What do the phosphates do? I know some organic vintners boast zero phosphates in their wines.Additional information:
Today I fill the res on the Gorilla Cookies. We have three days left of Cyco week 3. It’ll take a few days for the poking through roots to legit get into the water, so given those factors I will water up top for three more days of week 3 while filling the res with week 4.
The extra scary one time Cyco nute application of the Grow XL is listed for week 3. However, just to be safe, I decided to put that off til the start of week 4 and allow the plants to be bigger before dumping in a 40% phosphate solution. This will also dramatically lower ph temporarily and Cyco hips you to the need to watch that. In theory, based on me researching this on several sites for hours, it’s going to make the plants stretch like crazy for a short time. That seemed to be the consensus I found among growers who have used it. Still, it’s scary as shit cuz these plants are so sweet I almost decided to blow it off entirely. Then I started hearing “no guts no glory” in my head. Heh.
Yep, cold wet coco caught me out in January too, ditched 5 out of 6 plantsWell I figured it out. And there’s not a goddamn thing I can do about it.
When I prepped the coco pots, I did so from new bags. However, a couple of the boxes had gotten rained on enough that the coco inside the bag was wet when I opened it. I didn’t think about it. I was about to wet it anyway. It’s rainwater. So I did as I usually do.
I have 13 active plants at this moment - the 9 in the contest and four others. Some are in coco that was dry out of the bag and some are in coco that was wet in the bag.
Every plant that is in the wet coco has issues. Nothing major. But weirdly curling leaves from nowhere. Odd looking yellowing like on the Trizkit. I was looking at plant by plant. When I finally saw the pattern it became clear.
I’m gonna go ahead and put it permanently in my head: do not use wet coco from a new bag. Something changed. Fortunately I don’t have to figure it out and don’t give a shit to. Just don’t fricking use wet coco out of the bag. Better yet, don’t be so goddamn lazy that you let it sit in a compromised spot. It sure wasn’t wet as shipped, that fuck up is all my honor.
Imma chalk that up to something good to know, and use it as my motivation to get my damn mojo back. Cuz that pisses me off. I’m good pissed off. Fortunately it appears as nodes emerge that it’s going away as we get higher. Another node or two and we will be past it it appears. And only the Trizkit seems slightly compromised in size. We’ll make it up. She almost coming out all green now.
I do wonder why water in a bag of coco would create an issue. Seems odd.

Hiya Roy - you feeling better?Yep, cold wet coco caught me out in January too, ditched 5 out of 6 plants
On the mend mateHiya Roy - you feeling better?
Wet coco, you as well, eh?
I wonder, we had two plants basically fall in half in our flower room about a week into flower after up pot (we generally up pot and flip the same day. Some times we get some wet coco, typically a 10L bag is left over from say potting solos and it hangs around in the corner where the rain and get.
Those dead ones were never really explained away I was away for the second one I think. I’ll check back on what I wrote at the time. Certain I didn’t associate it with wet coco though.
Ha! Well, to be honest, I am not qualified to answer that question in any meaningful way. But practically everyone else I hang with could. One person here said it’s the equivalent of dumping PH Down in your plant. But I really don’t know. Most people have more sense than me and would have that answer before trying it. I’m dumb that way - I trust good growers and I read enough about it from good growers using it that I expect it to make the plant stretch. But I couldn’t tell you scientifically why - never studied it. Sorry. What do the phosphates do? I know some organic vintners boast zero phosphates in their wines.
Hard to put a number on it with the nutes you're running without doing calculations, but it's mixed with water like the rest of the nutes. Thanks Shed - how does one apply Epsom salts and what’s a “touch?”
Oh I was sure that was going to be a link to Hard Quiz!Doing it Hard i see
0.5g per gallon of water for Epsom Salt, that's a touch! 13ppm Mg and 17ppm S per gallon added.Hard to put a number on it with the nutes you're running without doing calculations, but it's mixed with water like the rest of the nutes.

I'm sure that's me! The best thing is to read the listed ingredients and safety spec sheets to really learn about the different products and their potential use. When the products mentioned contain the same main minerals and composition they're indifferent in their use.Ha! Well, to be honest, I am not qualified to answer that question in any meaningful way. I see his grow and mine looks so mundane.Day #20
jon reckons 2-3 weeks until his will start flipping. I’m aiming for the same. Might be able to sooner - I’m targeting 50cm - 30” when I flip. Topping is probably 10 days away, a week at least. Though gas in the tank and hit bright CMH light lets see.

Are you mad? Your plants look way bigger than mine. I’m having a mild panicI see his grow and mine looks so mundane.
