Brightlight's Strain Fest: Organics & LED

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

THAI STICKS
New pictures of old photos from ~1974 or 1975. These were never plentiful but a great treat! Sometimes there were a few seeds, which were always kept & treasured. A great smoke & fantastic high. I loved Thai then & still do!

LOST COAST OG & LA AFFIE
I'm FINALLY finished trimming my summer herb! Emerald Triangle Lost Coast OG (top) & Cali Connection LA Affie (bottom of top photo). Lost Coast close up in the 2nd pic. The Lost Coast was my grower's choice overall best plant. Everyone who tried it loved it. One of the top OG's I've grown, & I've been pretty OG heavy for awhile. Even though listed at 60/40 I/S, it is alert, social, uplifting, functional yet very very stoney. Imo this is truly a top tier strain & would heartily recommend it.

CHEESEDOG
I grew 2 regular seeds of Connoisseur Genetics CheeseDog expecting to get one female. Got lucky & both were females. The best one was planted in my 2nd best in the ground hole. This Exodus Cheese x OG was a phenotype that really took on the sativa side of the Cheese (Skunk #1). Leaves were very thin, very light green for the genetics. The sativa was also very pronounced in the high even with the OG genetics. Don't know anything about Connoisseur's OG's but it supplied a good kick to the overall high. A good one. The heaviest yielder of the summer garden. The other plant was good but not noteworthy.

Congrats Brightlights.

Hahaha, now I know for sure you're an old-timer brightlight. Those sticks were the best smoke! I was never fortunate enough to have a whole heard of them though lol. I bought 4 of them once but they weren't around long here in the PNW. I believe California has and always will be the epicenter of marijuana culture in America. Colorado is certainly second. But CA had always been The place.

Good times brother. :peace::Namaste:

I'd like to take a Thai strain for a spin but I'm gonna have to settle on Vietnam Black x Thai instead for its shorter flowering time.

Lost coat OG is now on my short list. :thanks:

Hey dr. Yeah...I'm probably one of the older geezers here. Hit 69 a couple of wks. ago. Crap that really sounds old. You won't be disappointed with the Lost Coast OG.

I never saw that much Thai Stick in one place. That would have been a 2 year supply for me in late 70s.
Growing up in a California ghetto, what I saw most was Mexican shake. The 'burbs got the good smoke, and paid for it.

That was a great endorsement for Lost Coast OG.

Hi Rad. Since you're an Oakland guy, you probably know the Santa Cruz Mtns. was pot central back then. But everyone had to get by with shake now & then in those days. Growing was very scary so supply was unpredictable & mostly snapped up quickly.

Howdy Brightlight,
Re Post#182: Thank you so for the remembrance. You're an absolute treasure trove of genetix/strain knowledge and lore. Haven't seen stix since NYC-circa late-80s.
Hoping all is well, and thx for dropping by my thread.

Thanks Ranger. Being old means you collect a little info here & there....sometimes I can still remember a little of it. Your journal has been interesting.

Con, that Mekong finished pretty early outside for me. I think I'm a little too far N for landrace sativas.

Subscribed hands down

Welcome FairyFHaroman. Glad to have you!

Long time/no hear, Brother. You ok?

Good of you to check. Thanks. Been very scattered. A little bad news below, but getting by.

That's funny BAR!

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Sorry for low profile of late. Keeping busy but energies seem scattered. All ok except for bad development on left shoulder. Had rotator cuff & bone spur surgery on it 5 years ago. Dr. was POS. Two more surgeries left me with bone on bone heavy arthritis. Worst yet...infection developed. Thought it was eliminated but discovering now that it has gone into the bone. Just got message that they want to do surgery by this Wed!!.

I've been trying to keep up with journals & posting a little. Had planned to post a bit more on recent harvest...harvest day pics, smoke report, bud pics, general & strain info. Will still do but after I get this shoulder fiasco sorted out.

I also started a few seeds a few wks. ago....Reserva Privada Strawberry Banana, DNA Kosher Tangie & LA Chocolat, TH Critical Hog, & HSO Dedoverde Haze. Not the smoothest start so seedlings are a bit small for age. Even had some nutrient deficiencies show up on a couple. Unexpected at such an early age. All squared away now. Had planned to transplant into 2 gal. pots later this wk. Now not sure when due to the impending surgery.

Just to make this somewhat interesting...here are couple of harvest day pics of 86 day old Chem 91. Harvested other earlier at 72 days. An experiment of sorts. Really happy with strain & resulting plants. More on these later.

Busted up Rotator is painful, ewwww bone on bone. :whoa: That can't be fun.

Warm and positive thoughts and vibes coming your way, wishing for a successful surgery and safe return. You totally teased me with the new strains haha, and that Chem is outstanding - but looking forward to catching up when your back and in better health.
Good to see you have your meds all lined up :)
