doing amazing, hopefully all my future clones will go so well. It was planted and doing well, I pulled it because the mother is 11 inches tall after 2 months of veg. I don't have the room for slow growers. I will keep that in mind for next time though. I got a decent cache of seeds, so if it's not right, it's gotta go.

Was in the tent before lights out tonight. Topped Grapefruit Diesel, she is still growing at least an inch a day. I decided to top her, but I went down a few nodes and cut the main stem. It may seem drastic and unconventional, but I believe she is going to be just fine.

I have done that when needed and never regretted it. I only have regretted it when I don't top a crazy plant. I would rather have a smaller plant with nice buds than an out of control plant.

I have read it in books by both Cervantes and Rosenthal, so I wasn't too concerned, but it's always good to hear it from someone who is in the trenches with you. I chopped down far enough that I didn't lose any well developed nodes. She was a bit flimsy on the top for some reason, the chop fixed that as well. I think it's genetic, because last grow I had very hearty stems.

Sometimes tough love is the best love.

As we all know Canna is a girl that is fond of a little BDSM. Spare the whip and she will not respect you. She will go all crazy on you.

But a little BDSM and she rewards us with sugar. As long as we feed her well. She doesn't appreciate fast food!

I think you're onto something here. Shigg's line of BDSM themed Cannabis gardening tools, with a full line of black leather gardening clothes, with lots of unnecessary zippers of course.

Fifty ShiggityFlips of Green

You guys are killing me. I would have replied last night but it takes four hours to unzip all that leather. My buddies used to call my style of growing S and M lol. And I did like the raking a big pole across the girls tops to slow stretch. I just need to add some metal studs to the broom handle. (sorry for Threadjack BN)

Why are you apologizing to me? I am over here cracking up at you guys! In my thread, just as in life, anything goes.

So that damn Grapefruit Diesel is still stretching. Definitely not the pheno I need, but I think I am just going to squeek in with enough room if she stops stretching soon. Otherwise I am going to really turn up the BDSM and break two of her limbs!
