I do not and I don’t agree with your assertion. Especially with autos. And I’d love to discuss with you but don’t have time right now for more than a quick check in. I’ll get back to you though.

Hey @Mayne, thanks again and let’s talk about this. It’s way interesting and frankly potentially consequential. I’ll offer you three pieces of anecdotal evidence to the contrary of your assertion for now.
1. If anything over 800 is redundant, why doesn’t anyone do it the way you described? I know many a Yoda here and beyond, as do you. Not one person I know would agree. And none operate at 800 max, at least none I know. I’m personally at 800 with autos by week three of veg. My plants and auto history speak for themselves. Anecdotal for sure. But when every good grower I and you know (obviously I’m assuming who you know, no offense) would not choose that option there’s likely a reason for the consensus.
2. Did someone turn down the sun and I missed the memo? Or is growing outdoors a complete waste of time? I’m confused because there’s not a single pot plant on this planet growing naturally that maximizes out at 800 and ignores the rest. If that were so they’d ignore 90% of what they get since they get to 800 by mid morning almost anywhere. My mid day reading here is 2000+ on a clear day.
3. Ruderalis grows naturally in lots of places where they get 20 or more hours of light for their whole light cycle. The plant has adapted to that over millions of years. When you combine that with a photo parent and make an auto, the auto keeps that trait. It’s what defines an auto. Part of that definition means any light “rule” that may or may not apply to photos is out the window. They are genetically predisposed to desire more light.

I do run Co2 but even when I don’t ai’ll still be >1000 all over from before flip.

I know the question is not directed at me so sorry back about that, but FYI I smoke about 1g per day in a couple of bullets or water pipe late in the day, never in company - I consider it my mental ashram

Awesome question @Sparkey224! I smoke constantly from wake up coffee and sativas to bedtime indica bonghits. I do periodic kief toppers too. That’s my pain management and it becomes pretty much a lifestyle, yes?
About a half gram a day max. More likely 0.3 - 0.6 A vape bowl is about 0.3 and normally a couple late evening before bed.My bad fellas for the interruption, carry on! Just had a moment..

Here’s a peek at the plants, the upstairs and what I still have available for the stretch and flower, which we are on the cusp of. Here comes the hard part. Up to now this is cake. But I didn’t quite expect so many of these to get as big as they are in veg. Thought I’d have more space pre stretch, but nope. My girls know it’s beat Nick Hardy’s ass time and they are all just pouring it on. I’ve grown a ton of autos and this is about the most vigorous grow I’ve had yet. None of these plants has any business being this big and well developed on day 28, it’s ridiculous and I can’t explain it. But here we are.
Last picture is my superstar Bruce Banner #3 dead center in a ten if coco on week five of Remo veg.

Hi @Mayne - so I spent an hour on research regarding the 800 thing last night, and I couldn’t find anything that approached adequately addressing the question. So I’m left with others experiences and anecdotal evidence. If you feel like it, could you talk about why or where you got info from that anything over 800 is redundant?

morning Jon my last grow my plants did not like anything past 800 PPFD & trird 850 yesterday & they didn't respond well i think Bugaby or that debacco put out a vid on you tube about it, i'm still trying how to figure out how you & some others get past 800 PPFD

They all had Yankees, Nicks, Rangers season tickets. Basically why its Red Sox for me. He was away a lot while I was a kid having a ball it seemed like going to all these sports things but he asked all these guys banging on about the Yankees who they didn’t like and they said well Boston but they’re shit anyway. Being a contrarian bastard at times he immediately declared his affection for them and started bringing me back jerseys, bats and gloves.Probably why my Dad wanted to do it. I’ve seen both. There’s one of their joint videos where they’re so high. Bruce is generally excellent. They’re all reasonably old videos now and they're very conservative with everything, Bruce’s EC/PPM stuff from the earlier ones is like 1.0 and 800ppm max or something. But as lights have changed, Shane banging on about cobs is funny, even when they’re 3 generations old he still mentions them, his first lights probably! But as nutrients improved and the understanding of the RGB and adjuncts improved, the understanding plant nutrition improved pushing all of the triangle with side bits on the whiteboard type stuff improve and allow that higher PPFD. The proximity to matching the sun’s colour with the wavelengths and spacing/focus improved.
I think 1300 is the new 800. But then I’ve seen some commercial guys run 2000+ which seems insane to even me. That said my 1000w HPS DE in a 4x4 read >3000 on the photone app
