Brightlight's Strain Fest: Organics & LED

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Hey bright! I was just thinking if you have any experience with Aficionado Genetics and work of Ras Truth? They claim to be from Emerald Triangle and have some local genetics in stabilized form that looks perfect for outdoor.

Heard he passed away. 1st heard of his work at now defunct, very relaxed grow store that doubled as growers' hangout. He was part of Emerald Mtn. Collective. His strains still available there. I hadn't heard of Aficionado but found its site...nice. Carrying on some of his strains but more at EMC. There used to be an online "treatise" on his soil theories & techniques. He knew his organics & also promoted the use of often vilified "liquids" in organics. That's what I remember most...hahaha. Do you follow Emerald Cup? You'd like it....outdoor grown competition. :Namaste:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

I think you'd like the Louis doc. I don't think CC puts out many low/mid level strains, but the Louis is 1st CC to catch my full attention in awhile. Maybe I just burned through most of the best ones earlier, but this one is a fine herb. Liked it enough to go Louis hunting. I've been fiending on seeds again to kill time during my growing break. Big surprise there. Many new strains, including some Pisces Genetics Blood Orange OG....Louis & True x Sour Tangie. I've been eyeing Pisces line for awhile but could never get the ones I wanted...always sold out.

Looking fwd. to that SD & not surprised she's already the star. My recent ordering binge included some Loud SD & Headband. I've accepted "my problem". :laughtwo:

I looked up the SoHum, which they give credit to Rev's TLO. Full coco organics....like it! I use all of its ingredients, but think maybe they have the % make up of the various ingredients down better than my experimental approach. What led you to try it? Expensive?

:thanks: :passitleft:

Thanks for the SoHum tidbit. Rev's TLO full coco organics are really working :)

Dan from AutoPots turned me on to the commercial grow on youtube and I wanted to see if I could reproduce the results. It was very spendy @ $28 a Cubic ft. I don't think I'll be buying it again, but for folks looking for true organic water only soil without doing any work, I think it's a good option to have. We'll have to see how the grow finishes up.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

I know many of you prefer heirloom strains. Take a look at Swami Organic Seeds. Long held genetics...some passed down from Brotherhoold of Eternal Love. Guerrero, Oaxaca, Nigeria, Panama, Thai, Kandahar genetics. :Namaste:

I see an original Kali Mist x Burmese/Cherry Bomb F2 ... ... Um ... ok ... I'll have some o' that! :slide: :Love

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

This Guerrero x Panama right up my alley :thumb:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Also Blue Orca Haze sounds amazing!

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Morning brightlight, I talked to Ellis at SoHum about the soil and it's not exactly the revs mix. I'd say it's loosely based on the revs TLO. It uses coco and peat. What I noticed when I first opened the bag was they also use EWC and chicken shit lol. These are the main ferts. I've never used "hen manure" in my soil, do you have any experience with it?

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Watch out chicken crap can be real hot if real fresh. Drive bye Keepem Green

Chicken manure is pretty good, but only the composted stuff. If not, it's like NCW said, hot & can fry roots. I've used it outdoors, but in mild doses. Might work good indoors too since it's acidic, which would be helpful for coco. Was told it has more phosphorous than other poops too. Right now been sticking to the Bu's Compost from dairy cows. Like it a lot. I know you use Bu's too.

When the Rev intro'd TLO, I learned a lot from him, but had to figure a lot out on my own, especially proportions. He gets a lot of flak & why IDK. On that BuildaSoil site, they tried to rip the Rev up, but then many TLO folks came on & defended his approach. After conradino asked about Ras Truth, I went back to see if his soil "treatise" was still online. It is! Take a look, lots of good soil info & principles.
:Namaste:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Thanks brother light! It's for sure composted so I think it's a good soil mix. It's actually out producing my own soil which makes me sad.

I'm of the mind set that there is no right or wrong way way to grow mmj. I'm with you, that build a soil site really lost my respect when they put so much effort in to bashing revs mix. If it sucked they never would have addressed it. Pretty sad really.
Thanks for your response brother light!

MK Ultra Auto Buds
I grew 3 of these....one took on the OG side, one had very indica leaning look, last was the dwarf purple/albino.

The indica leaner had that "spiky flower" look that autos often have. The top cola was as fat as I've grown indoors including all photos.

The OG pheno produced the prettiest buds.

A few random weed musings....
Any one watching the Weediquette TV series? Now reshowing "extended" versions of orig. episodes. Well, Swami of Swami Organic Seeds I mentioned a few posts back is in the Emerald Triangle episode. I hadn't heard of his seed line when I first watched the episode. Shows his organic garden.

During my growing break I went Imelda Marcos w/ seeds & picked up some nice strains....all small US, mostly California breeders. So will have some exciting (at least to me) new stuff coming up. Some of these new breeders have some great genetic lines, including some of the current hot strains. E.g., got a couple of Do Si Do crosses, Sunset Sherbet & Key Lime Pie.

Since going indoors, been sticking w/ fems, but while shopping ran across some amazingly tempting regulars. For you sativa fans.....Snowhigh Seeds Panama Black (Black Haze x Panama Red), Vietnamese Laughing Gas, & Golden Dragon (Khmer Gold Cambodian x Chiang Mai Northern Thai), Loompa Farms Black Yeti (UD bx2 x Vietnamese Black).

Will be soaking some seeds this or next week. New version of "soil" mixed a few wks. ago. Ready to return to action!

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

This looks awfully good, bright. Couldn't tell visually it came from an auto :bong: I hear Sherbet and Black Limeade are the new kids in NorCal now, sure would like to try them. These guys from Aficionado seem to enter a lot of Cali cups with their gear, but they don't sell the seeds unfortunately. I've been just thinking there's not enough work being done on Thai, and I'm quite sure you could pick fast flowering phenos with population large enough. I'd try that Golden Dragon if I had a greenhouse, but I'm gonna keep tracking Colombian lines for now :bong:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Those buds look great. More and more people growing autos. I can't bring myself to grow them yet but I'm getting more interested all the time.

Funny you mentioned weediquette. I've watched all the episodes. They only made 6. I keep looking for new episodes but not sure if they are going to do anymore. 6 episodes seems like it got canceled or something. Too bad because it's really entertaining.

I'll be watching those conesuer strains you picked up. Very cool beans! Sounds like you got a big dose of Vietnam black.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Thanks guys. Good to see ya & to be back around. The house projects got in the way of things I like to do. :thanks:

Ltnc brightlight mate.see u still doing well good job;) keep.safe:passitleft:

Yeah beast...good to see you too. Put to use some of your auto tips/info so thanks.

The Cookie Fam group is behind the Sherbet & the several Gelatos. Key Lime Pie is GSC pheno that seems to be taking on its own name. I waited to get more into cookie line until I could get some seeds I have confidence in. Fairly confident the Burning Bush Nurseries S1s are authentic.

Emerald Mountain Collective had the Ras strains before Aficionado was formed....at least I think? So available there. I can't shake the draw of the Thais & Asians. Can't fully do them justice outside in my area. The idea of a small dedicated long flowering tent has been crossing mind.

Know you're a big lumbo fan. A 40% off sale got me to throw in a couple extra packs including Illuminati's Divine Apocalypse...Black Haze (Black Columbian x Haze) X Abusive OG.

Hey doc. The autos were started & finished in my small veg tent during same period last group of photos were flowering. Then I shut down inside due to summer heat. 1st try at growing 2 crops at same time inside. Wouldn't want to do it all the time. Too old. Probably do it again next yr.

I enjoyed Weediquette. I been taking daily oil since Feb. but no where near those dose levels on show. Whew! Those young kids can really touch your heart. Swami's organic garden was a great glimpse of ultimate organics.

No I didn't get those. Daydreaming out loud. Just tempting the pure sativa fans.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

PotChimp just harvested what he thinks is a ThaiDawg. :cheesygrinsmiley: It was supposed to be a Thai Stick S1, but it's ... just not, heheh. And there was a Chemdawg in the tent with the Thais. So he maybe has a Thai Stick x Chemdawg. And more seeds. :slide:

Why don't we ever hear about a ThaiDawg? I looked through s'finder a little bit and didn't come up with much. That seems like it would be a good combo, no? :hmmmm:
