re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Hello! Last crop was harvested earlier this month. All in jars after the 2-stage hang & box dry. Some trimmed, some waiting. Today I grabbed the Tahoe jar to trim thinking it would be an easy & fast trim since mostly good sized buds. Wrong...didn't expect it to still so sticky as it's been 17 days since harvest. The usual whole plant hang followed by 2nd stage box cure, then jarred. I gave up half way through & vaped up a small nug instead...too much work.

Cali Connection Tahoe is a potent OG. Not uplifting like CC Sour OG or Chem91, but any CC doubters/skeptics may change their minds after a few good rounds of Tahoe. It's not tiring or sleepy but a muscle relaxing, stress dissolving, calm & relaxing feel good OG. Heavy in a good way. Behind the scenes easy going mental energy, but this strain is about physical calm & relaxation & soothing body effects.

Today is only the 2nd time I sampled it. I tried a few crumb buds broken off during harvest as soon as they dried & was surprised at its uplifting high. It was the only time I've ever gotten that zip buzz from Tahoe, but it was likely due to the "fresh as possible" high I love & prefer. That energy component has lessened but the mental side of Tahoe is still clear & sharp. I think this may be my best ever version of Tahoe.

Sharp, distinctive kerosene, fuel, solvent scent w/ lots of background citrus. The citrus is very strong in the taste & carries over for several vape hits. This plant had hardly any smell during grow in contrast to usual deep fruity fragrances I've gotten on outdoor plants. It was harvested at 69 days (breeder lists 60-70). The bud had gotten past maturity in appearance, started to lose scent, but was still only at 60/40 cloudy/clear. The pics really show the red bud, which were uniformly very red & colorful down to the smaller buds.

Current Tent Picture
2 weeks into 12/12. Sorry for the LED light pic. The plants are actually too fat for my liking as I try to keep them directly under the light footprint. Besides the usual FIMs, leaf tucking, super cropping at stretch, I added the "pony tailing" technique I learned from some of the auto experts. Man, I'll tell you, it sure helps gives the plants girth. Better pics soon, but you can see some of the late super cropping. I didn't start the SC until stretch. Back ctr. & right are 2 Serious AK 47's. This is a fussy strain, but fastest out of the chutes to flower. They are so finicky that I backed off my usual bat guano flowering regimen & even at 2 wks. the buds are smaller than last run. The high phos bat guano does burn the tips but really fattens up buds. I think I can live with the burnt tips. :laughtwo: Ghost Train Haze in back left...a big girl. Front row is Warlock, SSSDH, & Louie XIII.

Holy Moly brightlight!

Those pics show it much better. I see now those are trichome crust patches. How fun. I've never seen that type of concentrated trichomes before.

Call me a sucker for og but dang that Tahoe looks phenominal. I've heard it's really d!ck in the dirt type meds.

Thanks so much for the explanation on the mk-ultra. Sounds like a happy surprise.

I've actually collected so many beans that I'm at a crossroads what to pop next. Thought it was a no brainer for the WiFi, but you got me thinking the Tahoe might be fun last big tent run. How do you make up your mind? Coin flip lol?

I guess there is a down side to bean collecting lol.

Congrats on the harvest brother! :volcano-smiley::Love:

Thank you all for your kind words. I sincerely appreciate it.:circle-of-love:

doc...how do I pick what to grow? Still being a fairly new indoor grower, I've reached back to my outdoor roots & have tried many outdoor favorites indoors. I love my OG's, Sours, Thai strains. Lately trying some of many good promo strains before they go stale. Same problem as everyone....can't grow enough strains.

Forgot to add the picture of tent earlier. Sheesh....it has to be the Tahoe. :lot-o-toke:

Hola Amigo brightlight!

That Tahoe sounds right up my alley. I don't think you give yourself enough credit for your smoke reports. I've bought a few strains based totally off your reports. I can't say that about anyone else here on 420 lol.

I can't believe the red hairs in those buds. It looks like a plush red carpet. Does it always turn our like that? Lovely just lovely buds my friend. Can't wait for your outdoor grow as I know that's where your heart is.

Peace my brother light!:circle-of-love:

Definitely looks like an OG bud, dense and very hairy.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Been tackling some much needed home improvements so overdue on an update. About half way through flower....AK 47, SSSDH, Ghost Train Haze #1, Warlock & Louie XIII. Solid flower development w/ good 4 wk. size but no special trichome blankets or aromas yet.

A few more notes & pictures from last harvest.
TH Seeds MK Ultra
Smaller but plentiful buds. A greener bud without much color. Not much smell until buds are broken up. Then a surprisingly pungent fresh, vegetal, minty dank fragrance. A smooth vape w/ decent, mild flavor. MKU is a very pleasant & functional indica. If you like your indicas balanced w/ both head & body effects, this fits the bill. Not as uplifting & feel good as say Sensi Star, but MKU is comfortable & enjoyable w/o any fatiguing crash. In fact it wears off nice & clean. But doubling or tripling up on it does lead to a very trippy state....I've seen "hypnotic" used in some descriptions. Medium level trim effort made more difficult by the high count & smaller size of buds. Overall, I like it & consider it deserving of its lofty reputation.

Green Crack
Well now I know a little about GC. Hard to say whether Cali Connection or Humboldt Seed Org. is the better based on growing a single plant of each, but I definitely liked the Cali version much more. More sativa evident in the CC. Both are slightly creeper but the Cali is capable of a rocket take off type blast that is very likable. The HSO is a nice, enjoyable herb but I don't really have anything special to say about it. Nothing bad to say about it either. It's a rather nondescript herb compared to the likes of what I generally grow. But among we growers lots of strains fall by the wayside even though they are actually decent strains. The HSO produced some deep red bud color where the CC showed nice bright orange. CC was slightly fruity fragrance while HSO tended to be more minty, spicy. Nice to grow new strain via promo seeds but unlikely I'd select either to buy & grow again. But as always....ymmv.

Side by side...CC on left, HSO on right.

DNA Sour Kosher
As often mentioned I love the sours & this Sour Kosher was a home run. DNA has a great sour, which I believe is an AJ cut. It's all there....standard potent fuel, gas, solvent fragrance w/ lots of citrus to boot & typical "soapy" like sour diesel taste that carried over for up to 3rd or even 4th hit. I'm still new at Kosher having only grown it here & in the Kosher Tangie, but there was a common power/potency in each of those 2 strains that is probably the Kosher. It was tested against some exceptional Sunset Sorbet (one of the recent Cookies, Sherbet, Gelato related strains coming out of SF) & agreed by all that the SK easily held its own. It is surely a very potent dank herb comparable to the best Sour OG/Headband type strains that I've tried. Dang it's good to run into a keeper strain! I would buy more seeds without hesitation.

Hey dr.! Thanks for your compliments. Good to hear you've tried some strains based on my impressions. Our Lost Coast OG reports matched up pretty well even though different breeders. Yes, Tahoe is always very colorful but the recent indoor version was the deepest red I've seen on any that I've grown. It was definitely strong but for me lacks the smiley euphoria that the Sour Kosher has. Forgot to mention that aspect in my brief report, but should have as it is the quality that makes me love Sour Diesel so much.

Beautiful buds bright! Great review. My list of to grows just keeps getting bigger.

Thank you AS. You have a great variety of strains going on too. So many that it's hard to try all the ones I want & still keep my personal "regulars" on a rotation.

Definitely looks like an OG bud, dense and very hairy.

Some females are best when "dense & very hairy", but only the cannabis type.

High brother bright. Been a while looking through your garden our a big ole smile on my face everytime.
Happy daze bro.

Happy daze to you as well DK. Thanks for kind words.

Looking sweet brightlight;) well done

Thanks beast. Friends....check out his journal if you have any interests in autos.

Thanks to everyone for dropping by. :thankyou::passitleft::Namaste:

Hola brother brightlight,

I've added kosher to my strain list. I've got too many to grow anyway, why not add another lol. I certainly understand and agree with the acceptable but not a keeper philosophy. I realistically have only 3 strains I'd spend money on again after time to live with them. My #1 favorite hasn't been avaliable since 2013 lol. WiFi without a doubt. Now I see another that has grabbed my attention like no other. BC Bud Depot Animal Cookies. GSC x Fire OG BX. only difference is WiFi uses The White and AC uses GSC.

Unfortunate they are only available in regs (I know not your bag of tea). They are selling out everywhere and it reminds me of the same thing that happened with WiFi. Dusty says it's the only 1 hit and done he has had for a while. That is some solid rep. Anyways, I'm going to grab 5 from Bonza since they still have it in stock and at 25% off it's hard not to pull the trigger.

Glad your back growing and reporting, you're one of the greats! :high-five:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Nice update! Love the reviews. Top knotch plants and buds! Think I got a green crack freebie laying around. I'm hoping its from cali. Just added Sour Kosher to my list of to grows :) :Namaste:

The SK continues to impress AS....a superb Sour cross. After 2 Kosher crosses, I need to try a straight Kosher sometime too. Cali now lists its full genetics & its Green Crack is listed as the original Cecil B. cut x Deadhead. Great genetic cross but I really didn't see how the GC side added much to the Deadhead, which has always been killer.

This photo... is spectacular

Many thanks my friend. I've always been partial to good color in buds.

We all grow so many good/great strains that we are probably spoiled. Way back when herb could be scarce I would have be ecstatic to have today's least favored strains. Actually I love regular seeds but only for outdoors. Regulars often have purer genetics than fem counterpart. But indoors I don't want to grow any males that end up wasting space in a grow. Look forward to your BCBD Animal Cookie grow. Uncle grew the BCBD straight GSC & liked it. It has mixed reviews.

Since I'm posting, here's a pic of the CC Louie XIII. Couple of things worth mentioning. It is a replacement to a failed GTH so 3 wks. less in veg. It caught up to a fast growing AK47 & GTH. It is listed as fast grower but I think there may be another factor. I planted it straight into its final 2 gal. pot. Now with the small veg tent, I don't see any reason to start in smaller pots anymore. Cali crossed the Louie cut w/ some Tahoe. ~4 yrs. ago I grew a Buddha outdoors that was listed as Tahoe x Louie. Tall rangy plant, medium frost, little smell, not going to be high yielder, was initially disappointed in bud production but at 6 wks., it is very seriously oily & sticky. Dark green leaves w/ nice white pistils. Seems promising.
