Another Tabletop Crop: Carmen's Spring Grow With Vipar Spectra XS 1500 Pro

🤙 I’m out
Thank you very much for your thoughts and advice. I hope that the raising of the lights is going to help my cause!
Really I think there is an excess of over thinking going on here. It’s really not complicated. The closer the lights the tighter the node spacing. DLI is a measure of the useable photons over the lights on period. Anything over the Max DLI is sunburned waste of electricity
I think the loadshedding makes it more complicated as the lights go out at random times of the day for between two and four hours at a time, depending on the "stage" of loadshedding. Loadshedding is the term used to describe scheduled power outages that occur daily, multiple times per day depending on the "stage", which is based on how much electricity is available to the grid at any given time.

Good afternoon @Carmen Ray

I hope you are having a pleasant day.
Your girls look like they are coming along nicely.

Be safe, and grow well my friend,
Tok..

edit: never hit post and now it the next day where you are at.
Hey Tok :) Good to see you and thank you for hitting post today! It's nearly half past one in the darkness of night. I fell asleep early and now I am awake. I hope you are having a great day too.

Here's a write-up I did on DLI, which you can calculate if you know the light temperature of your lights (since it changes based on ºK). The linked post has a calculator for figuring it out.

You would have to compensate for the missing hours in the calculator by changing it from 20 to whatever it got that day.
Thank you this is a great help. The current DLI is 43.20.

DLI is the best measure of light. So many LED light fixtures lately are too intense.

Thank you very much, both! I found this easy to read chart on a Photone blog. There is also this article on lighting specifically for autoflowers.

Mornin'

Here are the plants with some bits of pipe cleaner training the tiny, fragile little branches outwards. It is interesting for me to compare the two plants. RR1 is strong and reaching for the light. RR2 is weaker and is already showing preflower, whilst RR1 is not. They are treated identically.

Happy hump day!

Highya Carmen,

Ladies look green and very happy. 2 plants, same strain, very different growth charactaristics. Seems to be what canna seeds are being offered now. We have to be on our toes to get these ladies harvested with a nice stash!! We just never know. Love the pipe cleaner training!! Happy Smokin'
