The best thing to do.....Keep it up. Going great so far, but like X said, it's for you too, you don't have to keep such good notes if you put them here, pics too.

Hope your AC is big enough for all them tents, I thought you were having temp issues with only one tent.....

I get asked to check out people's journals this way sometimes, and people like to help. It's always good to have good growers and advice in your journal - it will attract others as well.
  • Do you feel like you have a talent or skill that others could benefit from as it relates to growing? Post it in your journal - it will come up in people's searches and bring them by your journal. For example, I think I'm going to put a copy of this reply post and topic in my journal in case it helps someone else, too. ;)
  • Finally, be patient and write your journal to help yourself next time. It will help you down the road if you have good notes and pics in your journal, so value yourself as the most important audience member. It takes time for people to get to know you and find you. Remember the hidden audience too - a lot more people follow then participate, sometimes they come out of the woodwork only once they feel they have something to say. It will come! :)

For what it's worth I think you are doing great and the journal is going well. Keep getting yourself out there, and you'll get more participating. Things looking good in the grow room, too!

Thank you X once again for helpful advice. By my own admission I jump around a bit more then I should. I should also participate more on other journals instead of just reading. :)

You and X are both right. I need to keep my notes here instead of in my own personal journal at home on paper. This way I can access it anywhere and if it's here on the forum it's doubtful it will be lost.

I have a question for you, X and Mr Smith but I will ask it here in a bit!

Changed the nutes today because the water was just pretty damn murky. There was a ton of hydroton dust in the bottom of the res.
Here is the question for OG13, X and Mr Smith. Have you ever thought about putting a filter inline somewhere to remove particals from the system? I can't see how it would hurt.

Bumped up the PPM in the new nutes to 1300 and added a new product I was given to try called ORCA has liquid Mycorrhizae in it. My hydro shop gave me a demo bottle of it and they said it worked amazing on their plants. We shall see. Said they saw results in 12 hours of first use.

Yes, I was having issues until I figured out I couldn't vent the tent to just the room. Once I vented it to the attic the temps came down. Air conditioner will be for the summer months and I plan on buying a good sized one at that!

Our room is 17 x11 which equals 187. To find the correct BTU air conditioner you need you multiply that times 25 which equals 4675 or a 5000 BTU unit. Since I will be running 6 1000 watt lights I will go with a 10,000 BTU unit.
 
Just a couple notes for ya Alaskan on that hydroton and filter topic.

Wash the livin bejeebus out of it before use. I just did 10 lbs of hydroton in a 5 gal bucket in the bathtub with a 6 inch netpot top to drain. I washed the hell out of it until I emptied out 3 buckets of clear water.

Yes there are y filters of the pvc type that are easily removable for cleaning. They are meant for pvc so you might have to make some modifications. Take a look at home despot.

I wash my hydroton pretty thoroughly, too. One thing I noticed though is that, at least with the stuff I get, I have a hard time getting the water to be completely clear if I agitate them at all, as it seems just banging together they produce that dust material. I've never had any issues with it, though, as far as pumps or clogging things up too much. I clean my reservoirs weekly, though, too. A filter sure couldn't hurt (I don't think), but I haven't found it necessary to date, either. Bassman has some good points on filters if you decided to go that way.

I also re-use my hydroton by washing it between grows with bleach to get the organic material (ie leftover roots) cleaned out, etc. Rinse the heck out of it after... I've noticed that the second run with this batch of hydroton is cleaner and doesn't seem to have as much dust/debris, but there is still some. I just haven't had any problems so I'll probably stick to not using the filter, personally.
 
hey thanks X, I like the bleach idea after grow.

I reused about 1/2 of mine from last grow. Didnt bother with the shit that was tied up in roots. If my finger didnt pluck it loose it stayed and went into the garbage (not mine).

yea knocking it around will certainly break some dust loose too.

We washed it just apparently we didn't wash it well enough. I have a big laundry basket I think I will use next time. Perhaps may even use my pressure washer on lite cycle and rinse them off that way.

Home deopt is my friend as of late. I was just there yesterday asa matter a fact

I clean my res once a week as well. Wipe it down really well. I have to climb inside with the res sitting on it's side. What a sight to behold, that is according to my wife lol

I think I will be the lab rat on the filter and give it a go. I have some things to return to home depot anyway so I'll pick the stuff up then.

Today I defoliated the living shit out of them so the popcorn buds and colas can get as much light as possible. Never done this before so I'm just guessing and hoping I'm doing the right thing.
 
This is the current veg grow 3rd week in
PPM today was 1201 and started last night at 1350 so they are taking up nutes. PH was at 6.4 and brought that back down to 5.5

Most are starting to show roots popping out of the net pots!
The lemon kush just isn't growing at all. Something happenend along the way. What that is I have no clue
