Bluter's Happy Home For Hilarious Hempsters

how ya doing ?

Hempy runs too fast for my ass.
Fun to see it run though.

i definitely got behind the curve on this one. kinda stayed too close to the autos like it light mythology. i'm going back to my shovel it in fast and hard approach.
:meatballs:

I only look at my plants every two or three days now. I have a theory that they hate me and grow better when I'm not around.
As far as they're concerned ,I'm just their bucket whore, the bringer of water.

lol. i don't like playing with them all that much either. i'm sorta corralled in to hempy. i'd almost need a change of address to change the grow style. i'm constantly having to monitor the nutes even on MC.

Sore but flying high right now.
:smokin2:
We need some sort of edibles emoji imo..

Screw that, don't second guess yourself. You know how to run MC.
In my limited autoflower growing experience, they feed just as heavy.

I'm constantly thinking about how my method (Pro Mix) isn't sustainable.
I see the new versions that have fast growing white peat moss, which is sustainable. I wonder how it stacks up?
How much longer until it's readily available?
I've been in the same medium for a few years now and am both dreading and excited for the change.
In my case my grow style shouldn't change much. I can see with your style of growing that it would be harder to move onto something else.

maybe just a brownie :p

i'm always chasing. i mixed a bump in to the next feed already.

i haven't run across it here. they sell a pile of promix though. one of the members here works for a local garden company, i'll have to remember to have a look when i go visit.

i've got 2 kinds stacked in my folks yard. i'm probably using the majority to build some garden beds. i also have to refresh the media in mom's outdoor hydro garden. i'll peel the top and use it the garden beds.

in my case it's what the folks prefer to run in the flower space. it's not entirely my choice. i'm musing about a different living situation though, which would necessitate a change in grow style.

They look to be growing nicely. Are they on 4g a gallon now then? I think I added 0.5g a litre at the beginning and went onto 1g a litre shortly after. Still on that at day 20 and loving it. Getting 0.5ml/L of calmag too. Why didn't you tell me that growing in hempy was fun sooner?;)

after conversion on the latest bump i'm running about 4.25g/gal. haven't fed them that yet. likely tomorrow depending how dry they are. i'm also thinking of running them with some calmag soon as well.

lol. it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

@bluter

I don’t need to grow any more product (still have almost 4 lbs of 2020 Berry Bomb - and I’ve been giving it away!) but you’ve got my hempy itch going again..

Looking real good, brother

i took the last 8 months off or so. there were other things we needed to address. i knew it was coming and squirreled a pile but i don't wanna get desperate, and i wanna let everyone have some time off this summer.

My wife would look for an expiration date on the package and, seeing none, would conclude that since it was 2 years old (2022-2020, yes that's how she does the expiration math) that it should be thrown out and replaced. :laughtwo:

i fed the gals today and gave them some elbow room.

got some lights off pics so you can get an idea of the true colour. they are growing like crazy. i'm sure up pot sometime this wk is happening.

will give each one a pic, from the back ..

that's the tiniest. i haven't labelled them as they are all afghan X blueberry auto. except for maybe one mystery guest. sure hope it runs in the same frame as the other lol :p

pretty happy with @Weed Seeds Express autos in hempy so far.

this would be the second smallest.

everything is a bit washed out cause i need the flash and it really bounces on all the white.

when separating the plants i went looking for my drip trays and discovered nearly all my buckets and trays are at the flower room across town .... will have to sort that in the next couple days. empty sour cream container will be fine for now.

it actually cures in better for up to 2 yrs. you can then store it in "stasis" for an even longer period without it degrading. literally yrs. you keep it much same as cigars or wine, with the same environmental factors.

number three ..

full

no issues on that one.

everyone got the bump in feed today. they were all dry as well. i got a few roots at the drain hole today so i know they are at the little hempy cup res. i'm hitting the 4.25g/gal mark and added a 2ml of 2-0-0 calmag which is a half dose. could be a bit hot but i think they'll take in stride.

this is the largest. it's really pushing the program on the others.

the rust spot on the leaf is an injury. otherwise it's super happy. this is the one that had two curves on the tap and was oriented upside down at first.

and this is the resident problem child.

full

always bloody one. this one pushes the nute schedule. the other runs my timing.
i couldn't get a decent pic without the lights but it is a touch paler than the others. grabbed a lights on shot of the def showing on the leaf.

full

it's a pull from the leaf to build roots and the next stage. not an issue yet. the nute bump and calmag should turn stuff around.

There’s usually one! lol

My 2020 is the best ever! I put it in vacuum seal bags after about a year. It continues to cure, but the terpenes do not dissipate as quickly. The fragrance when I open a new bag! o_O

a little greener today. starting to get some lift in the mornings. up pot some time this wk i think. probably one more feed tomorrow.

Do you uppot once they start drinking the reservoir daily? Or by size of top growth?

bit of both. most times it goes by when i feel ambitious. :cheesygrinsmiley:

these are autos though so i have to be on top of them. they hit sexual maturity by the 5th node and will trigger on any root stress at that point. you wanna move autos before the 6th node in hempy. somewhere about wk 2 - 3.

up pot day. been a bit of a rough one. they weren't in as good a shape as i like coming out of the solos. they've been well ahead of me ramping the nutes and i can't fathom what's going on.

the roots had hit the drain hole and i was at the point they needed fed daily in the cups so i opted for the up pot. hempy up pots are generally easier on the plant so fixing issues after is the correct course.

root at the drain hole

most were a bit less established than i like for up pot in to a 5L.

full

you can see size is alright and colour is mostly good. but there is a calmag def showing and a couple are trying to cannibalize to build the next level. just pouring nutes won't help as the plants are out stripping the res.

full

out they come for transplant day. i'd let them get a touch bigger with photos.

part way through i knew i probably should have opted for the 2L up pot instead. i coulda gone the regular route and done a second to the 5L if i wanted. they would definitely hook up better.

full

there are two issues i need to plan for. 5L can produce a big plant if they go for it, and going from the hempy solo to the 5L puts the roots above the res. this means the roots have to get back to the res before the plant hooks up again, and i'm gonna have trouble keeping them happy til that happens.

everyone moved over with the great big pout on .. :p

full

they are pissy for the first twelve to 24 hours or so after moving.

Were they gripping the perlite well or was it still loose?

mostly loose. i'd have to grow a couple nodes bigger in the solo for it to get decently locked. even then, i'm only looking at 25 - 30%. the majority won't get locked by up pot no matter. it's just the amount that is. the plant moves over a bit better is all.

i went a touch early as the damn things are eating me out of house and home, and i didn't wanna hit the fifth node sexual maturity issue. though i don't really worry about that in hempy or coco.

i notice i'm getting more precipitate in the mc as it get older. it is not dissolving as well. i can counteract it a bit by adding the feed to the RO and letting sit a half day or overnight before feeding. i'm still getting more than i'd like though.

the precipitate is probably mostly undissolved calcium. to counter i've been adding a half dose of calmag. the plants have been showing a calmag pull, followed by general hunger. i'm hoping the larger res and a nute balance will work it out.

plants have picked up already. i'm definitely getting the tops lifting on them all, and the new growth coming in is nice and green.

full

you can see the uppers lifting. i'm running the light at 75 - 80% now. it's a bit of a push, and could account for some of the calmag and nute issue. i'll be maxing the light by the end of the coming week for the rest of veg.

my nutes are too hot for where i want to be in veg as i'm adding the cal mag. i'm ignoring the ec for the moment and just watching the plants. they are telling me they are a bit underfed and to keep an eye for n claw.

full

i'm gonna lose the lowers to attrition, but i strip them out anyway no matter. the new stuff is lookin good and that's all i care right now. there's no nute tipping so i can push a bit.

i'm running a full 8g/gal with a half dose of calmag on top. i can probably play with adding another 1/2g, but they are getting a first feed from up pot tomorrow, and i need to see where that goes.
