David...not sure if you'll see this post, but I hadn't abandoned nor ended my slow paced journal just yet. If not too late, pls. keep it going for me. I'll post a bit more often. If too late to save, that's ok. Thanks to all friends & followers if this journal has been terminated.
:thanks: :circle-of-love:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

I've moved this journal back to Journals in Progress. To keep this journal from getting moved from Journals in Progress, just keep posting at least once a month. I'm not picking on you specifically, but any journal that has not been active in the last month or so will get moved to either Abandoned or Completed journals. :thanks:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Thanks to David I will keep things going here. Now at 70 years old :surrender: time has a way of easily getting away from me. My trusty house needs some upgrading that has kept me busy. Plus the addition of the 2nd tent has been an adventure....already allowing me to complete 3 grows (23 plants) in 2016. A good time for short break. :tokin: While I only keep small amts. of each strain except for a few select favorites where I keep more, my box of jars has become ridiculous...a study in excess. I know you all understand & probably have the same thing going on. I've told my small cadre of long time patients that they may have to go back to club weed for a spell.

Ghost Train Haze #1
GTH has mellowed a bit with time but still quite potent. It lives up to its hype. I really don't think I've tried it enough to really evaluate it, but it's a likable strain. It had the crazy power I enjoy & look for in freshly harvested herb. It has since mellowed a bit & remains a smooth, potent sativa hybrid. The Trainwreck & Neville's Haze dominate but the all mighty Ghost gives it a real good body punch too. Bud taste & smell are fine but nothing sensational. While still growing it threw out multiple fragrances including caramel & vanilla, which I don't run across often, & clear citrus closer to finish. A large growing & heavy yielding plant with exceptionally fat terminal buds. Pistils were short & "curly", mostly white & pinkish. The distinguishing feature of GTH1 is the high.

SSSDH
I reach for this jar again & again. I used to grow Greenhouse Super Silver Haze for a patient who supplied the seeds, & while it grew some of most mega sized outdoor flowers I seen in a sativa hybrid, it often took forever to finish (Thanksgiving). Plus I never was crazy about its high. Many other preferable hazes for me. But paired with Sour Diesel, it's a sensational strain. For me there's nothing to dislike & plenty to love. This is 1 of my 2 favorite haze crosses (the other is HSO Dedoverde Haze). Grows big, yields well. Lots of SD smell & taste w/ a bit of haze taste & smell too. Sorry for all the love & hype, but if curious give her a try....one of the few I'll endorse & recommend.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

All right thanks David Bowman lol! I miss these smoke reports. SSSDH sounds incredible! Glad I have some of those in my incredibly stupid seed stock. Couldn't grow them all out in a life time but this one is on the short list. Glad to see you updating your thread brother brightlight! :Namaste:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

I've come back to read your last few posts, more than a couple times, so I'm glad this is still here. Although you can still post in completed journals, which I do with aplomb. ;)

Great to read the reviews. I love the energy and power that Haze brings to hybrids. I also love this journal, and the way you grow my friend.
Happy 70, and enjoy whatever breaks you need. Much love from Boston. :Namaste: BOLO for your birthday card.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Hey man. Does GTH get couchlocky later on or indica is just kind of there to mellow things out? I hope mine will turn out like yours, good job :thumb:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Great to see my 420 grower friends still here. Wasn't sure after my absence resulted in David's action. The connection to some incredible growers & 420 friends is valued way more than all the pics of beautiful pot I see here. :Namaste:

Thanks for birthday wishes. I turned 70 back in January so I've had a few months to get used to it. 70 sure sounds older than 69! And my 3 indoor harvests this yr. totaled 17 plants, not 23, which is count of "full" indoor season starting last July to now. See what happens at 70?

I've learned you like the knockout style herb, but you may like the SSSDH. Just so euphoric & happy, which everyone needs at times. Besides, everything you grow is so dang amazing that I selfishly want to see how it turns out in your hands. Grow it brother!:passitleft:

Compliments from a grower of your caliber Carestaker are genuinely appreciated. Thank you. When I visit your journal, I absolutely love it, but at the same time tell myself I need to get my shit together. Haze is indeed a foundation strain. With so many versions & variants, there's trial & error & strain sifting to find that old Haze "essence". The SSSDH & Dedoverde do it for me.

Quick story. Back in early 70's I went to Corralitos (above Soquel in hills near Santa Cruz) often to visit 2 bros. who were "merchandising" loads from Chiapas (Mexico's southernmost state) in their RV. Believe it or not, one was ex-Navy Lt. Commander & younger brother was ex-college cheerleader who had been in Who's Who of College America. The pot revolution swept them in & they turned into early entrepreneurs. Point is they used to talk about a some local grower bros who were growing what was called mostly called sinsemilla or home grown. Growing was rare then. Good chance they knew or knew of the Haze Bros. who were also Corralitos based.

Take all the time you need and happy 70th brights! Always LOVE reading your posts. :thumb:

Thanks AS. About a wk. into a break I don't miss the growing activity yet, but already my mind is thinking about next strains & whether to still do a few outdoor plants with all the disruption of home repair construction going on. Addictive personality is working fine. Thinking about a few promos in smaller pots just to see what the strain is all about. BTW, same thing goes for you as CS....when I see your perfect plants, they're incentive for me to do better.:circle-of-love:

Hey brother. I don't think GTH gets that way. The sativa influences are as strong & pronounced as anything I've recently grown. But you've probably sensed I like my sativas combined with some indica properties. Ghost definitely provides it, but didn't notice any massive slowdown, lethargy. So you have one scheduled for this season?...will look forward to my annual "Italian visit."

Glad this is going. I always love your reports.
70 wow I'm half way there next week.
I always just felt your knowledge was expertness at its finest. Now I know why you old timer.:)
Much respect and love my brother.
happy daze.

Thank you for the sincerely appreciated compliments DK. Yes, I've been hacking & hewing at our hobby for awhile but still learn from some of you talented young guys (& gals). You're surely one....enjoying your breeding projects. Now that you all know my age, it will explain some of my old time ways & stubbornness like going for lots of N fade at end or not bud washing (I do hose off outdoor plants before harvest). :thanks:

Soon I have some auto pics & comments that might be of interest even though you all are mostly photo growers like me. Plus it's about time for some seed & strain talk about what we've all been tempted into buying lately, right?:theband:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Yes! Strain talk! Yes! :cheertwo:

I was searching for SSSDH last week and it's currently sold out? Annoying.

I decided I gotta run me some Sour Diesel. A SSH cross sounds perfect for my tastes. :slide: And I'd like to find a really fruity one too. :hmmm:

Hmm sounds good to me a lot like Trainwreck in fact. Got three plants going but they're all weird. I already had to stake one. I'm just thinking that this strain should be run indoor, too fussy outdoor.

Gray, Cali Connection's version should be all right, and if you don't find it there's NYCD which is very very close to original.

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Hey there Bright....good to have ya back. Conradino...since your around, i got a Q for ya regarding my next grow...i'm gonna do Lilly from Delicatessen (via ACE). Done a bit of reading on it but not too much out there. I chose it for my next run cuz it's a 100% Sat. with very short bloom time of 7-8 weeks and her nickname is Pina Colada, she is so fruity. Have you heard of her at all ...supposed to be from Africa. cheers bud!:Namaste:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Speaking of strain talk, I have 2 HSO trainwrecks in flower at the moment. 2 very different phenos but according to Conrad, one is looking like the original clone.

I decided to bite on the 420 sale and grabbed 5 dinachem fems, 5 HSO Amherst sour diesel fems, and a pack of dynastygenetics huckleberry kush.

I'm also growing 3 of Dusty's cheesecake regs. I also have a CC sour diesel and a dinachem in veg along with the venom og.

That's about it. I've got to make room for the last white fire WiFi beans soon. I'll be searching and cloning for a keeper when I do.

:peace: &

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

They say it's a hybrid but I understand why she should be so quick flowering, it's a mix of Congolese and Madagascan sativas and Original Congo Black is supposed to be the fastest finishing landrace sativas in the world. I actually wanted to get it in pure version but it's not on the market. It sounds to me like a very fascinating cross anyway and they say she responds well to LST and topping and is very fruity... they also say the high is spacey and floating so I can imagine it's gonna give ya a run around the house :lot-o-toke::laughtwo:

Thanks bud, ...your awesome. That's some very good info, thank you sir! I'm gonna do a full grow(four plants again) with her and really don't know what to expect with stretching , growth habits etc. Cheers and have a great afternoon ....we're all gettin ready for our long weekend over here....:thumb:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Well it's gonna be fast veg and explosive flowering, so stay buckled up. In your space I'd start training in late veg, get her like that

If I've done it with Mexican you're gonna make it too :thumb:
