thanks 420bro...made it thru surgery & 4 day hospital stay ok. serious bone infection from rotator cuff surgery 6 yrs ago now hopefully cleaned out plus a specialized shoulder replacement. ongoing iv antibiotics at home for 6-8 wks to clear out any bacteria still inside bone.

had 1st-hand chance to see how herb works on queasiness/nausea caused by the strong antibiotics. 1st antibiotic dose is upon awakening so now i start w/ a bit of food & a small part of the cookies i made. works every time. already vaping at times for other doses. never doubted but now know from own experience.

for 8 days out from surgery doing way better than expected.:slide:

the strawberry bananas, dedoverde haze, LA chocolate, & critical hog in veg now in that explosive veg stage. can't lift them out of tent so won't be defolling or much of anything. tried some unassisted 1 hand fims that ended up being topped , but all good. a pic or 2 soon.

good to be back:Namaste:

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

a little info for my LED brethren.....:Namaste:

"Some LED manufacturers tout their high photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) values. Their fixtures produce more PAR, they say, and therefore are superior.

Not so. A lighting manufacturer should tell you that you need to ask about the photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD).

PAR is defined by the International Commission on Illumination as the total photon exposure in the 400nm to 700nm waveband range of radiation that is absorbed by photosynthetic pigments. PAR is not a quantitative measure; it's merely a description of the light that plants need for photosynthesis. PPFD, on the other hand, is a quantifiable measure of the total number of photons in the photosynthetically active range of wavelengths that fall on a square meter of a given surface (say, a plant canopy) every second. In other words, PPFD is a measured metric whereas PAR is merely a descriptive term for a range of wavelengths.

A light can churn out all kinds of PAR, which is also noted as the fixture's spectral power distribution, but if that light is being diffused and not reaching the plant canopy in a uniform manner, that PAR is useless to your plants. You need a lighting source that delivers the right PAR using the right optics to get the right amount of PPFD to your plant canopy. And you need to understand the quantity of photons that are hitting your canopy – PPFD."

Sounds like marketing double speak to me.

What do you see as the difference between

"The total number of photons "(400-700nm) "absorbed by photosynthetic pigments."

and

" the total number of photons in the photosynthetically active range of wavelengths that fall on a square meter of a given surface"

??

Hey Rad....your question is over my head. Seems to be stating differences between levels put out & what lands on leaves that is actually used? IDK. Light efficiency....net energy used or wasted? Interesting since sounds good to me to pound my plants w/ MAX. usable light. Maybe others will help illuminate (pun unintended, hahaha).

Brightlight....hows all brotha....found you! Hope all is better than good in your world. Like your journal alot....only got thru the first two pages though. your another lucky one that gets to grow o/s.Excellent. Glad to see you doing it inside.Your G.R. or tent is set up real nice and by the looks of those buds a bunch of pages back you know your stuff!:surf: Have a great night BL. Cheers.

Hi Brightlight,

Super glad you got through surgery without complication Brother. Oh man an at home IV. Back in the day I would have been seeking out some Demerol to spike my antibiotics. Thank God those days are long gone!

Looking forward to seeing your pics when you post them.

I've seen that LED explanation before. I think it was on BLM's website. Seriously I have no idea about the inner workings or science behing LED tech, and I don't really care about it. I just want to grow big weeds. But Dang BL, they DO work! I'll have to see how the current results are when I harvest, but I'm hoping for 0.7 - 1 gram a watt from my LED. The reason I know LEDs are legit is because more and more commercial grows are converting. That's what I look for when speculating new equipment. I believe BML is the #1 manufacturer for commercial grows in the US (but I could be wrong).

Talk to you soon!

Hope all is well in your world.

Thanks for sharing this grow with us.

Please head over to the 420 Strain Reviews forum and post your smoke report there too.

I’m moving this to Completed Journals now.

Have you started a new grow you would like to share with us?

If so, please feel free to start a new journal here: Journals in Progress

You can use the Report Post feature found at the bottom left of every post and we'll move it for you right away.

Sending you lots of love and positive energy.

Hey dr. It's easy to see your BML's are working very well under your guidance! A good friend who is ex-hydro store mgmt. & old time talented grower tells me that the gram/watt goal is what all seek, but anyone who gets 0.5 gram/watt or more is doing very well. Thought you'd like to know but easy to see that your garden is top tier.

Oh, to answer another question from you....I was tempted to go for Serious promo of 2 Happiness, but after looking at my inventory, regained my wits and held back. Neither Attitude nor new Choice had the old 420 type promo that would bowl me over & "force" me to buy. Sure you know what I mean. :biglaugh:

I don't do well with narcotic pain killers so even though they prescribed them for me, I won't take them. Only for 2 days at hospital. Got some odd looks from medical staff when I told them I much prefer home grown herb.:Namaste:

Thanks for dropping by & your kind words duggan. Sorry you're disappointed with taste of your Mazur. They sure look beautiful and glad to hear that potency is there. Taste is great but power rules don't you think?:Namaste:

Yeah I don't mind good taste, but I grow for the effect in 90% :)

re: Brightlight's Strain Fest - Organics & LED

Here are some pictures from current grow that I began prior to my medical adventure. Pictures are at end of 6th week of flower. Being a one armed grower for over 2 months, they never left the tent. Only a single defoliation in late veg that was on the lighter side. A hands off grow that seems to be doing ok.

DNA LA Chocolat
LA Confidential x Chocolope. Early & consistent melon scent, a little purpling.

TH Seeds Critical Hog
Critical Bilbo x The Hog. Nice full indica structure w/ lots of even branching. Started out smelling like rubber, then added strong skunk, recently some fruitiness.

Reserva Privada Strawberry Banana
Serious Seeds Strawberry pheno Bubblegum x Crockett's (Santa Cruz guy!) Banana Kush (Ghost OG x Skunk). Not much smell yet...faint candy, sugary scent. A silver, blue, green plant, which is quite pretty.

DNA Kosher Tangie
A freebie. Tall lanky plant. Faint citrus, lime scent. My 1st Kosher strain. DNA uses Crockett's Tangie.

Nice, small but compact. In my experience too big bud always lacks quality of high. Like the natural fading too, I guess you keep nitrogen levels low :Hookah: :bravo:
