journal made it to a hundred pages. time for a celebratory hoot
getting a little work done on the gals today. they shot right up in the last couple days. the floor needed a drastic drop to maintain the 2 ft head room.
i didn't measure but it was well under 18 inches to the top of the taller ones. the shorter ones were hitting about 18.
decided to get to a few house cleaning measures while i was at it.
time to clear out the interior. pretty much anything not reaching the first hoop got stripped out for better air flow, and to reduce the larf at trim time. took out the lowest fans just to make feeding easier too.
the plants structure is fairly open. even though they are hybrids i'm seeing the definite sativa influence. there's a fair distance between nodes. i'd have to check back but i think they were heavier on the sativa side.
i'm pretty sure i'm going to be liking the
@Weed Seeds Express genetics. if anyone's keeping score we've up potted, topped, and done a bit of lazy tomato cage training. all things that are a supposed red zone for most autos. these things are blowing right through it and asking for more.
this is one of the reasons i don't worry about rh.
the ambient rh sits at 22%. my veg room hits over double with the plants transpiring. in flower i'll probably get another 10%. if the rh sits low i just let the plants deal with it. if it starts to peak i just move more air to the outside to bring it down.
this is all part of winter growing season here, and the main reason why the majority of local growers use the 8 months of non-summer as the main indoor grow season.
anyone notice the bonus wild swing in the temp and rh logs ?
we've had the heat go out and a couple things this run. i should zero it and take a 24hr log. ehhh whatever ..
i took a couple individual pics so you could see the structure. this is my smallest plant. haven't been naming these so i call it a plant...
the lazy tomato cage training is a simple top under node 5. you lose node 1, and keep 2/3/4. 2 and three come up the outside, and four comes up the middle. four might get woven to the outside depending how tall the tomato cage is.
i used to do this training method in 8gal soil buckets but i had huge cannabis special type cages. just heavier big ass 4 prong, 4 hoop, tomato cages. i would often wire the second hoop like a scrog and build from there. there's no way i'd have the space for that now.
this is the underside of one all cleaned up
i've been bumping feed by a half gram every feed. i'm getting on to flower levels. everyone is giving me a look but not busting out. i'm gonna reduce the light sched back to 18/6, and might run a 12/12 flower.
they'd probably bust right away, if i moved them to the jungle room, and put them under lightzilla at 12/12. but i was hoping to run the
@NextLight monster for flower. ordered a dimmer two wks ago but it got puckered.
i lost the notice in my sea of email so i gotta re-order. think i'm just gonna go through digi-key or mouser this time. not sure i want these to wait though. bit pissed over it frankly.
i didn't really pull a bunch out of them on the defol.
don't worry about the duct tape. nothing to see here ...
i taped the cages to sides of the buckets to anchor them down.
this is the most ambitious plant. even though i didn't name them i call it doug.
even though it's a female. it's the one that was headed upside down in the hempy cup. it had opened and was headed south. i dug it out and re-oriented it with some toothpicks. hiya doug.
doug shows the exact shape you want in a tomato cage grow. it' s lot like ubt, but with two extra nodes. the plant really grows natural aside from the topping, the cage just encourages the shape and will be a support structure in flower. been wanting to try a tomato cage hempy for a while.
this was doug about 20hrs ago. she's hit the top hoop now.
i'm debating if i should weave her under. might grab a newer pic.
this is what the structure looks like from above.
these plants get super pissy whenever you try and work on them. this is right after the defol.
that's not late day droop. they're just super pissed off at me.
i dropped the floor so low i had to rearrange crap and move them in and out a few times too.. they stank up so hard in protest i was laughing. had to open a window even though it's about 7c here. wasn't too bad. but i moved my space heater to the back and might have to pull everyone out to adjust. all good for the present.
here we are today. all perked up a bit.
doug's in the middle. right now i'm not seeing an ask or nute tip or anything. these things are pretty stout. it's not all me for sure.
canopy could be a touch more even. i've got doug and a second one really going for it. the other three are all about the same. it's alright though. we can always work with it.
from the top.
you can see doug touching the hoop and where i had to move the heater. note the black electrical on the heater light. cheap way to block a light. the heater normally lives underneath the plants but i had to drop the floor too low.
