Bluter's Happy Home For Hilarious Hempsters

Wow - 8 grams! o_O

If they are underfed, they are going to be monsters! :meatballs:

sorry its a miscalculation. it got doubled.

should be a smidge over 4g/gal as i'm working in metric. i'm also adding a 1/2 dose of calmag on as well. so it's a hotter mix than where i usually sit at this time, but the plants have more ask than i am used to seeing at this point.

i shoot for under 6g/gal by end of flower. i'm probably gonna run a max of 5.5 with some calmag and bud explosion in flower.

some morning hempys

they've got good lift and have turned the corner from pouting over the up pot. the ones at the front are eating the first two stages building roots still.

full

that's the worst. it won't stop now so i'm letting it go. it's trying to get roots to the res and is eating itself to accomplish that and build the next node.

my nutes should be strong enough going forward that it won't resort to self harm anymore. but i'm keeping an eye on that and the other. the second one took a piss in the middle of the night.

full

that came out 24 hrs after feeding and draining. kind of like me in the middle of the night now.

To what do you attribute that? Seems odd that there would be a delayed release of excess nutes, no?
not excess. the nutes are about where i want them. it won't cause any harm

Funny

but weird

not really.

perlite plugged the hole maybe. i've seen the plant 'hold' water for a bit when it's locked the media more, then let it go later. happens all the time actually.

i use a plug when i feed. it literally creates a hole that intrudes in to the root zone over time. it'll get rock solid.

the others are doing busters. no nute tipping. a bit droopy but the new stuff is running a hard lift.

full

that's the droopiest. it's showing the most indica lean too. kinda telling that the 2 most sativa plants are the hungriest. i find this is the case with most hybrid phenos.

i'm planning 8.5g in 8L with 12ml of calmag on the next feed. this should pull my n back just a touch. i might go down to 8ml which is a 1/4 dose. i've started premixing the nutes and i'm getting better dissolution, which would mean better cal mag uptake from the base nute.

this one shows the early calmag ask

full

that's where it started on the others. it has arrested here though on this one. pretty sure the others have turned the corner as well. watching to see if this gets deeper.

Ah okay
I poke the perlite inside the hole if I don’t see a strong stream - no plugging allowed.

i do a flood and drain style feed. i've found it way more effective than a straight pour. it's a bit of a pain, but the results are fantastic for such a simple change.

edit : the nutes are so cheap i can't justify not going that route as well. plus they are suited to this approach.

hempys autos have been on the grow

full

they've been well ahead of my feed schedule. by the next feeding i'll be maxed for the veg schedule. i'm running a 1/4 dose of calmag as well. that's back from a 1/2 dose. i upped the feed and dropped the calmag for a better nute balance.

they all seemed to like the changes.

full

of course we couldn't leave them alone.

full

so everyone got topped and cleaned up a bit. kept nodes 2, 3, and 4. there should be enough root mass now to let them rebound and take over.

made some adjustments in the veg room and test fitted a cage.

full

first time i've tried this with an auto in any media. i've used cages with photos before.

it's kind a low stress ubt style. the bottom 2 nodes will feed under the lower rung, the top node goes over the lower rung and under the upper, as long as everyone makes it that far. the cage is just a support structure, the plant grows mostly natural with minor defol from here forward.

if everything works out the plants will finish about the same height as the cage or just under. anyone giving odds ? :cheesygrinsmiley:

popped the rest of the cages on to see if i could space everything in the veg room.

full

note the fan in the background laying face down on a pile of crap.
i had to tear stuff half apart and go back in to rescue it lol .. :p

left the cages on for now. they're useless at the moment, but it might give them something to shoot for.

I'll call my bookie and see what the action is.

odds are good i'll fuck up the fan again. it was running the whole time. :cheesygrinsmiley:

i'm not so sure how far the plants are going. i've done this stuff in a 5gal hp promix grow lots of times with photos. i've never done it with autos or in hempy lol.

edit : i was gonna use the small 2L buckets and cut the cages down but i couldn't make it work. so i left the cages higher and used the 5L.

here's the morning hempys today

full

everyone rebounded from the topping and clean up. i dropped the floor and started getting a bit better stretch out of them. a couple opened right up.

full

getting decent lift finally. there's a bit better stretch happening on the branches now too that they're not putting everything towards the top.

full

was gonna pull the cages off this morning but they're not bothering anything so i'll probably just leave them. they actually make the plants super easy to lift and move around. i was expecting the cages to make it harder, bit of a happy surprise.

three of my plants are showing shorter pheno traits.

full

we'll see if they work to catch up. the structure and leaf profile is pretty similar on all of them. the distance between nodes seems to be the only difference.

full

that's my shortest. colour looks decent on all of them.

just getting a hint of nute tipping on on a couple now. i'm topped out on my veg mix by the next feeding. i might have to pull back just a touch, i'm headed a bit heavy on n, so i'm watching for claw. they're ok now but it will accumulate, i better be careful.

it should be a matter of keeping nutes balanced and hopefully putting them on cruise through veg now. i'm running the light flat out now.

And you were worried that they would lag in the 5L!

Looking good, bluter!

thanks.

i'm pretty sure they've reached down to the res. i was not expecting that so soon from up pot coming out of a hempy cup in to a 5L. my 2L up pots are super easy. they are literally at the res coming out of the cups in to the 2L. they don't go through any shock or pout at all in a 2L. i was expecting a bit more drama with the 5L.

couple quick morning hempy shots.

everyone looking good today. we're in a seasonal melt cycle so my rh has improved with both that and the transpiration from the larger plants. we have 38% at 23c in the grow space which is near double my rh from last wk. much improved.

branches and stalks are starting to thicken a bit too.

might be able to benefit from a little Si. i've held off using it with this nute as some is provided, and i'd wind up chasing the balance. i've solved the precipitate issue with the nute by simply premixing. i've noted it takes over 24hrs for it all to dissolve though. which means daily feedings may not be getting the full nute benefit.

i've premixed my final veg nute bump in to the next feeding already. feeding day was scheduled for today, last feed was 3 days ago, but after checking the weight i could probably go another day with no worries. i'm really liking the 5L bucket size for reduced number of feedings.

They've really taken well to the upbucket...love those solid trunks

it could be an auto trait. more likely they just got more foot room in the 5L.
