Brightlight's Strain Fest: Organics & LED

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Mighty fine update brother brightlight! Nice tip on the Jacky White. That sounds like a really nice hybrid. That tangilope sounds scary to me lol.

Love your strain selection. What's on your mind for the next seeds you plant? I bought so many packs of regs of really good strains but I'm feeling like feminized is more for me until I'm finished recovering from surgery. So much work goes into growing regs.

Sour Kosher
Photo is just past 5 wks. 12/12. Lacks the Sour Diesel skunky, fuel smell I like so well. Not fragrant yet. Getting frosty & very sticky....beyond sticky, syrupy is better description. Gooey to the touch. So far, so good.

I like JW but it's not on top favorite list. Others seem to really like it....why I've grown out a full pack. Similar would be HSO Dedoverde Haze, which I easily rate higher. Yeah, fems work best for me since I grow from seed...no room for mothers or need for clones. Indoors a male showing up would just waste the tent space in that grow. Next up in veg now are Serious AK & Warlock, a SSDH, a Louis XIII, & a GTH#1.

PS that coffee gunk looks brutal lol. You are a brave man. I throw my left over MBM material away lol.

 Up to now I'd thrown out MBH residual material too. This time I measured the produced butter to find out there was still nearly 2 cubes in the gunk. Always felt a little sorry & wasteful to toss it. Good pal uses every bit of his so I knew he'd want it. The bulletproof coffee is a new fad I hadn't tried so that's how I got to making BP coffee with it. Like it more each time I've made it. BPC touts health benefits including improved digestion. The canna BPC works similar to eating it, but not quite the same. Caffeine w/ THC & CBD....I like it! Try a cup doc!

More coming up 420bro....think maybe even 1 more batch after those in veg now. After that it's too hot here.:thanks:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Hi Brightlight,

Very awesome strains as usual. If I remember right, you grew the sssdh before and had very positive things to say about it. I'm very impressed with the CSG strawberries and cream. Frosty and stinky and the yield looks to be double of anything else in the tent. CSG needs a little more of my attention. I've only heard positives about the GTH #1 as well.

I'll have to get my courage up to try some of the green sludge lol. But, you are right my last batch had 4 cups of butter go in and only 3 cups out. I think the strainer that comes with the MBM is a little to efficient. I might try cheese cloth next time and see if I can boost the return.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Good memory doc. SSSDH is a definite favorite. Grew out entire pack of regulars, but now using fems. Sure hope the fems are like/as good as the regs. I'm like the warm up band before the headliner plays......CareStaker is starting one now/soon. My experience with Connoisseur has been positive....SSSDH, GS Haze Cookies, & Cheesedog so far. Also have a Rainbow Jones & a mixed 3 pack, which is strange marketing. How can I buy it if I like it if I don't know what it is? Your S&C is going to be a good one....will be good to see how their White compares to OGR's.

I lost a GTH to damping off. So ok, that hasn't happened for a long time, maybe just unlucky. 2nd GTH lacked the zip to fully emerge so she was discarded. Decided to not pound my head against the wall & save last 3 for another day & sprouted the Louis XIII instead.

Cheesecloth sounds like a good idea. I let butter drain for a long time out of that "feed bag" strainer. Squeezed it too but didn't want to blow it open by squeezing too hard. If you're a coffee guy, try a BPC, might surprise you.

I hope you catch a stunner of a SSSDH. :Namaste: i'm sure you'll know what she wants. It will be my first run of her, so I'd wager you end up with the better of the two. I hear she's a bit beasty, with a four week stretch ? BPC is now on my list of things to do, might as well. A big thanks to this crazy community, for yet another way, that I can ingest both caffeine and cannabis, lol. I'm no headliner.....I once sang backup, and they let me, as long as I didn't plug the mic in.

Super excited for this one BL, good vibes :surf:

Hi CareStaker,

Are you Journaling the sssdh? I've got some beans of it and would like to follow along with you and brightlight f for tips and tricks :thumb:

I have that little seed in hand, and can't wait to germ and journal. :cheer: I'm just waiting for the construction on my building to be complete, before I bring her to life.

I'm hoping it's not too much more than another week or two. But, I've been waiting - wow - a couple of years to run her. There was one online vendor that had the old Rez gear, for what seemed like forever. I didn't pick any up, as I didn't know if I was capable of doing her justice. When I thought that I could grow her out without killing her, the old stock (SSSDH, Snowdog BX, ECSD v3, SD IBL) was no longer available. Then I heard that Connoisseur was carrying on the SSSDH line, and looked, but they were out. Then the had it, if you bought a ten pack, but I was already stocked for my next run.

Finally, I get to run her. I can't wait to compare notes with you guys. Anticipating some Chemmy fire :Namaste:

Drive bye.. Guess I got scolded for mentioning something other than pot on a post I did. Oh well nothing to lose sleep over. Wasn't the first time nor be the last.
I seen your going to do a Warlock? Or was it a cross. If I remember right Warlock was the last time I entered a contest on here back in 09. Was a Great Plant with a great name. I was going to order some more once but they were out then and that vendor. Be looking forward to seeing how she works out.

The current SSSDH is more squatty than any I grew outdoors. Could be indoor environment but something seems different. ??? All the outdoor plants were tall & skinny with greater than normal distances between nodes. The regulars at the time, were straight from the OJD cut whereas I get the idea that these fems are a newer version of SSSDH combining an old Shantibaba SSH w/ a SD. If I'm right, that may explain why regs & fems are listed separately at seed bank I buy from. The regs still mention the OJD cut but not the fems...groan. The most memorable thing about those outdoor regulars was the super happy, feel good high. If the new version achieves that, I'm good.

I've been trying to get some Serious AK fems for awhile. Breeder told me they had "technical problems" & hadn't been available for 2+ years. Also said lots of "fakes" out there & told me what seed bank they go through. I missed a small shipment so ended up buying direct. Surprised the Magus Genetics strains were not expensive so added the Warlock too. It's a ultra squatty indica plant that is staying very short w/ dense laterals that all seem to grow uniformly & slowly. So the plant looks like a short stemmed mushroom right now. Been trying everything I know to get it stretching & growing but not so much so far. How did you like it?

Great buds, Bright :thumb:
By the way, this is kind of interesting thing they passed in Cali. What do you think about it?

Why marijuana growers want champagne-like labels for their weed | Society | The Guardian

Cannabis is now viewed & treated as agricultural productin California. All the new growing regulations come from the state agriculture dept. that also has control over things like any regional appellations. Terroir surely applies to weed as much as wine. Thank you for posting the link for everyone.

Just getting caught up after being away for a spell. :nomo:

Your garden is looking great as always and you're killing it with the strain selections my friend. :thumb::welldone:

I really enjoyed reading your Tangilope review. This is one that I've been wondering about for quite sometime. Based on your review this one will certainly move up a few notches on my "next to grow out" list.

Hey Brightlights, I waslooking at some old pic's and found another from same vendor. It was a pretty plant. This was indoor in warmer weather if I rememeber right. But been wrong before about time of year. Plant called Exile;

Tent View at 7 Weeks Flower
Plants are "on time" with breeder flowering times. Trichomes are majority cloudy although bud appearance on most look pretty mature & individual plants are not as strong smelling as earlier. These weren't the smelliest plants individually but man oh man when the tent's been open for work, the whole house gets saturated in sweet cannabis fragrance. As strong smelling as any prior batch. Fading nicely, some leaves look like crap from some nutrient burn all stemming from poor coco pH & some misguided attempts to fix it. Flowers are by contrast pretty decent looking.

More From Last Month's Harvest
Cherry OG
As much as I like Emerald Triangle's Lost Coast OG, this LC OG x Cherry Thai is just as likable. The Cherry Thai was crossed w/ Afghani & bx to Cherry Thai mom to highlight the CT. ET did a great job...this herb jangled up old fading memories of what Thai weed was like. Not as photogenic as some others in this grow, but it won the best fragrance of group & it wasn't even close. Sweet, pungent floral, slightly fruity fragrance that erupts out of jar when opened. It did smell like cherries & strawberries when younger. Many LC characteristics present but noticeably hypnotic & spacey too. Very enjoyable. Solid input from others as well. Will surely give it another go.
IMG_220915.jpg

Cole Train
This was the double 4 node plant that largely got overshadowed by her more showy tent mates. Not much fragrance until end. Plant anomaly produced large amt. of smallish rock hard buds. I always love the high impact high that comes with very fresh buds, but this one didn't show much initially. With some time it got much more interesting. Soft pleasant herbal fragrance A solid relaxing indica with decent power that isn't couch lock or tiring...probably due to TrainWreck side that adds a lasting underlying alertness to an very enjoyable indica high. Won't buy seeds but would grow another freebie if I ever got another one.
IMG_221315.jpg

Sensi Star
My 1st indoor try w/ SS was my best all time. I've had some good outdoor SS's but always thought I could do better. A very large outdoor indica, this indoor version was short, stumpy, & shrimpy like a few other of my indoor indicas. The Brightlight manufacturer has staff botanists & horticulturists who told me it happens w/ some indicas because light has no far red. IDK but the high is so good its size didn't matter. Subtle, sweet, hints of mint & herbs fragrance w/ attractive red, purple, gold coloration. The SS high is as good as it gets for me....always feel good, positive, up lifting, exceptionally cerebral characteristics together w/ potent indica traits. Lot of pleasant thoughts & thinking...not the usual indica. If you've tried it, you know what I mean. No surprise with all her cup wins & awards. A good friend/patient had never ever tried SS & he's been into cannabis close to 50 yrs. Knowing all tastes are different, I wondered how he'd like it. He really loved it & input was SS is one of best strains he's ever smoked.

Thai Stick: Surfers, Scammers, & the Untold Story of the Marijuana Trade by Peter Maguire & Mike Ritter
I recently started this book that is right up my alley. I started surfing in 1962 & weed in 1966 & I really got into both. It is about surfers who got into weed (doh..all surfers did) & how some ended up importing it starting in the 60's. A good read that most here would enjoy.

Thanks for sharing Warlock & Exile pics NCW. Good to hear Warlock was good for ya. I've been interested in her for awhile, & some older genetics are good change of pace to all our modern strains. That Exile of yours was a beauty too.

Tell you what Unc....Tangilope has settled down a bit since cut so I enjoy it more now. Smoother, much less antsy & racy. But if you like sativa dom. hybrids on the edgy side & packing a good donkey kick, you'll enjoy Tangilope. Will look forward to you growing it. Thank you for your kind words too.
