Ase's Perpetual Fun With Coco

The flowering girls are looking great. Lost Coast is showing size doesn't matter!

Thanks for the veg guide. Really interesting that you twist. My thought was that twisting would reduce the plant's ability to grow, but obviously you haven't found this to be the case.

In the plants I just harvested, I left some of those outside nodes and almost always hated the outcome. So in my round 3 veg girls, I've just been taking them off rather than wasting time and energy on them.

Yeah it's really not much of a twist, just enough to make both nodes even instead of on top of each other. If any of them don't end up close to even I will be getting rid of them as well. The goal is hopefully to not have to get rid of anything though!

Flower Day 45 - Veg Day 35

First I wanted to say thank you to Mars Hydro. This is the 2nd Epistar 160 I have now from contests and since I have two I decided to change my tent over to these instead of the reflector 96s. I like to keep things symmetrical so I waited until I had a 2nd one. These are really bright and you can tell they have more power. It's harder to see in pictures but in person you can see a much better "white" light from these. I will be running each tent as it's own grow now instead of veg tent and flower tent, at least until I decide to go with 3 tents and run one veg and two flower. That is ideal but I've shied away as it just adds more work and I don't necessarily need a 3rd tent for any reason.

I was actually a bit excited because I just realized that I hit another small veg goal. That goal was to be done training with a week left to just let them grow. A whole week of no stress before the flip. Of course I will still pull a little here and there but for the most part every plant is done being trained. It took less then a week as well because I started actual training on Day 30. I will likely guide the 4 main branches just a bit but for the most part I just want everything to grow vertical now. I should have 20 solid budsights on each plant. With the twisting no node looks behind and they will all work out. A little bit of training before lights out tonight and the waiting game begins to see if I think they will be ready in 7 days to flip.

All the girls trained up. They are all at about the same nodes. The Ice is showing it's more indica side and staying more compact but it's amount of nodes is the same. Pretty happy with them.

Cindy 99. You can see that I am down to just one training wire. I had two on them before to hold the plants in place. Where the wires is at is where they will stay until the plants have fully stretched. This is just before the 3rd pair of nodes on each plant. I will do a little adjusting here and there on these to make sure they stay at the base of the 3rd node as it grows.

Flower tent is looking frosty. Feeding twice a day and sticking to the schedule. Gets boring about now in there due to it being a little hard to tell they are fattening but about 3 weeks left and still white hairs everywhere! I am really excited about that.

Man Ase I love the training you do. Maybe someday.

You'll be there in no time! Really, it's a way for me to grow plants fast and get a lot of the same effects from mainling or fluxing. I remember thinking there had to be a way to get plants to look that way but not take that amount of time. The biggest thing is knowing when to do it to not stunt the plants too much. I really feel like I nailed it this time. Keeping my fingers crossed that the next few days will continue without missing a beat while getting some nice even budsights.

Awesome awesome . I made my training notes for the new girls! All caught up Ase. thanks for sharing ✌️

Just be gentle and don't be very hard on them! Slow and steady pressure when tying things down so you don't snap or break anything. It definitely takes a little getting used to. Excited to see how your new babies do. I think you are going to be shocked at the difference this time.

I watched a video where a guy allowed his plants to grow untouched until they were a out 3' tall then very gently bent them over and put a scrog over them. Only took a short period for laterals to turn up and take off. It was fast and simple.

Just popping in saw those beautiful budz on the timeline and couldn't resist.
These look awesome! Those Trichomes dont give a shit about "maximum capacity"..lol I can barely see the leaves. Blizzard in the tent..
Questions.
1.How many nodes until you top?
2.how tall are you girls in flower; from pot to top?

Been thinking about doing a throwback grow and putting up a scrog net for a cycle. I was all about scrogging when I first started growing. Sounds like a good, easy method with minimal stress.

Hey Ase I'm subbing up to check out this training method you mentioned over in swagg journal gimme a minute to catch up :)

Thank you! The blizzard will hopefully continue to get frostier over the next few weeks.

1. I top at the 4th node. I take away all the growth below the 3rd node and top at the 4th. It gives me the 4 main branches and doesn't waste energy on anything else. Guiding energy in the plant is something I believe in.

2. My pots are 10 inches tall. My Purple Kush from the top of the pot to the top of the plant is 38" tall (48" tall with the pot). My Purple Envy is more like 30". Lost Coast OG is only about 20" and so I have it sitting on a plastic pot to get it closer to the lights.

I scrogged early on but found topping and super cropping if done right can produce almost as well.

Ditto. But it's a great thing to try when starting out as super cropping and training is a little intimidating with little experience. I want to do a monster scrog now that I have experience. Just for how nice it would look having one cola in every square and just a sea of even bud.

Welcome TMD. Glad you made the journey my way!

If you are on the website I think it's page 40 (app its page 20) where I revamped my schedules and things. You could start there if you really want to learn the whole way I do things and ignore the first part. A lot of it is repetitive with just some minor tweaking. I do little detailed posts throughout on random topics though so some good nuggets of information throughout the whole thing. Any questions ask away!

Ase, when you say throwback grow, what do you mean? Throwback to old methods, or throwback to old strains? I've been thinking about running some Seedsman freebies of White Widow, Jack Herer and Blueberry as a "classics" grow. But I want to run one of my Liberty Haze freebies soon too and it doesn't fit the theme.

It's in reference to my first coco grow. I did a scrog with Ayahuasca Purple, Purple Trainwreck, White Rhino and Chemdawg. If I did a scrog again I'd likely only do two plants and I think I'd run the Ayahuasca Purple with the White Rhino. White Rhino under a scrog was my first plant of the month win too. Also have been thinking about maybe even just doing one plant in a tent instead of two and doing it in a 5-7 gallon pot. I usually buy 2 of every seed so I can regrow it again if I want so I can regrow most of what I've grown so far. Other than growing 5 Aurora Indica seeds for my first grow, I've yet to pop a duplicate seed of a strain.

Flower Day 49 - Veg Day 38

The veg tent seems to be going along smoothly and they will be ready to flip in 4 days. With how fast they keep growing I am excited to see what they will look like on day 42. They are all still pretty even and should start spacing themselves out as they evenly grow vertical. If all goes to plan they should be perfect for flipping.

The Flower tent should have 2-3 weeks left. I'm thinking the Purple Kush will push that 3 week mark but we will see. There are no ambers hairs on the buds at all. Everything still just looks so white.

Purple Envy and Lost coast OG. They are the sparkly ones in the tent. Both have good frost but that Purple Envy looks on point.

Purple Kush is starting to use some of the nutrients from the big fan leaves and older leaves. These are the fattest colas I have ever grown for sure.
