Bluter's Happy Home For Hilarious Hempsters

feeding day again

full

getting closer to flip. the majority have reached the first hoop. probably move them in another week to 10 days, i might veg them for a wk or so in the flower room before flip. will have to see how quickly they grow.

the plants are starting to take the shape i'm looking for.

full

a few of them have started to open up a little. not everyone is developing the structure i was looking for though. this gelato is all over the map.

full

this acapulco gold is just a bush.

full

i debated going in for a minor defol today. this one could use it and i have a couple others with branches i'd like to have seen develop better, a defol could get stuff out of the way. in the end i decided i'd let them go til at least the next feed.

the other gelato is not very symmetric either.

full

it's not as pronounced as the other, but it also alternates a weak side at each node. seems to be a trait carried over across differing phenos.

two of the acapulco gold have the structure i like on a cage grow, so that means the majority kinda don't lol.

full

that one is pretty decent. i'm looking at a minor defol at next feed, and i'll need to raise the light by then. i'm guessing i'm 2 - 3 feeds from moving them to the flower room.

They're looking nice & healthy, Brother! :welldone:

Usually, the Acapulco Gold is Sativa or Sativa Dominant and the leaves on yours look pretty "Indica-ish". Where did you get the seeds from?

i noticed as well. the two with the greatest stretch look to lean indica on the leaf, and the one showing an indica structure has leaves showing a sativa lean. everything on this run is from weedseeds express.

Yeah, there is some Indica in there, like 20% (I think Barney's Farm version is 30%) which is how they get the shorter flowering times. It'll be interesting to see how it smokes!

i'm sure it's the breeders they are working with as the acapulco gold is the same.

Yeah...It might be that no one really knows what the original parents were of Acapulco Gold and, unless someone had some of the original seeds, or even better, an original clone, those genetics were probably lost and now different breeders are trying to re-create those same phenotypes using different mixes of different genetics and selling as "Acapulco Gold". It's tough to tell these days, especially when it comes to those old-school, coveted genetics.

Yeah, I have seeds of Northern Lights 5, but it's hard to imagine it's the original version.

check with BC seed banks. northern lights and skunk was the root of 90's BC growing and they still harbour the originals out there.

it was the basis for most of my alberta grows in the 90's along with christmas bud. we always got the genetics from trusted BC suppliers.

The breeder says a mix of Northern Lights, Thai, Grapefruit and Hawaiian "in its own secret combination."

can he be trusted ?

i do know either original or very close genetics are available. try bc bud depot. the reg seeds are going to be more solid. if you talk to the breeder they will usually recommend reg over femmed for those strains.

edit : be forewarned that thai carries a hermie trait. sometimes made worse through the breeding process.

holy crap these things are surging ... :p

i definitely need to move them to flower this wk. the gelato are going to be absolute monsters. the side branching on the things are thicker than the main trunks on a couple acapulco. you can see one at the very front and the other making its presence known in the back corner.

i'm just kinda waiting for the shorter acapulco in the center to catch up a bit, but i can't hold the others for it. i'm gonna start the lollipop this wk before i move them.

You got any updates on that sweet little neat grow in Solos from before?

🤣

That punch/jump stage is now when I feel like I can relax and breathe. Look beautiful mate.

these were up potted from solos. the last one i ran through flower was sometime last year.

oops ...

full

things were a bit out of control today. a quick lift check confirmed i have to shorten up my feeding intervals. i better get ready to flip.

everyone got fed and i took out some fans and branching on the bottom. my gelatos have monster branches.

full

that's the weird one. the other is just as aggressive.

full

it's got one branch a bit underdeveloped, but the structure is much more what i'm shooting for. the interior of this acapulco gold shows how much i defol in veg.

full

i'll keep the lower fans til after flip, at the 2 week defol i'll lose everything under the first hoop. that will concentrate bud formation on the top 2/3s, and help at harvest by reducing larf. i may take a bit more out of the interior higher up for air circulation if it bushes in, but most of them are fairly open already.
