Autos v. Photos - A 5x5 No Rules Fight for Yield: A Jon & NickHardy Gig

First @NickHardy, thank you, you’re the fricking man. And what you said is true. Except you were being nice. Basically mom got kicked out of the rehab for being a shitty patient and is now home way too soon. That creates a situation I don’t wish on anyone. So thanks Nick and yeah, I’ll do my best but I’m short on time and focus. Doing my best.

Here’s the three rows, front to back, as we stand this moment. Res in engaged on the Apple Fritter, not yet on the Gorilla Cookies. All is proceeding as the veg plan goes save the goddamn Trizkit. Still working on her. Getting better but slowly.

Well I figured it out. And there’s not a goddamn thing I can do about it.

When I prepped the coco pots, I did so from new bags. However, a couple of the boxes had gotten rained on enough that the coco inside the bag was wet when I opened it. I didn’t think about it. I was about to wet it anyway. It’s rainwater. So I did as I usually do.

I have 13 active plants at this moment - the 9 in the contest and four others. Some are in coco that was dry out of the bag and some are in coco that was wet in the bag.

Every plant that is in the wet coco has issues. Nothing major. But weirdly curling leaves from nowhere. Odd looking yellowing like on the Trizkit. I was looking at plant by plant. When I finally saw the pattern it became clear.

I’m gonna go ahead and put it permanently in my head: do not use wet coco from a new bag. Something changed. Fortunately I don’t have to figure it out and don’t give a shit to. Just don’t fricking use wet coco out of the bag. Better yet, don’t be so goddamn lazy that you let it sit in a compromised spot. It sure wasn’t wet as shipped, that fuck up is all my honor.

Imma chalk that up to something good to know, and use it as my motivation to get my damn mojo back. Cuz that pisses me off. I’m good pissed off. Fortunately it appears as nodes emerge that it’s going away as we get higher. Another node or two and we will be past it it appears. And only the Trizkit seems slightly compromised in size. We’ll make it up. She almost coming out all green now.

I do wonder why water in a bag of coco would create an issue. Seems odd.

Wishing you all the best with everything Jon :Namaste:

Don't you soak and rinse coco before you use it anyway?
I think that’s the bricks and other treated stuff ?

Ours isn’t compressed at all, its a bit fancy as buffered and added myco and perlite. No need to soak or rinse. Its lovely and velvet soft (apart from the perlite). If its not buffered I reckon the Ph might have been too high to start.

I started doing a list of stuff all from Amazon to do an irrigation setup like we have.

There you go - that's a very basic guide with Amazon links for required items - how to setup irrigation in your tent or other grow space. Its actually really easy, you could probably ditch the pump and use gravity as well but not as fun.

I figure it almost got moldy or such, you used it just in time. I use Canna or CocoLoco, as I mix the 2 with Dyno-myco. The Coco Loco has myco in it already. I work great "Pissed" Listen: I go from one hell to another, from hell to hell, son of a bit$#, holy god! Frick! See? SSgrower

I never get angry. Never.

I skip that stage. I get furious. A ball of burning fury. But a results getting one!

EDIT - to clarify 😅 It takes a lot to get me there and I’m not shouty 🤣

Good morning Jon. :ciao:
Your problem confuses me.:Namaste:
Rain water should have zero negative effects on your girls.
We're the bags ripped?
Is it possible something other than rain water came in contact with the coco.
I've grown coco outside before, in the pouring rain usually.
Didn't adversely effect the coco.
Something must have happened while the bags were compromised.
What brand is it?
Take care.
Talk soon.

I was thinking the rain water is probably close on Ph 7.0. If the coco arrives down at 6.0 before its fully charged with nutes the Ph the medium could be a bit high?

What’s the roof made of as well? If its run off from that it could also bring unwanted stuff in.

If the coir has been laying outside in the elements with added moisture anything could possibly happen. Water and carbon is the catalysts for any bacteria or fungal growth.

What I do if it's been laying for a long time is first do a bleach bath(5ppm) and later re-buffer with full strength Ca/Mg solution for 24-48h.

Cheers!

I never took into account a lengthy period of time to grow unwanted bacteria in the bag. :Namaste:
Great point. :thumb:
Thanks.

Sparkey came. The ballast and the bulb on the 315CMH were kaput. The bulb wasn’t more than 50% before now its 100% working and after an hour? The first praying of the grow.

Have some catching up to do, Jon’s all look a node or two ahead of these.

Sparkey left at 11pm. Legend.

Lol. Really? Do you? I rinse perlite. I use high end Mother Earth coco and perlite that’s triple washed and ultra buffered. I can’t and have never seen a single reason to rinse it.

I use the best. Mother Earth. Triple washed and ultra buffered. If Shed is washing that type product he’s the only one I know doing so.

I didn't know if you used bricks of coco so I asked. :sorry:
I was just confused not responding with wtf. Just surprising. When NH said the bricks I realized you must have been talking about those. I’m way too lazy for that shit..
